1Acupuncture's Role in Solving the Opioid Epidemic: Evidence, Cost-Effectiveness, and Care Availability for Acupuncture as a Primary, Non-Pharmacologic Method for Pain Relief and Management-White Paper 2017显示文摘The United States(U.S.) is facing a national opioid epidemic, and medical systems are in need of nonpharmacologic strategies that can be employed to decrease the public's opioid dependence. Acupuncture has emerged as a powerful, evidence-based, safe, cost-effective, and available treatment modality suitable to meeting this need. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for the management of numerous types of pain conditions, and mechanisms of action for acupuncture have been described and are understandable from biomedical, physiologic perspectives. Further, acupuncture's cost-effectiveness can dramatically decrease health care expenditures, both from the standpoint of treating acute pain and through avoiding addiction to opioids that requires costly care, destroys quality of life, and can lead to fatal overdose. Numerous federal regulatory agencies have advised or mandated that healthcare systems and providers offer non-pharmacologic treatment options for pain. Acupuncture stands out as the most evidence-based, immediately available choice to fulfil these calls. Acupuncture can safely, easily, and cost-effectively be incorporated into hospital settings as diverse as the emergency department, labor and delivery suites, andneonatal intensive care units to treat a variety of commonly seen pain conditions. 3Genome-wide association analysis identified molecular markers associated with important tea flavor-related metabolites显示文摘The characteristic secondary metabolites in tea(theanine,caffeine,and catechins)are important factors contributing to unique tea flavors.However,there has been relatively little research on molecular markers related to these metabolites.Thus,we conducted a genome-wide association analysis of the levels of these tea flavor-related metabolites in three seasons.The theanine,caffeine,and catechin levels in Population 1 comprising 191 tea plant germplasms were examined,which revealed that their heritability exceeded 0.5 in the analyzed seasons,with the following rank order(highest to lowest heritabilities):(+)-catechin>(−)-gallocatechin gallate>caffeine=(−)-epicatechin>(−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate>theanine>(−)-epigallocatechin>(−)-epicatechin-3-gallate>catechin gallate>(+)-gallocatechin.The SNPs detected by amplified-fragment SNP and methylation sequencing divided Population 1 into three groups and seven subgroups.An association analysis yielded 307 SNP markers related to theanine,caffeine,and catechins that were common to all three seasons.Some of the markers were pleiotropic.The functional annotation of 180 key genes at the SNP loci revealed that FLS,UGT,MYB,and WD40 domain-containing proteins,as well as ATP-binding cassette transporters,may be important for catechin synthesis.KEGG and GO analyses indicated that these genes are associated with metabolic pathways and secondary metabolite biosynthesis.Moreover,in Population 2(98 tea plant germplasm resources),30 candidate SNPs were verified,including 17 SNPs that were significantly or extremely significantly associated with specific metabolite levels.These results will provide a foundation for future research on important flavor-related metabolites and may help accelerate the breeding of new tea varieties.Kaixing Fang Zhiqiang Xia Hongjian Li Xiaohui Jiang Dandan Qin Qiushuang Wang Qing Wang Chendong Pan Bo Li Hualing Wu 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:10
4Towards visible-wavelength passively mode-locked lasers in all-fibre format显示文摘Mode-locked fibre lasers(MLFLs)are fundamental building blocks of many photonic systems used in industrial,scientific and biomedical applications.To date,1–2μm MLFLs have been well developed;however,passively modelocked fibre lasers in the visible region(380–760 nm)have never been reported.Here,we address this challenge by demonstrating an all-fibre visible-wavelength passively mode-locked picosecond laser at 635 nm.The 635 nm mode-locked laser with an all-fibre figure-eight cavity uses a Pr/Yb codoped ZBLAN fibre as the visible gain medium and a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror as the mode-locking element.First,we theoretically predict and analyse the formation and evolution of 635 nm mode-locked pulses in the dissipative soliton resonance(DSR)regime by solving the Ginzburg-Landau equation.Then,we experimentally demonstrate the stable generation of 635 nm DSR mode-locked pulses with a pulse duration as short as~96 ps,a radio-frequency signal-to-noise ratio of 67 dB and a narrow spectral bandwidth of <0.1 nm.The experimental results are in excellent agreement with our numerical simulations.In addition,we also observe 635 nm noise-like pulse operation with a wide(>1 nm)and modulated optical spectrum.This work represents an important step towards miniaturized ultrafast fibre lasers in the visible spectral region.Jinhai Zou Chuchu Dong Hongjian Wang Tuanjie Du Zhengqian Luo 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:9

6Use of calcein and alizarin red S for immersion marking of black rockfish Sebastes schlegelii juveniles显示文摘Black rockfi sh Sebastes schlegelii juveniles(30–40 mm total length) were immersed in a range of calcein(CAL) solutions at concentrations ranging from 50 to 250 mg/L and alizarin red S(ARS) solutions at concentrations ranging from 100 to 500 mg/L in fi ltered seawater(salinity 30) for 24 h. Fluorescent marks were detected in otoliths(sagittae, asteriscus), scales, fi n rays(dorsal, pectoral, ventral, anal, and caudal fi n rays), and fi n spines(dorsal, ventral, and anal fi n spines) after a 60-d growth experiment. With the exception of 50–100 mg/L CAL, acceptable marks were produced in the otoliths and fi n spines by all concentrations of CAL and ARS. In particular, marks were clearly visible under normal light in the sagittae, asteriscus, and fi n spines of fi sh immersed in 200–500 mg/L, 300–500 mg/L, and 200–500 mg/L ARS, respectively. Scales and fi n rays had acceptable marks at much higher concentrations(≥50 mg/L CAL, ≥300 mg/L ARS for scales and ≥50 mg/L CAL, ≥200 mg/L ARS for fi n rays). The mark quality was highest(i.e., acceptable marks were observed in all sampled structures after immersion marking) in fi sh immersed in 150–250 mg/L CAL or 300–500 mg/L ARS. 7Smart breeding driven by big data, artificial intelligence, and integrated genomic-enviromic prediction显示文摘The first paradigm of plant breeding involves direct selection-based phenotypic observation,followed by predictive breeding using statistical models for quantitative traits constructed based on genetic experimental design and,more recently,by incorporation of molecular marker genotypes.However,plant performance or phenotype(P)is determined by the combined effects of genotype(G),envirotype(E),and genotype by environment interaction(GEI).Phenotypes can be predicted more precisely by training a model using data collected from multiple sources,including spatiotemporal omics(genomics,phenomics,and enviromics across time and space).Integration of 3D information profiles(G-P-E),each with multidimensionality,provides predictive breeding with both tremendous opportunities and great challenges.Here,we first review innovative technologies for predictive breeding.We then evaluate multidimensional information profiles that can be integrated with a predictive breeding strategy,particularly envirotypic data,which have largely been neglected in data collection and are nearly untouched in model construction.We propose a smart breeding scheme,integrated genomic-enviromic prediction(iGEP),as an extension of genomic prediction,using integrated multiomics information,big data technology,and artificial intelligence(mainly focused on machine and deep learning).We discuss how to implement iGEP,including spatiotemporal models,environmental indices,factorial and spatiotemporal structure of plant breeding data,and cross-species prediction.A strategy is then proposed for prediction-based crop redesign at both the macro(individual,population,and species)and micro(gene,metabolism,and network)scales.Finally,we provide perspectives on translating smart breeding into genetic gain through integrative breeding platforms and open-source breeding initiatives.We call for coordinated efforts in smart breeding through iGEP,institutional partnerships,and innovative technological support.Yunbi Xu Xingping Zhang Huihui Li Hongjian Zheng Jianan Zhang Michael S.Olsen Rajeev K.Varshney Boddupalli M.Prasanna Qian Qian 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,11:7
8Dynamic analysis of granite rockburst based on the PIV technique显示文摘This paper describes the deep rockburst simulation system to reproduce the granite instantaneous rockburst process.Based on the PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry)technique,quantitative analysis of a rockburst,the images of tracer particle,displacement and strain fields can be obtained,and the debris trajectory described.According to the observation of on-site tests,the dynamic rockburst is actually a gas–solid high speed flow process,which is caused by the interaction of rock fragments and surrounding air.With the help of analysis on high speed video and PIV images,the granite rockburst failure process is composed of six stages of platey fragment spalling and debris ejection.Meanwhile,the elastic energy for these six stages has been calculated to study the energy variation.The results indicate that the rockburst process can be summarized as:an initiating stage,intensive developing stage and gradual decay stage.This research will be helpful for our further understanding of the rockburst mechanism.Wang Hongjian Liu Da'an Gong Weili Li Liyun 2015International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2015,25,2:6
9Study of high-precision earth sensor with triple-FOV显示文摘Earth sensors are widely used in spacecraft for attitude determination. They need to have a very large field of view(FOV)( > 120°) and relatively low accuracy while being used in the aircrafts around orbit. A triple-FOV infrared earth sensor is proposed in this paper. It uses three pieces of standard infrared detectors with a wavelength range of 14;16μm,to sense the horizontal circle by detecting the infrared light emitted from the earth. From which,the geocentric vector can be obtained. A mathematic model is established and a validation model is set up to provide input parameters for the mathematic model. The simulation results of the two models show that the output of the mathematic model coincides with the known parameters. Based on the above analysis,a prototype has been built and tested. 10A comparative study of two porous sponge scaffolds prepared by collagen derived from porcine skin and fish scales as burn wound dressings in a rabbit model显示文摘Collagen is widely used in biomedical applications due to its outstanding properties.In this study,highly porous sponge scaffolds were developed by using porcine skin-derived collagen(PSC)and fish scale-derived collagen(FSC),respectively.The morphology and composition of these PSC and FSC scaffolds were compared.The water uptake ratio of FSC scaffolds reached 47.8,which is 1.7 times of PSC scaffolds.The water vapour transmission rates(WVTR)of PSC and FSC scaffolds were 952.6655.5 and 1090.9677.1 g/m2/day,which could produce a moist healing environment for wounds.Both scaffolds show non-toxicity to L929 fibroblast cells.The burn wound healing efficiency of these two scaffolds was examined in vivo using rabbits.No scars around the wounds were observed after applying PSC and SFC scaffolds.Histopathological studies reveal that the wound treated with PSC and FSC scaffolds showed much better wound recovery than gauze and vaseline gauze groups.It was suggested that FSC scaffolds have great potential as same as PSC to be used as burn wound dressing materials.Yufei Shi Hongjian Zhang Xin Zhang Zhan Chen Dan Zhao Jun Ma 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,1:6
11Effect of Mixing on Properties and Microstructure of Magnesium Oxychloride Cement显示文摘This paper investigated the effect of mixing on the properties of magnesium oxychloride cement, such as apparent viscosity, setting time, compressive strength, and specific strength as well. The phase composition and crystallographic structure of the cement were determined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that the increases of stirring rate and mixing time change apparent viscosity distinctly, shorten setting time and enhance mechanical property. Magnesium oxychloride cement after mixing for 20 min exhibits the optimal mechanical performance. The effect of stirring rate on the phase composition of magnesium oxychloride cement dominates over the effect of mixing time. The increases of stirring rate and mixing time can increase the dispersion state and accelerate the neutralization, thus promoting the strength of magnesium oxychloride cement due to the formation of stable 5·1·8 phase, needle-like crystals and continuous crystalline structure in the whole cement matrix. 13Catalytic oxidation of CO on mesoporous codoped ceria catalysts:Insights into correlation of physicochemical property and catalytic activity显示文摘Codoping approach is an appealing strategy to further improve the catalytic activity of Ce-based catalysts.In the present study,Mn and/or Cu doped ceria solid solutions MnxCuyCe1-x-yO2,CuxCe1-xO2,MnxCe1-xO2 and pure CeO2 were prepared by CTAB-assisted hydrothermal method for CO oxidation.XRD,SEM,EDS,BET,Raman,H2-TPR,XPS and in situ DRIFTS techniques were carried out to study the physicochemical properties and to correlate them to the activity.The doped samples maintain the cubic fluorite structure of CeO2 with high crystallinity and small crystallite size,forming Ce-based solid solutions.The obtained catalysts have large mesoporous structure with average pore size of 10-14 nm.The doped transition metal enhances the oxygen vacancies and improves reducibility of the solids.The synergistic interaction of Mn and Cu codoping induces mo re oxygen vacancies,pro moting the increase of surface adsorbed oxygen and the transfer of bulk oxygen of catalyst,thereby enhancing the catalytic activity for CO oxidation.Besides,the decomposition rate of the carbonate species which is derived from in situ DRIFTS for each catalyst can provide a measure to evaluate its catalytic activity of CO oxidation.Hongjian Zhu Yingying Chen Yibo Gao Wenxu Liu Zhongpeng Wang Chenchen Cui Wei Liu Liguo Wang 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,9:5
14Genetic improvement of heat tolerance in wheat:Recent progress in understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms显示文摘As a cool season crop, wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) has an optimal daytime growing temperature of 15 ℃ during the reproductive stage. With global climate change, heat stress is becoming an increasingly severe constraint on wheat production. In this review, we summarize recent progress in understanding the molecular mechanisms of heat tolerance in wheat. We firstly describe the impact of heat tolerance on morphology and physiology and its potential effect on agronomic traits. We then review recent discoveries in determining the genetic and molecular factors affecting heat tolerance, including the effects of phytohormone signaling and epigenetic regulation. 16Multiaxial fatigue life prediction of composite materials显示文摘In order to analyze the stress and strain fields in the fibers and the matrix in composite materials,a fiber-scale unit cell model is established and the corresponding periodical boundary conditions are introduced.Assuming matrix cracking as the failure mode of composite materials,an energy-based fatigue damage parameter and a multiaxial fatigue life prediction method are established.This method only needs the material properties of the fibers and the matrix to be known.After the relationship between the fatigue damage parameter and the fatigue life under any arbitrary test condition is established,the multiaxial fatigue life under any other load condition can be predicted.The proposed method has been verified using two different kinds of load forms.One is unidirectional laminates subjected to cyclic off-axis loading,and the other is filament wound composites subjected to cyclic tension-torsion loading.The fatigue lives predicted using the proposed model are in good agreements with the experimental results for both kinds of load forms.Jingmeng WENG Weidong WEN Hongjian ZHANG 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,3:4
17Expressed sequence tags analysis revealing the taxonomic position and fatty acid biosynthesis in an oleaginous green microalga,Myrmecia incisa Reisigl(Trebouxiophyceae,Chlorophyta)显示文摘cDNA library of Myrmecia incisa H4301 was constructed using λ phage vectors.The library consisted of 1.5×10 6 clones with a recombination rate of 90%,and 1942 clones were randomly sequenced.All 1854 readable expressed sequence tags(ESTs) were clustered into 596 non-redundant sequences(NRSs),among which 126 NRSs were from 1384 ESTs,showing a high redundancy.Among the 596 NRSs,30 were ribosomal RNA,and 152 significantly matched with those available in NCBI database and JGI Genome Portal,the latter were divided into nine subcategories.Overall,59 NRSs were involved in photosynthesis,the respiratory electron transport chain,ATP synthesis,oxidation reduction,fatty acid biosynthesis,glucose metabolism,protein metabolism,and small molecular metabolism,suggesting that these genes were abundantly transcribed during energy and substance metabolism.Acyl-carrier protein,ferrodoxin and fatty acid elongase genes obtained from this cDNA library enabled presumption of a possible biosynthesis pathway of ArA in M.incisa.Codon usage analysis of 142 NRSs with 17798 codons in the predicted coding regions showed that the average G+C content level of the total codons was 55.39%,and that of the third position in base trimers was 66.42%,indicating a strong bias toward cytosine and/or guanosine in this algal genome.Among all synonymous codons,NAG was most favored,while NUA was most avoided.Phylogenic trees inferred from ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase small subunit genes and the extra partial sequences of 18S rRNA obtained from this library demonstrated that M.incisa belonged to Trebouxiophyceae and was significantly clustered with M.incisa SAG 2007,Lobosphaera tirolensis,M.bisecta,and Parietochloris incisa,but was clearly distant from P.pseudoalveolaris and P.alveolar.Transmission electron microscopy revealed pyrenoids traversed by many parallel thylakoids membranes,while starch grains were only clearly observed when cells were grown under nitrogen stress.Based on combined investigation of the phylogeny and morphological characteristics,it is proposed that M.incisa be kept in the genus Myrmecia in which there might be two parallel groups,one living freely and another symbiotic species.OUYANG LongLing DU DaoHai YU ShuiYan LI ChunYang ZHANG ChengWu GAO HongJian ZHOU ZhiGang 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,25:4

19Projections of changes in marine environment in coastal China seas over the 21^st century based on CMIP5 models显示文摘The increases of atmospheric carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have caused fundamental changes to the physical and biogeochemical properties of the oceans,and it will continue to occur in the foreseeable future.Based on the outputs of nine Earth System Models from the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP5),in this study,we provided a synoptic assessment of future changes in the sea surface temperature(SST),salinity,dissolved oxygen(DO),seawater pH,and marine net primary productivity(NPP)in the coastal China seas over the 21st century.The results show that the mid-high latitude areas of the coastal China seas(East China Seas(ECS),including the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea,and East China Sea)will be simultaneously exposed to enhanced warming,deoxygenation,acidification,and decreasing NPP as a consequence of increasing greenhouse gas emissions.The magnitudes of the changes will increase as the greenhouse gas concentrations increase.Under the high emission scenario(Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5),the ECS will experience an SST increase of 3.24±1.23℃,a DO concentration decrease of 10.90±3.92μmol/L(decrease of 6.3%),a pH decline of 0.36±0.02,and a NPP reduction of-17.7±6.2 mg/(m2·d)(decrease of 12.9%)relative to the current levels(1980-2005)by the end of this century.The co-occurrence of these changes and their cascade effects are expected to induce considerable biological and ecological responses,thereby making the ECS among the most vulnerable ocean areas to future climate change.Despite high uncertainties,our results have important implications for regional marine assessments.TAN Hongjian CAI Rongshuo HUO Yunlong GUO Haixia 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,6:4
20Plasmon-tunable Au@Ag core-shell spiky nanoparticles for surfaceenhanced Raman scattering显示文摘A facile synthetic approach has been developed to prepare uniform and size-tunable spiky Au@Ag core-shell nan oparticles (NPs) to tailor the localized surface plasm on res onance (LSPR) properties. The gradual assembly of small Au nano crystals allows the size of spiky Au NPs to be modulated from tens to several hundreds of nano meters by tuning the concentration of initial Au seeds and Au source;and the thick ness of the Ag shell can be adjusted with stepwise reduction of Ag(l)ions. The LSPR bands of such spiky Au@Ag core-shell NPs resemble those of pure spiky Au NP cores of similar sizes in near-infrared region, and increasing the Ag shell thickness results in a blue shift and broadening of the LSPR band in the n ear-i nfrared regi on. Additi on ally, the spiky Au@Ag core-shell NPs exhibit improved surface-e nhan ced Rama n scattering (SERS) activity as compared to the bare spiky Au NPs and spherical Ag@Au NPs.
