1The M_S7.1 Yushu earthquake surface rupture and large historical earthquakes on the Garzê-Yushu Fault显示文摘As revealed by field investigations,the co-seismic surface rupture zone of the 2010 MS7.1 Yushu earthquake,Qinghai is a characteristic sinistral strike-slip feature consisting of three distinct sinistral primary ruptures,with an overall strike of 310°-320° and a total length of 31 km.In addition,an approximately 2-km-long en-echelon tensile fissure zone was found east of Longbao Town;if this site is taken as the north end of the rupture zone,then the rupture had a total length of ~51 km.The surface rupture zone is composed of a series of fissures arranged in an en-echelon or alternating relationship between compressive bulges and tensile fissures,with a measured maximum horizontal displacement of 1.8 m.The surface rupture zone extends along the mapped Garzê-Yushu Fault,which implicates it as the seismogenic fault for this earthquake.Historically,a few earthquakes with a magnitude of about 7 have occurred along the fault,and additionally traces of paleoearthquakes are evident that characterize the short-period recurrence interval of large earthquakes here.Similar to the seismogenic process of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake,the Yushu earthquake is also due to the stress accumulation and release on the block boundaries resulting from the eastward expansion of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.However,in contrast with the Wenchuan earthquake,the Yushu earthquake had a sinistral strike-slip mechanism resulting from the uneven eastward extrusion of the Baryan Har and Sichuan-Yunnan fault blocks.CHEN LiChun WANG Hu RAN YongKang SUN XinZhe SU GuiWu WANG Ji TAN XiBin LI ZhiMin ZHANG XiaoQing 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,31:17
2Recent advances in joining of SiC-based materials(monolithic SiC and SiC_f/SiC composites):Joining processes,joint strength, and interfacial behavior显示文摘Silicon carbide(SiC) has been widely concerned for its excellent overall mechanical and physical properties, such as low density, good thermal-shock behavior, high temperature oxidation resistance, and radiation resistance; as a result, the SiC-based materials have been or are being widely used in most advanced fields involving aerospace, aviation, military, and nuclear power. Joining of SiC-based materials(monolithic SiC and SiCf/SiC composites) can resolve the problems on poor processing performance and difficulty of fabrication of large-sized and complex-shaped components to a certain extent, which are originated from their high inherent brittleness and low impact toughness.Starting from the introduction to SiC-based materials, joining of ceramics, and joint strength characterization, the joining of SiC-based materials is reviewed by classifying the as-received interlayer materials, involving no interlayer, metallic, glass-ceramic, and organic interlayers. 3Pore network modeling of water block in low permeability reservoirs显示文摘A pore network model was used in this paper to investigate the factors, in particular, throat radius, wettability and initial water saturation, causing water block in low permeability reservoirs. A new term–‘relative permeability number’ (RPN) was firstly defined, and then used to describe the degree of water block. Imbibition process simulations show that the RPN drops in accordance with the extension of the averaged pore throat radius from 0.05 to 1.5 μm, and yet once beyond that point of 1.5 μm, the RPN reaches a higher value, indicating the existence of a critical pore throat radius where water block is the maximum. When the wettability of the samples changes from water-wet to weakly water-wet, weakly gas-wet, or gas(oil)-wet, the gas RPN increases consistently, but this consistency is disturbed by the RPN dropping for weakly water-wet samples for water saturations less than 0.4, which means weakly water-wet media are more easily water blocked than water-wet systems. 4A study of oil spill detection using ASAR images显示文摘The oil spilled worldwide causes ecological disasters that result in enormous damages to the quality of marine environment, and great expenses on clear-up operations are needed. Due to its wide coverage and day-night all-weather observation capability, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an important tool for oil spill monitoring and detection. C-band SAR is well adapted to detect oil pollution because oil slicks dampen the Bragg waves and reduce radar backscattering coefficients. In order to detect the area of oil slicks, the algorithm consists of these steps: Preprocessing, Masking of land areas, Detection of dark spots, Spot feature extraction, Dark spot classification. In this paper, the authors examined two coastal regions around Hong Kong and Yantai, China. The obtained results performed on Envisat ASAR images have demonstrated that it is efficient to detect oil spill around the coastal regions. 5Geological Characteristics and Ore-controlling Factors of the Beiya Gold–Polymetallic Ore Deposit, Northwestern Yunnan Province显示文摘Based on comprehensive petrological, geochronological, and geochemical studies, this study analyzed the relationships between the Beiya gold-polymetallic skarn deposit and quartz syenite porphyries, and discussed the source(s) and evolution of magmas. Our results suggest that syenite porphyries(i.e. the Wandongshan, the Dashadi, and the Hongnitang porphyries), which formed between the Eocene and the early Oligocene epochs, are the sources for the gold-polymetallic ores at the Beiya deposit. Carbonate rocks(T2 b) of the Triassic Beiya Formation in the ore district provide favorable host space for deposit formation. Fold and fault structures collectively play an important role in ore formation. The contact zone between the porphyries and carbonates, the structurally fractured zone of carbonate and clastic rocks, and the zone with well-developed fractures are the ideal locations for ore bodies. Four types of mineralization have been recognized: 1) porphyry-style stockwork gold–iron(copper) ore, 2) skarn-style gold-iron(copper and lead) ore in the near contact zone, 3) strata-bound, lense-type lead–silver–gold ore in the outer contact zone, and 4) distal vein-type gold–lead–silver ore. Supergene processes led to the formation of oxide ore, such as the weathered and accumulated gold–iron ore, the strata-bound fracture oxide ore, and the structure-controlled vein-type ore. Most of these ore deposits are distributed along the axis of the depressed basin, with the hypogene ore controlling the shape and characteristics of the oxide ore. 6Brazing of WC–8Co cemented carbide to steel using Cu–Ni–Al alloys as filler metal: Microstructures and joint mechanical behavior显示文摘Three novel Cu–Ni–Al brazing filler alloys with Cu/Ni weight ratio of 4:1 and 2.5–10 wt% Al were developed and characterized, and the wetting of three Cu–Ni–Al alloys on WC–8 Co cemented carbide were investigated at 1190–1210?C by the sessile drop technique. Vacuum brazing of the WC–8 Co cemented carbide to SAE1045 steel using the three Cu–Ni–Al alloys as filler metal was further carried out based on the wetting test results. The interfacial interactions and joint mechanical behaviors involving microhardness, shear strength and fracture were analyzed and discussed. The experimental results show that all the three wetting systems present excellent wettability with final contact angles of less than 5?and fast spreading. An obvious degeneration layer with continuous thin strip forms in the cemented carbide adjacent to the Cu–Ni–Al/WC–8 Co interface. The variation of microhardness in the joint cross-section is closely related to the interactions(such as diffusion and solid solution) of WC–8 Co/Cu–Ni–Al/steel system. Compared with the other two brazed joints, the WC–8 Co/Cu–19 Ni–5 Al/steel brazed joint presents more reliable interlayer microstructure and mechanical property while brazing at the corresponding wetting temperatures for 5 min, and its average shear strength is over 200 MPa after further optimizing the brazing temperature and holding time. 15Superior performance porous carbon nitride nanosheets for helium separation from natural gas:Insights from MD and DFT simulations显示文摘Increasing helium(He)demand in fundamental research,medical,and industrial processes necessitates efficient He purification from natural gas.However,most theoretically available membranes focus on the separation of two or three kinds of gas molecules with He and the underlying separation mechanism is not yet well understood.Using molecular dynamic(MD)and first-principle density function theory(DFT)simulations,we systematically demonstrated a novel porous carbon nitride membrane(g-C_(9)N_(7))with superior performance for He separation from natural gas.The structure of g-C_(9)N_(7) monolayer was optimized first,and the calculated cohesive energy confirmed its structural stability.Increasing temperature from 200 to 500 K,the g-C_(9)N_(7)membrane revealed high He permeability,as high as 1.48×10^(7) GPU(gas permeation unit,1 GPU=3.35×10^(-10) mol·s^(-1)·Pa^(-1)·m^(-2))at 298 K,and also exhibited high selectivity for He over other gases(Ar,N_(2),CO_(2),CH_(4),and H_(2)S).Then,the selectivity of He over Ne was found to decrease with increasing the total number of He and Ne molecules,and to increase with increasing He to Ne ratio.More interestingly,a tunable He separation performance can be achieved by introducing strain during membrane separation.Under the condition of 7.5%compressive strain,the g-C_(9)(N_(7)(membrane reached the highest He over Ne selectivity of 9.41×10^(2).It can be attributed to the low energy barrier for He,but increased energy barrier for other gases passing through the membrane,which was subject to a compressive strain.These results offer important insights into He purification using g-C_(9)N_(7)membrane and opened a promising avenue for the screening of industrial grade gas separation with strain engineering.Zilong Liu Ge Zhao Xiao Zhang Lei Gao Junqing Chen Weichao Sun Guanggang Zhou Guiwu Lu 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,9:1
