1Bi-directional Selection in Upland Rice Leads to Its Adaptive Differentiation from Lowland Rice in Drought Resistance and Productivity显示文摘Drought resistance is required in rice breeding to address the challenge of frequent droughts . However, the evolutionary mechanism of rice drought resistance is not fully understood. We investigated the genetic differentiation between upland and lowland rice domesticated in agro-ecosystems with contrasting water-soil conditions using genome-wide SNPs. We estimated morphological differences among upland and lowland rice in drought resistance and productivity through common garden experiments. Upland rice had better drought resistance but poorer productivity. The negative correlations between traits of drought resistance and productivity are attributed to the underlying genetic trade-offs through tight linkages (e.g., DCA1 and OsCesA7) or pleiotropic effects (e.g., LAX1). The genetic trade-offs are comm on and greatly shape the evolutio n of drought resista nee in upland rice . In genomic regions associated with both productivity and drought resistance, signs of balancing selection were detected in upland rice, while signs of directional selection were detected in lowland rice, potentially contributing to their adaptive differentiation. Signs of balancing selection in upland rice resulted from bi-directional selection during its domestication in drought-prone upland agro-ecosystems.Using genome-wide association analysis, we ide ntified several valuable quantitative trait loci associated with drought resista nee, for which highly differentiated genes should be considered candidates. 6An elastic-plastic contact model for line contact structures显示文摘Although numerical simulation tools are now very powerful,the development of analytical models is very important for the prediction of the mechanical behaviour of line contact structures for deeply understanding contact problems and engineering applications.For the line contact structures widely used in the engineering field,few analytical models are available for predicting the mechanical behaviour when the structures deform plastically,as the classic Hertz’s theory would be invalid.Thus,the present study proposed an elastic-plastic model for line contact structures based on the understanding of the yield mechanism.A mathematical expression describing the global relationship between load history and contact width evolution of line contact structures was obtained.The proposed model was verified through an actual line contact test and a corresponding numerical simulation.The results confirmed that this model can be used to accurately predict the elastic-plastic mechanical behaviour of a line contact structure.Haibin Zhu Yingtao Zhao Zhifeng He Ruinan Zhang Shaopeng Ma 2018Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,5:8
7Nanoparticles carrying neurotrophin-3-modified Schwann cells promote repair of sciatic nerve defects显示文摘Schwann cells and neurotrophin-3 play an important role in neural regeneration,but the secretion of neurotrophin-3 from Schwann cells is limited,and exogenous neurotrophin-3 is inactived easily in vivo.In this study,we have transfected neurotrophin-3 into Schwann cells cultured in vitro using nanoparticle liposomes.Results showed that neurotrophin-3 was successfully transfected into Schwann cells,where it was expressed effectively and steadily.A composite of Schwann cells transfected with neurotrophin-3 and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) biodegradable conduits was transplanted into rats to repair 10-mm sciatic nerve defects.Transplantation of the composite scaffold could restore the myoelectricity and wave amplitude of the sciatic nerve by electrophysiological examination,promote nerve axonal and myelin regeneration,and delay apoptosis of spinal motor neurons.Experimental findings indicate that neurotrophin-3 transfected Schwann cells combined with bridge grafting can promote neural regeneration and functional recovery after nerve injury.Haibin Zong Hongxing Zhao Yilei Zhao Jingling Jia Libin Yang Chao Ma Yang Zhang Yuzhen Dong 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,14:7
8Late Paleozoic to Mesozoic extension in southwestern Fujian Province, South China: Geochemical, geochronological and Hf isotopic constraints from basic-intermediate dykes显示文摘The tectonic evolution of SE China block since late Paleozoic remains debated.Here we present a new set of zircon U-Pb geochronological,Lu-Hf isotopic data and whole-rock geochemistry for two stages of basicintermediate dykes from the southwestern Fujian.The samples were collected from the NE-trending(mainly diabases) and NW-trending(mainly diabasic diorites) dykes and yielded zircon U-Pb ages of 315 and 141 Ma,with ε_(Hf)(t) values of-8.90 to 7.49 and-23.39 to-7.15(corresponding to T_(DM2) values of 850 to 1890 Ma and 737 to 2670 Ma),respectively.Geochemically these rocks are characterized by low TiO_2(0.91-1.73 wt.%)and MgO(3.04-7.96 wt.%),and high Al_2O_3(12.5-16.60 wt.%) and K_2O(0.60-3.63 wt.%).Further they are enriched in LREEs and ULEs(Rb,Ba,Th and K).but depleted in HFSEs(Nb,Ta and Zr).The tectonic discrimination analysis revealed that the dykes were formed in an intraplate extensional environment.However,the NW trending dykes show crust-mantle mixed composition,which indicate an extensional tectonic setting with evidence for crustal contamination.The SE China block experienced two main stages of extensional tectonics from late Carboniferous to early Cretaceous.The tectonic evolution of the SE China block from late Devonian to Cretaceous is also evaluated.Sen Wang Da Zhang Ganguo Wu Absai Vatuva Yongjun Di Pengcheng Yan Haibin Feng Shuai Ma 2017Geoscience Frontiers2017,8,3:6
9Enhanced Fracture Toughness of Pressureless-sintered SiC Ceramics by Addition of Graphene显示文摘To enhance the fracture toughness of pressureless-sintered Si C ceramic, graphene was introduced as an additive. The effects of graphene contents on the fracture toughness, bending strength, micro-hardness,phase compositions, and microstructure evolutions of the Si C ceramics were investigated in detail by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and metallographic microscopy. The fracture toughness, bending strength and micro-hardness increased initially, and then decreased with the graphene content increasing from 0 to 5.0 wt%. The highest fracture toughness of 5.65 MPa m1/2was obtained for sample with 1.0 wt% graphene sintered at 2130 °C for 1 h in Ar, which was about 22.6% higher than that of Si C sample without graphene. 10Expression and responses to dehydration and salinity stresses of V-PPase gene members in wheat显示文摘Vacuolar H+-translocating pyrophosphatase(V-PPase) is a key enzyme related to plant growth as well as abiotic stress tolerance.In this work,wheat V-PPase genes TaVP1,TaVP2 and TaVP3 were identified.TaVP1 and TaVP2 are more similar to each other than to TaVP3.Their deduced polypeptide sequences preserve the topological structure and essential residues of V-PPases.Phylogenetic studies suggested that monocot plants,at least monocot grasses,have three VP paralogs.TaVP3 transcripts were only detected in developing seeds,and no TaVP2 transcripts were found in germinating seeds.TaVP2 was mainly expressed in shoot tissues and down-regulated in leaves under dehydration.Its expression was up-regulated in roots under high salinity.TaVP1 was relatively more ubiquitously and evenly expressed than TaVP2.Its expression level in roots was highest among the tissues examined,and was inducible by salinity stress.These results indicated that the V-PPase gene paralogs in wheat are differentially regulated spatially and in response to dehydration and salinity stresses.Yuezhi Wang Haibin Xu Guangxiang Zhang Huilan Zhu Lixia Zhang Zhengzhi Zhang Caiqin Zhang Zhengqiang Ma 2009Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,12:3

12Outcome of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Beijing显示文摘Aim:We aimed to investigate the association between bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)and survival of patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrests(OHCA)in Beiing.Methods:This observational study analyzed adult patients with OHCA treated by the Beiing emergency medical service(EMS)from January 2013 to December 2017.Data were collected in a Utstein style with a 1-year follow-up and a primary outcome 01 survival to hospital discharge.Secondary outcomes were return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC),survival to admission,favorable neurological outcome at hospital discharge,and survival and favorable neurological outcomes of up to 1 year.Results:A total of 5016 patients with OHCA from Beiing's urban area were recorded by EMS,wherein 765 patients(15.25%)underwent bystander CPR.The data were propensity score-matched forage,sex,location,witness,aetiology,initial rhythm,and call to EMS arrival to compare the difference between the occurrence and nonoccurrence of bystander CPR.The survival upon the discharge of patients who experienced bystander CPR was superior to that of patients who did not receive bystander CPR(3.7%vs 1.2%,respectively;P<0.001).Moreover,patients with OHCA resuscitated with bystander CPR achieved better outcomes of ROSC,survival to admission,favorable neurological outcome at hospital discharge,survival and favorable neurological outcome after 1 year compared with those who were not resuscitated with bystander CPR.Conclusion:Survival and neu rological outcome of patients who underwent bystander CPR was better than those who underwent nonbystander CPR in Beiing.However,the rate of bystander CPR was low.Xian Shi Yang Wu Haibin Li Shengkui Ma Dou Li Ding Gao Hao Cui Changxiao Yu Song Yang Ziren Tang Fei Shao 2021Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2021,1,2:2
13The search for vulcanoids in the 2008 total solar eclipse显示文摘Interior to Mercury's orbit is a dynamically stable region where a population of small, asteroid-like bodies called Vulcanoids has been hypothesized to reside. The Vulcanoid Zone (VZ) extends inward from about 0.18 au to about 0.08 au. During the Total Solar Eclipse (TSE) in 2008, a search for Vulcanoids was completed. 14Ultrasonic Scattered Field Distribution of One and Two Cylindrical Solids with Phased Array Technique显示文摘The scattered fields of plane waves in a solid from a cylinder or sphere are critical in determining its acoustic characteristics as well as in engineering applications. This paper investigates the scattered field distributions of different incident waves created by elastic cylinders embedded in an elastic isotropic medium. Scattered waves, including longitudinal and transverse waves both inside and outside the cylinder, are described with specific modalities under an incident plane wave. A model with a scatterer embedded in a structural steel matrix and filled with aluminum is developed for comparison with the theoretical solution. The frequency of the plane wave ranged from 235 kHz to 2348 kHz, which corresponds to scaling factors from 0.5 to 5. Scattered field distributions in matrix materials blocked by an elastic cylindrical solid have been obtained by simulation or calculated using existing parameters. The simulation results are in good agreement with the theoretical solution, which supports the correctness of the simulation analysis. Furthermore, ultrasonic phased arrays are used to study scattered fields by changing the characteristics of the incident wave. On this foundation, a partial preliminary study of the scattered field distribution of double cylinders in a solid has been carried out, and the scattered field distribution at a given distance has been found to exhibit particular behaviors at different moments. 16Identification of aeolian loess deposits on the Indo-Gangetic Plain(India)and their significance显示文摘Aeolian loess deposits contain abundant information about the evolution of the paleoenvironment.For example,paleoclimate changes recorded in Chinese loess area obtained significant achievement in the past few decades.Compared to Chinese loess,research on Indian loess is lacking.Currently,most studies focus on the Kashmir area located in the southern Himalayas,and studies on other areas are rare.However,field observations demonstrate that the sediments around the New Delhi-Agra-Jaipur Plain are similar to Chinese loess-paleosol sequences.For example,the boundary between two strata is transitional and without horizontal bedding.Moreover,obvious pedogenic horizons developed among sediment sequences,probably indicating unrecognised aeolian deposits in the Indo-Gangetic Plain(IGP).To confirm this,pilot samples were obtained from the IGP and detailed indoor measurements conducted.The results indicate that the distribution patterns of particle size and rare earth elements(REE) of the pilot samples are similar to Chinese loess.Furthermore,the scanning electronic microscopy(SEM) images of pilot samples show obvious conchoidal fractures,dash-shaped concavities,and abundant small pits that usually form through mechanical impact.These are typical characteristics of aeolian particles.In addition,environmental and rock magnetic measurements indicate that the dominant magnetic minerals in the pilot samples are magnetite and maghemite,and that they likely contain small amounts of hematite.Furthermore,conventional magnetic parameters are comparable with Chinese loess.Based on this,aeolian loess deposits are widely distributed in the IGP,which may have promoted the development of Indian farming and contributed towards the prosperity of ancient Indian civilisation.This study also provides a new and valuable record for the research on paleoclimate changes in the study area in the future.LIU XiuMing MA MingMing WU HaiBin ZHOU ZiBo 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,3:2
