1Antibacterial and Antibiotic-Potentiation Activities of Some Cameroonian Food Plants against Multi-Drug Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the in vitro antibacterial properties and the ability to potentiate some common antibiotics effects of the methanol extracts of 11 Cameroonian food plants on 29 Gram-negative bacteria expressing multidrug resistant(MDR) phenotypes.Methods:The antimicrobial activity of the extracts was performed using the broth microdilution method.The phytochemical screening of these extracts was also performed using standard methods.Resutts:Ocimum basilicum,Gnetum africanum and Eucalyptus robusta extracts possessed an antibacterial activity against all the 29 studied bacteria.The extracts from G.africanum and E.robusta were the most active with the lowest minimal inhibitory concentration of 64 μg/mL on Escherichia coli AG100 A for both extracts and also against Klebsiella pneumoniae K24 for G.africanum.When tested in the presence of phenylalanine-arginine β-Naphtylamide(PA β N),an efflux pump inhibitor,the extract of Thymus vulgaris and E.Robusta showed the best activities on most tested strains.E.Robusta extract showed good synergistic effects,improving the activity of commonly used antibiotics in about 85%of cases.Conclusion:The overall results obtained provide the baseline information for the use of the tested plants in the treatment of bacterial infections.Simplice B.Tankeo Stephen T.Lacmata Jaures A.K.Noumedem Jean P.Dzoyem Jules R Kuiate Victor Kuete 2014Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2014,20,7:7
2NG2 Cell Response in the CNP-EGFP Mouse After Contusive Spinal Cord Injury显示文摘成年动物中枢神经系统中的NG2细胞具有异质性。脊髓损伤(SCI)后,具有少突胶质前体细胞(OPCs)功能的NG2细胞亚型如何产生反应性变化及对其正常的发育过程有何影响目前还不清楚。本文采用少突胶质细胞系细胞表达EGFP的CNP-EGFP小鼠,研究正常和SCI后的NG2细胞的特征。在正常小鼠的白质中,对EGFP+NG2+双极细胞和EGFPnegNG2+多极细胞进行鉴别。SCI后,白质损伤边缘区中的EGFP+NG2+细胞3 d增殖达高峰,损伤中心区的EGFPnegNG2+细胞增殖在损伤后7 d达高峰。损伤后EGFP+NG2+细胞的Olig2、Sox10、Sox17等转录因子、基本的膜电生理参数以及钾电流表型均与发育过程增殖的OPCs一致。EGFPnegNG2+细胞不表达少突胶质发生中的转录因子。EGFP+CC1+少突胶质细胞6周时包含在EGFP+NG2+细胞增殖峰时表达BrdU的细胞。EGFPnegCC1+少突胶质细胞未被观察到。神经胶质生长因子2和成纤维细胞生长因子2处理促进少突胶质发生,提高EGFPnegNG2+细胞数量。因此,通过EGFP和转录因子表达,时空增殖类型及对生长因子的反应,两种类型的NG2+细胞对SCI刺激发生反应。SCI后EGFP+NG2+细胞经受细胞和生理变化特征,与在早期出生后的少突胶质发生过程中NG2+细胞中的变化类似。JUDITH M LYTLE RAMESH CHITTAJALLU JEAN R WRATHALL VITTORIO GALLO 2009神经损伤与功能重建2009,4,1:7

5Urbanization reduces resource use efficiency of phytoplankton community by altering the environment and decreasing biodiversity显示文摘Urbanization often exerts multiple effects on aquatic and terrestrial organisms,including changes in biodiversity,species composition and ecosystem functions.However,the impacts of urbanization on river phytoplankton in subtropical urbanizing watersheds remain largely unknown.Here,we explored the effects of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure(i.e.,biomass,community composition and diversity)and function(i.e.,resource use efficiency)in a subtropical river at watershed scale in southeast China over 6 years.A total of 318 phytoplankton species belonging into 120 genera and 7 phyla were identified from 108 samples.Bacillariophyta biomass showed an increasing trend with increasing urbanization level.The phytoplankton community shifted from Chlorophyta dominance in rural upstream waters to Bacillariophyta dominance in urbanized downstream waters.Furthermore,phytoplankton diversity and resource use efficiency(RUE=phytoplankton biomass/total phosphorus)were significantly decreased with increasing urbanization level from upstream to downstream.Phytoplankton RUE exhibited a significant positive correlation with species richness,but a negative correlation with phytoplankton evenness.The variation in environmental factors(turbidity,total nitrogen,NH_(4)^(+)-N,total phosphorus,PO_(4)^(3-)-P and percentage urbanized area)was significantly correlated with phytoplankton diversity and RUE.Overall,our results revealed the influence of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure and ecosystem function was due to its altering the environmental conditions.Therefore,human-driven urbanization may play crucial roles in shaping the structure and function of phytoplankton communities in subtropical rivers,and the mechanism of this process can provide important information for freshwater sustainable uses,watershed management and conservation.Yigang Yang Huihuang Chen Mamun Abdullah Al Jean Claude Ndayishimiye Jun R Yang Alain Isabwe Anqi Luo Jun Yang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:4

7Killing of p53-deficient hepatoma cells by parvovirus H-1 and chemotherapeutics requires promyelocytic leukemia protein显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the synergistic targeting and killing of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells lacking p53 by the oncolytic autonomous parvovirus (PV) H-1 and chemotherapeutic agents and its dependence on functional promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML). METHODS: The role of p53 and PML in regulating cy-totoxicity and gene transfer mediated by wild-type (wt) PV H-1 were explored in two pairs of isogenic human hepatoma cell lines with different p53 status. Further-more,H-1 PV infection was combined with cytostatic drug treatment. RESULTS: While the HCC cells with different p53 status studied were all susceptible to H-1 PV-induced apoptosis,the cytotoxicity of H-1 PV was morepronounced in p53-negative than in p53-positive cells. Apoptosis rates in p53-negative cell lines treated by genotoxic drugs were further enhanced by a treatment with H-1 PV. In flow cytometric analyses,H-1 PV infection resulted in a reduction of the mitochondrial transmembrane potential. In addition,H-1 PV cells showed a significant increase in PML expression. Knocking down PML expression resulted in a striking reduction of the level of H-1 PV infected tumor cell death. CONCLUSION: H-1 PV is a suitable agent to circumvent the resistance of p53-negative HCC cells to genotoxic agents,and it enhances the apoptotic process which is dependent on functional PML.
