1Enhanced secondary pollution offset reduction of primary emissions during COVID-19 lockdown in China显示文摘To control the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus(COVID-19),China imposed nationwide restrictions on the movement of its population(lockdown)after the Chinese New Year of 2020,leading to large reductions in economic activities and associated emissions.Despite such large decreases in primary pollution,there were nonetheless several periods of heavy haze pollution in eastern China,raising questions about the well-established relationship between human activities and air quality.Here,using comprehensive measurements and modeling,we show that the haze during the COVID lockdown was driven by enhancements of secondary pollution.In particular,large decreases in NOx emissions from transportation increased ozone and nighttime NO_(3)radical formation,and these increases in atmospheric oxidizing capacity in turn facilitated the formation of secondary particulate matter.Our results,afforded by the tragic natural experiment of the COVID-19 pandemic,indicate that haze mitigation depends upon a coordinated and balanced strategy for controlling multiple pollutants.Xin Huang Aijun Ding Jian Gao Bo Zheng Derong Zhou Ximeng Qi Rong Tang Jiaping Wang Chuanhua Ren Wei Nie Xuguang Chi Zheng Xu Liangduo Chen Yuanyuan Li Fei Che Nini Pang Haikun Wang Dan Tong Wei Qin Wei Cheng Weijing Liu Qingyan Fu Baoxian Liu Fahe Chai Steven JDavis Qiang Zhang Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:47
2Phase I study of CAR-T cells with PD-1 and TCR disruption in mesothelin-positive solid tumors显示文摘Programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1)-mediated immunosuppression has been proposed to contribute to the limited clinical efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T(CAR-T)cells in solid tumors.We generated PD-1 and T cell receptor(TCR)deficient mesothelin-specific CAR-T(MPTK-CAR-T)cells using CRISPR-Cas9 technology and evaluated them in a dose-escalation study.A total of 15 patients received one or more infusions of MPTK-CAR-T cells without prior lymphodepletion.No dose-limiting toxicity or unexpected adverse events were observed in any of the 15 patients.The best overall response was stable disease(2/15 patients).Circulating MPTK-CAR-T cells peaked at days 7–14 and became undetectable beyond 1 month.TCR-positive CAR-T cells rather than TCR-negative CAR-T cells were predominantly detected in effusion or peripheral blood from three patients after infusion.We further confirmed the reduced persistence of TCR-deficient CAR-T cells in animal models.Our results establish the preliminary feasibility and safety of CRISPR-engineered CAR-T cells with PD-1 disruption and suggest that the natural TCR plays an important role in the persistence of CAR-T cells when treating solid tumors.Zhenguang Wang Na Li Kaichao Feng Meixia Chen Yan Zhang Yang Liu Qingming Yang Jing Nie Na Tang Xingying Zhang Chen Cheng Lianjun Shen Jiaping He Xun Ye Wei Cao Haoyi Wang Weidong Han 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:7
3Spatiotemporal Mapping of Salt Marshes in the Intertidal Zone of China during 1985-2019显示文摘This study mapped the areal extent,identified the species composition,and analyzed the changes of salt marshes in the intertidal zone of China during the period 1985–2019.With the aid of the cloud platform of the Google Earth Engine,we selected Landsat 5/8 and Sentinel-2 images and used the support vector machine classification method to extract salt marsh information for the years of 1985,1990,1995,2000,2005,2010,2015,and 2019.Seven major species of salt marshes:Phragmites australis,Suaeda spp.,Spartina alterniflora,Scirpus mariqueter,Tamarix chinensis,Cyperus malaccensis,and Sesuvium portulacastrum were identified.Our results showed that salt marshes are mainly distributed in Liaoning,Shandong,Jiangsu,Shanghai,and Zhejiang,with varying patterns of shrinking,expansion,or wavering in different places.The distribution of salt marshes has declined considerably from 151,324 ha in 1985 to 115,397 ha in 2019,a drop of 23.7%.During the same period,the area of native species has dropped 95.4%from 77,741 ha to 3,563 ha for Suaeda spp.and 45.1%from 60,511 ha to 33,193 ha for P.australis;on the contrary,the area of exotic species,S.alterniflora,has exhibited a sharp rise from just 99 ha to 67,527 ha.For the past 35 years,the driving factors causing salt marsh changes are mainly land reclamation,variations in water and sand fluxes,and interspecific competition and succession of salt marsh vegetation.These results provide fundamental reference information and could form the scientific basis for formulating policies for the conservation and utilization of salt marsh resources in China.Guangwei Chen Runjie Jin Zhanjiang Ye Qi Li Jiali Gu Min Luo Yongming Luo George Christakos James Morris Junyu He Dan Li Hengwei Wang Li Song Qiuxuan Wang Jiaping Wu 2022Journal of Remote Sensing2022,,1:2

9Microscale comprehensive evaluation of continental shale oil recoverability显示文摘This paper targets the shale oil reservoirs of middle to high maturity in four major basins of China,including the Permian Lucaogou Formation of the Jimsar Sag in the Junggar Basin,the Chang 73 Member of the Triassic Yanchang Formation in the Longdong area of the Ordos Basin,the Kong 2 Member of the Paleogene Kongdian Formation in Cangdong Sag of the Bohai Bay Basin,and the Qing 1 Member of the Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in Changling Sag of the Songliao Basin.The key parameters of the shale oil reservoirs in the four basins,such as reservoirs effectiveness,oil content,crude oil movability,and fracability,have been revealed under identical experimental conditions using the same evaluation technical system,on the basis of technique development and integrated application of multi-scale spatial distribution depiction,effective connectivity calculation,movable oil assessment based on the charging effect,and simulation of fracture propagation during reservoir stimulation.This research overcomes insufficient resolutions of conventional analysis approaches and difficulties in quantitative evaluation,develops the evaluation method for resource recoverability of different types of shale oil,and gains insights into different types of shale oil via comparison.The results of experiments and comparative analysis show that there are significant differences in the endowment of continental shale oil resources in the four major basins in China.Among them,the Lucaogou Formation in the Junggar Basin has more effective shale reservoirs,the Chang 73 sub-member of the Ordos Basin has a comparatively good proportion of movable oil and the Kong 2 Member of the Bohai Bay Basin has the best fracability.These results can provide references and basis for choosing development plans and engineering techniques.JIN Xu LI Guoxin MENG Siwei WANG Xiaoqi LIU Chang TAO Jiaping LIU He 2021Petroleum Exploration and Development2021,48,1:0
10Organization and evolution of climate responsive strategies,used in Turpan vernacular buildings in arid region of China显示文摘Under the global crisis of energy shortage and environmental pollution,the climate responsive strategies used in vernacular buildings have attracted much attention for their potential to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.However,the relationships between these traditional climatic strategies were not precisely perceived,which may cause the inapplicability of these strategies for contemporary rural houses.In this paper,taking the Turpan vernacular buildings in arid region of China,the climate responsive strategies of buildings in the most significant periods such as the Gaochang period(before 1318),the Khanate and Republican period(1318–1949),the Modern period(1949–2010),and the Contemporary period(2011–present)were summarized.In addition,two different types of climatic strategies organizations,namely multilayer spaces and integrated building envelopes,were identified based on the temperature difference measurement and comparative analysis.The assessment of thermal performance of the organizations was conducted by the methodology of software simulation.Furthermore,the applicability of the organizations in rural areas was discussed,and a new combined organization was proposed.Consequently,this study can contribute to provide the main approaches for climatically responsive rural houses.Wenfang He Zhenying Wu Ran Jin Jiaping Liu 2023Frontiers of Architectural Research2023,12,3:0
11Practice and development suggestions of hydraulic fracturing technology in the Gulong shale oil reservoirs of Songliao Basin, NE China显示文摘This paper reviews the multiple rounds of upgrades of the hydraulic fracturing technology used in the Gulong shale oil reservoirs and gives suggestions about stimulation technology development in relation to the production performance of Gulong shale oil wells.Under the control of high-density bedding fractures,fracturing in the Gulong shale results in a complex fracture morphology,yet with highly suppressed fracture height and length.Hydraulic fracturing fails to generate artificial fractures with sufficient lengths and heights,which is a main restraint on the effective stimulation in the Gulong shale oil reservoirs.In this regard,the fracturing design shall follow the strategy of'controlling near-wellbore complex fractures and maximizing the extension of main fractures'Increasing the proportions of guar gum fracturing fluids,reducing perforation clusters within one fracturing stage,raising pump rates and appropriately exploiting stress interference are conducive to fracture propagation and lead to a considerably expanded stimulated reservoir volume(SRV).The upgraded main hydraulic fracturing technology is much more applicable to the Gulong shale oil reservoirs.It accelerates the oil production with a low flowback rate and lifts oil cut during the initial production of well groups,which both help to improve well production.It is suggested to optimize the hydraulic fracturing technology in six aspects,namely,suppressing propagation of near-wellbore microfractures,improving the pumping scheme of CO_(2),managing the perforating density,enhancing multi-proppant combination,reviewing well pattern/spacing,and discreetly applying fiber-assisted injection,so as to improve the SRv,the distal fracture complexity and the long-term fracture conductivity.LIU He HUANG Youquan CAI Meng MENG Siwei TAO Jiaping 2023Petroleum Exploration and Development2023,50,3:0

13The histone H3K27 demethylase REF6/JMJ12 promotes thermomorphogenesis in Arabidopsis显示文摘Dynamic trimethylation of histone H3 at Lys27(H3 K27 me3)affects gene expression and controls plant development and environmental responses.In Arabidopsis thaliana,RELATIVE OF EARLY FLOWERING 6(REF6)/JUMONJI DOMAIN-CONTAINING PROTEIN 12 demethylates H3 K27 me3 by recognizing a specific DNA motif.However,little is known about how REF6 activates target gene expression after recognition,especially in environmental responses.In response to warm ambient temperature,plants undergo thermomorphogenesis,which involves accelerated growth,early flowering and changes in morphology.Here we show that REF6 regulates thermomorphogenesis and cooperates with the transcription factor PHYTOCHROME INTERACTING FACTOR 4 to synergistically activate thermoresponsive genes under warm ambient temperature.The ref6 loss-of-function mutants exhibited attenuated hypocotyl elongation at warm temperature,partially due to downregulation of GIBBERELLIN20-OXIDASE 2 and BASIC HELIX-LOOP-HELIX 87.REF6 enzymatic activity is necessary for warm ambient temperature responses.Together,our results provide direct evidence of an epigenetic modifier and a transcription factor working together to respond to the environment.Kaixuan He Hailiang Mei Jiaping Zhu Qi Qiu Xiaofeng Cao Xian Deng 2022National Science Review2022,9,5:0
