1Imaging evaluation of hemoptysis in children显示文摘Hemoptysis is an uncommon but distressing symptom in children. It poses a diagnostic challenge as it is difficult to elicit a clear history and perform thorough physical examination in a child. The cause of hemoptysis in children can vary with the child's age. It can range from infection, milk protein allergy and congenital heart disease in early childhood, to vasculitis, bronchial tumor and bronchiectasis in older children. Acute lower respiratory tract infections are the most common cause of pediatric hemoptysis. The objective of imaging is to identify the source of bleeding, underlying primary cause, and serve as a roadmap for invasive procedures. Hemoptysis originates primarily from the bronchial arteries. The imaging modalities available for the diagnostic evaluation of hemoptysis include chest radiography, multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT), magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and catheter angiography. Chest radiography is the initial screening tool. It can help in lateralizing the bleeding with high degree of accuracy and can detect several parenchymal and pleural abnormalities. However, it may be normal in up to 30% cases. MDCT is a rapid, non-invasive multiplanar imaging modality. It aids in evaluation of hemoptysis by depiction of underlying disease, assessment of consequences of hemorrhage and provides panoramic view of the thoracic vasculature. The various structures which need to be assessed carefully include the pulmonary parenchyma, tracheobronchial tree, pulmonary arteries, bronchial arteries and non-bronchial systemic arteries. Since the use of MDCT entails radiation exposure, optimal low dose protocols should be used so as to keep radiation dose as low as reasonably achievable. 2Strength behaviour of a model rock intersected by non-persistent joint显示文摘Several constructions in the field of civil engineering quite often need to deal with rocks.Strength behaviour of rock intersected by a discontinuity or a set of discontinuities has been a topic of keen interest for engineering community.The popular attributes of discontinuities that have been given due importance are their frequency,orientation and surface characteristics.Non-persistency,however,has been given little attention.This article presents an experimental study wherein focus has been made on the effect of non-persistency of the joint on the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of a model rock for various geometries such as orientation,discontinuity length ratio and number of joint segments.The applicability of single plane of weakness theory(SPWT)to assess the strength of jointed specimens has also been evaluated.It has been noticed that SPWT captures the strength behaviour only for a narrow range of discontinuity orientations.As an improvement,an approach is suggested by extending concepts of degree of persistence and joint factor to have a better understanding towards strength behaviour of rocks intersected by non-persistent joints.Divya Shaunik Mahendra Singh 2019Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2019,11,6:4
3Bearing capacity of foundations on rock slopes intersected by non-persistent discontinuity显示文摘Rocks encountered in foundations of heavy structures are invariably intersected by discontinuities(joints).In the past,several studies have been performed by researchers to incorporate the effect of fully persistent joints in the assessment of the load-carrying capacity of rocks.However,in the field,the joints are non-persistent,and an assumption of full persistency will underestimate the capacity.Recently,Shaunik&Singh have studied the influence of non-persistency,number of joint segments and discontinuity orientation on the strength behaviour of rock specimens(Shaunik and Singh,2019).Bell’s approach can be used to obtain the bearing capacity of shallow foundations placed in jointed rocks.In the present study,results of the experimental work(Shaunik and Singh,2019)conducted by Shaunik&Singh have been used to suggest expressions by extending Bell’s approach for computing bearing capacity of the foundation placed near the crown of a rock slope.Easy to use design charts are also presented for field application.Finally,a real-life problem from Indian Garhwal Himalayas is considered,and the approach suggested in this study is utilised to obtain the bearing capacity of a bridge foundation as a function of uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of intact rock,joint friction,spacing and orientation of joint,nonpersistency and number of joint segments.Divya Shaunik Mahendra Singh 2020International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,5:3

5Pediatric vs adult pulmonary tuberculosis:A retrospective computed tomography study显示文摘AIM: To compare the manifestations of chest tuberculosis(TB) in pediatric and adult patients based on contrast enhanced computed tomography of chest.METHODS: This was a retrospective study consisting of 152 patients of chest TB including 48 children and 104 adults who had undergone contrast enhanced computed tomography of chest prior to treatment. The patterns and severity of parenchymal, mediastinal and pleural manifestations were analyzed and compared among different age groups.RESULTS: Parenchymal changes observed include consolidation, air space nodules, miliary TB, cavitation, bronchiectasis and fibrosis and these were noted in 60% of children, 71% of adolescents and 76.9% of adults. These changes were more common in right upper lobe in all age groups. There was no significant difference in the frequency of these changes(except nodules) in different age groups. Centrilobular nodules were seen less commonly in children less than 10 years(P = 0.028). Pleural effusion was noted in 28(18.42%) patients and pericardial effusion in 8(5.3%) patients. No significant difference in the serosal involvement is seen among children and adults. Mediastinal adenopathy was seen 70% of children, 76.3% adolescents and 76.9% of adults and paratracheal nodes were seen most frequently. Nodes had similar features(except matting) among all age groups. Matting of nodes was seen more commonly in children(P = 0.014). CONCLUSION: Pediatric chest tuberculosis can have severe parenchymal lesions and nodal involvement similar to adults. 6Cardioprotective activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers in calcium chloride-induced cardiac arrhythmia in rats显示文摘The present study investigated the antiarrhythmic activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (T.cordifolia) in CaCl 2 induced arrhythmia.CaCl 2 (25 mg/kg) was administered by intravenous infusion (iv) to produce arrhythmia in rats.The animals were then treated with T.cordifolia extract (150,250,and 450 mg/kg) and verapamil (5 mg/kg,iv).Lead II electrocardiogram was monitored.Plasma calcium,sodium and potassium levels were measured.In CaCl 2 induced arrhythmia,heart rate was decreased by 41.10%,T.cordifolia at 150,300,and 450 mg/kg decreased the heart rate by 26.30%,29.16%,and 38.29%,respectively,and verapamil reduced the heart rate by 9.70% compared to the normal group.The PQRST waves were normalized and atrial and ventricular fibrillation was controlled in rats treated with verapamil and T.cordifolia.CaCl 2 increased calcium and sodium levels and decreased potassium levels in blood.T.cordifolia dose-dependently decreased calcium and sodium levels and increased potassium levels.Hence,T.cordifolia can be used in antiarrhythmic clinical settings and beneficial in atrial and ventricular fibrillation and flutter and may be indicated in ventricular tachyarrhythmia.Ashish Kumar Sharma Kunal Kishore Divya Sharma B.P Srinivasan Shyam Sunder Agarwal Ashok Sharma Santosh Kumar Singh Samir Gaur Vijay Singh Jatav 2011The Journal of Biomedical Research2011,25,4:2
7Fault Pattern Diagnosis and Classification in Sensor Nodes Using Fall Curve显示文摘The rapid expansion of Internet of Things(IoT)devices deploys various sensors in different applications like homes,cities and offices.IoT applications depend upon the accuracy of sensor data.So,it is necessary to predict faults in the sensor and isolate their cause.A novel primitive technique named fall curve is presented in this paper which characterizes sensor faults.This technique identifies the faulty sensor and determines the correct working of the sensor.Different sources of sensor faults are explained in detail whereas various faults that occurred in sensor nodes available in IoT devices are also presented in tabular form.Fault prediction in digital and analog sensors along with methods of sensor fault prediction are described.There are several advantages and disadvantages of sensor fault prediction methods and the fall curve technique.So,some solutions are provided to overcome the limitations of the fall curve technique.In this paper,a bibliometric analysis is carried out to visually analyze 63 papers fetched from the Scopus database for the past five years.Its novelty is to predict a fault before its occurrence by looking at the fall curve.The sensing of current flow in devices is important to prevent a major loss.So,the fall curves of ACS712 current sensors configured on different devices are drawn for predicting faulty or non-faulty devices.The analysis result proved that if any of the current sensors gets faulty,then the fall curve will differ and the value will immediately drop to zero.Various evaluation metrics for fault prediction are also described in this paper.At last,this paper also addresses some possible open research issues which are important to deal with false IoT sensor data.Mudita Uppal Deepali Gupta Divya Anand Fahd S.Alharithi Jasem Almotiri Arturo Mansilla Dinesh Singh Nitin Goyal 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,7:1

9果蝇Drosophila biarmipes翅斑二型性的生态学意义(英文)显示文摘雌性对雄性表饰的偏好性有利于性别选择。目前尚不清楚这一偏好性是否只限于雄性表饰或这一偏好性实际上是源于影响后代适合度的基因。对于雄性可直接有利于雌性或其后代适合度的交配系统而言,答案是肯定的———雌性偏好于与对气候胁迫具有更强生理抗性的雄性交配。对果蝇Drosophila biarmipes的室内研究已经证明了求偶过程中翅斑的作用,但是其生态学意义仍然不清楚。我们检验了有翅斑与无翅斑雄性果蝇D.biarmipes及雌性偏好的雄性所产生的后代对环境胁迫的抗性是否不同。结果表明:在干燥或冷胁迫条件下,有翅斑的雄性果蝇比无翅斑的雄性果蝇的交配成功率明显要高。相反,在高湿条件下,无翅斑雄性果蝇的交配频率更高。我们也发现在较为干旱的条件下,与有翅斑雄性交配的雌性果蝇的生殖力以及所得后代从卵至成虫的存活率更高。我们的结果与优良基因性选择假说一致,说明交配选择能给雌性带来间接好处。这是对热带物种D.biarmipes翅色二型性生态学意义的首次报道。Ravi PARKASH Chanderkala LAMBHOD Divya SINGH 2013昆虫学报2013,56,11:1

11Involvement of adenosine and standardization of aqueous extract of garlic(Allium sativum Linn.)on cardioprotective and cardiodepressant properties in ischemic preconditioning and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion induced cardiac injury显示文摘The present study investigated the effect of garlic(Allium sativum Linn.)aqueous extracts on ischemic preconditioning and ischemia-reperfusion induced cardiac injury,as well as adenosine involvement in ischemic preconditioning and garlic extract induced cardioprotection.A model of ischemia-reperfusion injury was established using Langendorff apparatus.Aqueous extract of garlic dose was standardized(0.5%,0.4%,0.3%,0.2%,0.1%,0.07%,0.05%,0.03%,0.01%),and the 0.05% dose was found to be the most effective.Higher doses(more than 0.05%)were highly toxic,causing arrhythmia and cardiodepression,whereas the lower doses were ineffective.Garlic exaggerated the cardioprotective effect of ischemic preconditioning.The cardioprotective effect of ischemic preconditioning and garlic cardioprotection was significantly attenuated by theophylline(1,000 μmol/L)and 8-SPT(10 mg/kg,i.p.)and expressed by increased myocardial infarct size,increased LDH level,and reduced nitrite and adenosine levels.These findings suggest that adenosine is involved in the pharmacological and molecular mechanism of garlic induced cardioprotection and mediated by the modulation of nitric oxide.Ashish Kumar Sharma Arshee Munajjam Bhawna Vaishnav Richa Sharma Ashok Sharma Kunal Kishore Akash Sharma Divya Sharma Rita Kumari Ashish Tiwari Santosh Kumar Singh Samir Gaur Vijay Singh Jatav Barthu Parthi Srinivasan Shyam Sunder Agarwal 2012The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,1:1
12Critical care practice in India:Results of the intensive care unit need assessment survey(ININ2018)显示文摘BACKGROUND A diverse country like India may have variable intensive care units(ICUs)practices at state and city levels.AIM To gain insight into clinical services and processes of care in ICUs in India,this would help plan for potential educational and quality improvement interventions.METHODS The Indian ICU needs assessment research group of diverse-skilled individuals was formed.A pan-India survey'Indian National ICU Needs'assessment(ININ 2018-I)was designed on google forms and deployed from July 23rd-August 25th,2018.The survey was sent to select distribution lists of ICU providers from all 29 states and 7 union territories(UTs).In addition to emails and phone calls,social medial applications-WhatsApp™,Facebook™and LinkedIn™were used to remind and motivate providers.By completing and submitting the survey,providers gave their consent for research purposes.This study was deemed eligible for category-2 Institutional Review Board exempt status.RESULTS There were total 134 adult/adult-pediatrics ICU responses from 24(83%out of 29)states,and two(28%out of 7)UTs in 61 cities.They had median(IQR)16(10-25)beds and most,were mixed medical-surgical,111(83%),with 108(81%)being adult-only ICUs.Representative responders were young,median(IQR),38(32-44)years age and majority,n=108(81%)were males.The consultants were,n=101(75%).A total of 77(57%)reported to have 24 h in-house intensivist.A total of 68(51%)ICUs reported to have either 2:1 or 2≥:1 patient:nurse ratio.More than 80%of the ICUs were open,and mixed type.Protocols followed regularly by the ICUs included sepsis care,ventilator-associated pneumonia(83%each);nutrition(82%),deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis(87%),stress ulcer prophylaxis(88%)and glycemic control(92%).Digital infrastructure was found to be poor,with only 46%of the ICUs reporting high-speed internet availability.CONCLUSION In this large,national,semi-structured,need-assessment survey,the need for improved manpower including;in-house intensivists,and decreasing patient-tonurse ratios was evident.Sepsis was the most common diagnosis and quality and research initiatives to decrease sepsis mortality and ICU length of stay could be prioritized.Additionally,subsequent surveys can focus on digital infrastructure for standardized care and efficient resource utilization and enhancing compliance with existing protocols.Rahul Kashyap Kirtivardhan Vashistha Chetan Saini Taru Dutt Dileep Raman Vikas Bansal Harpreet Singh Geeta Bhandari Nagarajan Ramakrishnan Harshit Seth Divya Sharma Premkumar Seshadri Mradul Kumar Daga Mohan Gurjar Yash Javeri Salim Surani Joseph Varon 2020World Journal of Critical Care Medicine2020,9,2:1
