| 1 | Study of morphologic variability of incudostapedial angle and its relation with temporal bone pneumatization显示文摘Introduction:Optimal sound transmission across the ossicular chain is dependent on the appropriate alignment of the middle ear ossicles.Incudostapedial joint(ISJ)is conventionally considered to be at right angle.Objective:We intended to study the ISJ anatomy and the impact of temporal bone pneumatization on the same.Methods:In a cadaveric study comprising of 47 human temporal bones,canal wall down mastoidectomy was carried out under microscopic guidance keeping the ossicular chain intact.The morphology of ISJ was recorded and analysed with respect to the pneumatization status of the temporal bone.The data analysis was performed using statistical software Stata version 12.0.Results:The mean ISJ angle for the 47 bones was 90.5^0(SD-15^0;range:54^0-122^0).The mean angle in well pneumatized bones was 93.7^0(SD-16.5;Range:54°-122^0)and in sclerotic mastoids was 88.7^0(SD-14;Range:68°-118^0).The difference in the ISJ angle in these two conditions was not statistically significant(p=0.27).The mean angle was found to be significantly more obtuse in the cases with partially eroded ISJ(111.4^0{SD-8.8;range:100.3^0-221.9^0};p=0.0001)and in the cases with an‘adherent/tilted morphology’of the stapes suprastructure with the promontory(mean-95.8^0(SD-13.8;range:70.7^0-120.4^0);p-<0.00001).Conclusion:The ISJ angle shows considerable variations.This variability needs to be taken into account when undertaking middle ear reconstructive procedures,specifically the ones involving the stapes footplate.The mastoid pneumatization does not appear to have an impact on the ISJ angle. | Anup Singh David Victor Kumar Irugu Rajeev Kumar Hitesh Verma Anandita Gupta Abha Kumari | 2020 | Journal of Otology2020,15,2: | 3 |

| 7 | Numerical analysis of hemodynamic parameters in stenosed arteries under pulsatile flow conditions显示文摘This research studies the changes in flow patterns and hemodynamic parameters of diverse shapes and sizes of stenosis.Six different shapes and sizes of stenosis are constructed to investigate the variations in hemodynamics as the morphology changes.Changes in shape(trapezoidal and bell-shaped)and sizes of stenosis change the stresses on the walls and their flow patterns.TAWSS and OSI results specify that trapezoidal stenosis exerts greater stress than bell-shaped stenosis.Also,as the length of the trapezoidal stenosis increases,the TAWSS increases,whereas the trend is the opposite for bell-shaped stenosis.Later,this paper also studies different degrees of stenosis extracted from real images.Changes in velocity flow patterns,wall shear stress(WSS),Time-averaged wall shear stress(TAWSS)and Oscillatory shear index(OSI)have been studied for these images.Results illustrate that the peak velocity rises drastically as the stenosis percentage increases.Negative velocity is seen close to the artery's walls,indicating flow separation.This flow separation region is seen throughout the cycle except in the accelerating flow region.An increase in stenosis also increases WSS and TAWSS drastically.Negative WSS is seen downstream of stenosis,indicating flow recirculation.Such negative WSS in the blood vessels also promotes endothelial dysfunction.OSI values greater than 0.2 are seen near the stenosis region,indicating atherosclerosis growth.Regions of high OSI and low TAWSS are also identified,indicating probable regions of plaque development. | Priyambada Praharaj Chandrakant Sonawane Anand Pandey Vikas Kumar Arundhati Warke Hitesh Panchal R.Ibrahim Chander Prakash | 2023 | Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2023,,4: | 0 |
| 8 | Geochemistry and geochronology of A-type basement granitoids in the north-central Aravalli Craton: Implications on Paleoproterozoic geodynamics of NW Indian Block显示文摘The basement granite gneisses from the north-central Aravalli Craton in NW India were investigated for geochemistry and geochronology.In a peneplain terrain,the granite gneiss outcrops are scanty and samples were collected mainly from two small hills and several ground-level exposures in the Sakhun–Ladera region.Wellfoliated granite gneiss is the dominant lithology that also hosts dark,lenticular enclaves,and is in turn,intruded by mafic dykes.The granite gneiss has silica content ranging from 61.37 wt.%to 68.27 wt.%that marks a slight overlap with the enclaves(54.32wt.%to 62.17wt.%).Both groups have a highK2O/Na2O(~2 or higher)ratio.Geochemically,the granite gneiss classify as granite–granodiorite,and enclaves as granodiorite-diorite.The In-situ LA-ICP-MS zircon U–Pb geochronology of granite gneiss has yielded a statistically valid 1721±9 Ma age that we interpret as the emplacement age for the granitic protolith.Geochemical characteristics of granite gneiss underline fractional crystallization of an I-type melt as themain process,and continuity of trends in enclaves underlines their mutual genetic link.The genetic association is further verified by a consistency in the trace element characteristics and REE patterns.The Nd-isotope signatures define a single grouping for both granite gneiss and enclaves,withεNd(t)values ranging from−6.38 to−6.61,further substantiating a common source.The geochemical tectonic discrimination schemes consistently point toward an extensional setting and A-type characteristics for granite gneiss and enclaves.These are analogous to the coeval(1.72–1.75 Ga),A-type granitoids from the Khetri and Alwar basin in the North Delhi Fold Belt,implying a much larger areal extent for the Paleoproterozoic anorogenic magmatism in the northern segment of the Aravalli Craton.The Paleoproterozoic age for the presumed‘Archean’basement in this region offers tacit evidence that the BGC–II is a stratigraphically younger terrane as compared to the Archean age,BGC–I. | Manoj K.Pandit Hitesh Kumar WeiWang | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,4: | 0 |
| 9 | General-motors diet: A quick fix for steatotic live liver donors显示文摘Background and aims:GM(General-Motors)diet is a low-calorie 7-day diet plan using complex carbohydrates used for quick weight loss.Dietary optimisation is known to decrease steatosis and improve outcomes in liver donors.We evaluated the efficacy and feasibility of using GM diet in steatotic live liver donors(LLD).Methods:LLDs who either had BMI>30 kg/m^(2),Computerised tomography liver attenuation index(CT-LAI)<0 HU,Magnetic resonance(MR)fat-fraction of>10%were started on GM diet for 1 week.Records of these LLDs and their recipients were retrieved retrospectively and analysed.Weight,liver function tests(LFT),MR fat-frac-tion,CT-LAI,hospital-stay and complications were analysed in LLDs while early graft dysfunction(EGD)and complications were assessed in recipients.Results:A total of 51 LLDs with mean age of 34.6?9.5 years with baseline mean weight of 80.6±10.8 kg and BMI of 29.1±2.78 kg/m^(2) were started on GM diet.After a week of following the GM diet,there was an average weight loss of 3.46±2.1 kg,a decrease in fat-fraction by 3.8%±2.7,and an improvement in CT-LAI by 6.7?3.7 HU.All patients could successfully undergo donor hepatectomy with an average postoperative ICU stay of 2.86±0.8 days and hospital stay of 6.82?0.81 days.No donor had steatosis>10% on intraoperative Tru-cut biopsy and their post-operative outcomes were similar to normal liver donors.There were intra-abdominal collections in 2 donors requiring drainage and one required re-exploration for intestinal obstruction.There was EGD in 8 recipients(15.6%)and mortality in 1(1.9%)recipients.Conclusion:GM diet is safe and effective regimen to reduce steatosis and increase healthy LLD pool without compromising donor or recipient safety. | Anish Gupta Abhideep Chaudhary Gaurav Sood Niteen Kumar Imtiakum Jamir Aditya Shriya Vipin Pal Singh Rekha Subramaniyam Hitesh Soni Milind Mandwar | 2023 | iLIVER2023,2,3: | 0 |
