4In Vitro Antifungal Activity of Some Traditional Persian Medicinal Plants on Pathogenic Fungi显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antifungal activities of the extracts and sub-fractions of Phlomis olivieri,Verbascum speciosum,Sambucus ebulus and Erigeron hyrcanicus,four Persian medicinal plants used in Iranian folk medicine.Methods:Evaluation of the antifungal activity was performed on the clinical isolates of pathogenic fungi including Aspergillus fumigatus,A.flavus,Trichophyton mentagrophytes,T.rubrum,T.verrucosum,Microsporum canis,M.gypseum and Epidermophyton floccosum,and the yeast Candida albicans.The susceptibility tests were done by agar well diffusion method.The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration(MFC) of active extracts and sub-fractions were measured using method of National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards(NCCLS).Results:Only P.olivieri sub-fractions were found to have fungicidal activity among the other investigated plants.The MIC and MFC was found to be high in petroleum ether,chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions(100 and 200 mg/m L) against the studied pathogenic fungi and the yeast Candida albicans.P.olivieri sub-fractions significantly inhibited the growth of all pathogenic fungi and the yeast studied.Conclusion:If the antifungal activity of P.olivieri is confirmed by in vivo studies and if the responsible compound(s) is isolated and identified,it could be a good remedy for mycotic infections.Jinous Asgarpanah Seyyed Jamal Hashemi Elham Hashemi Kiana Askari 2017Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,23,6:1

9Metastatic patterns and surgical methods for lymph nodes No.5 and No.6 in proximal gastric cancer显示文摘Objective: The current surgical treatment guidelines for early proximal gastric cancer(PGC) still lack agreement. Lymphadenectomy of lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6 is the major difference between total and proximal gastrectomy. We elucidated the appropriate surgical procedure for PGC by investigating the pathological characteristics and prognostic significance of lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6.Methods: In total, 333 PGC patients who underwent total gastrectomy were enrolled in this study. We investigated their clinicopathological characteristics and the metastatic patterns of the lymph nodes. Patients with metastasis in lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6 were combined into one group and we compared the difference in survival between those with and without metastasis in lymph nodes No. 5, 6(lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6 in any group of metastasis) for different subgroups.Results: The metastatic rates for lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6 in PGC were 9.91% and 16.11%, respectively.The metastatic rate for both lymph nodes No. 5, 6 was 20.42%. Multivariate analysis showed that positive metastasis in lymph node No. 4, depth of invasion, and tumor size were independently correlated with the presence of metastasis in lymph nodes No. 5, 6.Conclusions: When lymph node No. 4 is positive(intraoperative pathology) or tumor size ≥5 cm or T4 stage,lymphadenectomy should be performed for lymph nodes No. 5 and No. 6, and total gastrectomy is recommended.Jinou Wang Pei Wu Zhenning Wang Kai Li Baojun Huang Pengliang Wang Huimian Xu Zhi Zhu 2019Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,1:1

11Integrated modeling of nitrogen oxides formation in diesel engines显示文摘To account for the effects of both chemistry and flow turbulence, the present study proposes an integrated NO sub-model that combines the extended Zel'dovich mechanism and engine CFD computations to simulate the NO histories in a diesel engine. NOx sub-model parameters and pollutant formation mechanisms can be more easily investigated by solving the NOx sub-model. The new NO formation model incorporating the effects of both chemical kinetics and turbulent mixing was applied to simulate a diesel engine with a quiescent combustion chamber, and one with a re-entrant combustion chamber; the premise of the model being the reaction rate is mainly determined by a kinetic timescale and a turbulent timescale. The results indicate that the predicted NO formulation from the new model agrees well with the measured data. As the utilization of fossil fuels continues to increase, the control of NOx emissions is a worldwide concern; and it is imperative to understand fully the NOx reaction processes in combustion systems. 13Uncovering the Impact of Control Strategies on the Transmission Pattern of SARS-CoV-2—Ruili City,Yunnan Province,China,February–March 2022显示文摘Introduction:The implementation of public health and social measures(PHSMs)was an effective option for controlling coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,evidence is needed to evaluate these PHSMs’effects on the recently emerged variant Omicron.Methods:This study investigated variant Omicron BA.2’s outbreak in Ruili City,Yunnan Province,China.The disease transmission dynamics,spatiotemporal interactions,and transmission networks were analyzed to illustrate the effect of PHSM strategies on Omicron spread.Results:A total of 387 cases were related to the outbreak.The time-varying reproduction number was synchronized with PHSM strategies.Spatiotemporal clustering strength presented heterogeneity and hotspots.Restricted strategies suppressed temporal and spatial relative risk compared with routine and upgraded strategies.The transmission network presented a steeper degree distribution and a heavier tail under upgraded strategies.Phase transformation and distinctive transmission patterns were observed from strategy-stratified subnetworks.Conclusions:The tightened response strategy contained reproduction of the virus,suppressed spatiotemporal clustering,and reshaped the networks of COVID-19 Omicron variant transmission.As such,PHSMs against Omicron are likely to benefit future responses as well.Jinou Chen Yubing Qiu Yuhua Shi Wei Wu Erda Zheng Lin Xu Manhong Jia 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,46:0
14Effects of topiramate on hippocampal neuronal apoptosis in rats after kainic acid-evoked seizures显示文摘BACKGROUND: Apoptosis plays an important role in brain injury after seizures and the formation of chronic epilepsy. It is important to investigate whether topiramate exhibits either antiepileptic and/or anti-apoptotic effects on hippocampal neurons. OBJECTIVE: To observe neuronal apoptosis in hippocampus of rat seizure models,and to investigate the antagonizing effect of topiramate on neuronal apoptosis after seizures. DESIGN: An animal experiment of comparative observation. SETTING: First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. MATERIALS: Sixty healthy male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats,4-6 weeks old and weighing 160-220 g,were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Guangxi Medical University. Main apparatus and reagents were as follows: Rat brain solid positioner (SR-6N,made in Japan); kainic acid by Sigma (USA); pathological image analyzer (DMR+550) by Leica (Germany); in situ apoptosis detection kit by Wuhan Boster Biological Technology Co.,Ltd; topiramate by Xi'an-Janssen Pharmaceutical,Ltd. The treatment on animals in the experiment was in accordance with the standards of animal ethics. METHODS: The experiments were performed at the Scientific Experimental Center of Guangxi Medical University from June to December 2006. The rats were randomly divided into a topiramate-treated group (n = 30) and a model group (n = 30). ① After anesthesia,all rats were administered a kainic acid injection (0.2 μL,2 g/L) into the right lateral ventricle. Grade Ⅲ and greater Racine standards were considered to be a successful model establishment. Thirty minutes after seizure ,rats in the topiramate-treated group were treated with an intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of topiramate every day (40 mg/kg/d) for 2 weeks. The rats in the model group were treated with an equal volume of saline for 2 weeks. ③ Six rats in the topiramate-treated group were sacrificed at 1 day,and 1,2,3,and 4 weeks after treatment,respectively. The model group animals were sacrificed at corresponding time points. The brain tissues of hippocampal dentate gyrus,CA1,CA2,and CA3 region were removed and prepared into sections. Neuronal apoptosis was detected with in situ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick-end labeling. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Hippocampal neuronal apoptosis in various rat brain areas was detected in the two groups. RESULTS: All 60 rats were included in the final analysis of results. In the topiramate-treated group,the number of apoptotic cells in hippocampal dentate gyrus and CA3 region at 1 day,1,and 4 weeks after seizures were significantly lower than the model group (P < 0.05-0.01). The number of apoptotic cells in hippocampal CA1 and CA2 regions at 1 day and 4 weeks after seizures in the topiramate-treated group were significantly lower than the model group (P < 0.05). 16(Ba_(1−x)Na_(x))F(Zn_(1−x)Mn_(x))Sb: A novel fluoride-antimonide magnetic semiconductor with decoupled charge and spin doping显示文摘We report the successful synthesis and characterization of a novel 1111-type magnetic semiconductor(Ba_(1−x)Na_(x))F(Zn_(1−x)Mn_(x))Sb(0.05≤x≤0.175)with tetragonal ZrSiCuAs-type structure,which is isostructural to the layered iron-based superconductor La(O,F)FeAs.Na substitutions for Ba and Mn substitutions for Zn introduce carriers and local magnetic moments,respectively.Ferromagnetic interaction is formed when Na and Mn are codoped,demonstrating that local magnetic moments are mediated by carriers.Iso-thermal magnetization shows that the coercive field is as large as-12000 Oe,which is also reflected in the large split between the temperature-dependent magnetization in zero-field-cooling and field-cooling condition.AC susceptibility under zero field demonstrates that samples evolve into spin-glass state below spin freezing temperature T_(f).The measurements of temperature-dependent resistivity indicate that(Ba_(1−x)Na_(x))F(Zn_(1−x)Mn_(x))Sb exhibits semiconducting behaviour.Xueqin Zhao Jinou Dong Licheng Fu Yilun Gu Rufei Zhang Qiaolin Yang Lingfeng Xie Yinsong Tang Fanlong Ning 2022Journal of Semiconductors2022,43,11:0
17Effect of Essential Oil of Zhumeria majdae on Morphine Tolerance and Dependence in Mice显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the effects of Zhumeria majdae essential oil(ZMEO)on morphine dependence and tolerance in mice.Methods:ZMEO(10,20,and 40 mg/kg)and clonidine(0.1 mg/kg)as the positive control were injected intraperitoneally(i.p.).The effect of ZMEO and clonidine on the dependence were evaluated by counting the number of jumps induced by naloxone(5 mg/kg)while the tolerance was evaluated by the tail-flick test.Results:ZMEO at the dose of 10 mg/kg during the development period led to a significant inhibition of morphine tolerance(P<0.01),while it led to reduced morphine dependence with the doses of 20 and 40 mg/kg.ZMEO at two dose levels of 20 and 40 mg/kg indicated significant antinociceptive activity(P<0.01),and significantly reduced the withdrawal signs(number of jumps)of mice(P<0.01).Conclusions:ZMEO had significant effects on morphine tolerance and dependence.The linalool rich essential oil of Zmajdae plays a major role in the reduction of tolerance and dependence induced by morphine.Zahra Ehtemami Hamed Shafaroodi Jinous Asgarpanah 2020Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,9:0
18Development and Application of a Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis Case Management System—Yunnan Province,China,2017–2020显示文摘Introduction:Treatment and case management of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis(MDR-TB)is a significant challenge in tuberculosis(TB)control and prevention.This pilot study aims to apply and test a new electronic information system in order to help bolster case management of MDR-TB.Methods:The MDR-TB Case Management System(CMS)was developed and piloted in the Yunnan Tuberculosis Clinical Center(TCC)in 2017.Next,5 sites in Yunnan were randomly selected and sampled as pilots in 2018.The real-time regular follow-up rate(RFUR)was calculated for pilot sites.Loss to follow-up(LTFU)rates of MDR-TB treatment cohorts between pilot and non-pilot sites were compared by a chi-square test.LTFU for MDR-TB treatment cohorts was then assessed by univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression.Results:The average regular follow-up rate was 90.7%in TCC and 73.7%in five other pilot sites of Yunnan Province respectively.The average LTFU rate for pilot sites(9.0%)was lower than non-pilot sites(20.6%,P<0.01).The risk of LTFU during MDR-TB treatment reduced 61.7%in CMS pilot cases(adjusted odds ratio:0.38,95%confidence interval:0.23–0.60)compared with non-pilot cases.Conclusions:As a significant supplement to the Tuberculosis Information Management System,the CMS strengthened the collection,analysis,and utilization of strategic information for MDR-TB cases.The system improved case management by embedding it as a tool of the Comprehensive Supportive Care service model.Jinou Chen Yunzhou Ruan Kai Wang Ling Li Yunbin Yang Rui Yang Lin Xu 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,38:0
19Analgesic and anti-inflammatory potential of aerial parts of the Daphne mucronata Royle extract in mice: Opioid-independent action显示文摘Objective: To investigate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory property and possible involvement of opioid receptors of ethyl acetate extract from aerial parts of Daphne mucronata(D. mucronata) in mice by formalin test.Methods: Single doses of 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/kg of body weight of ethyl acetate extract of D. mucronata were intraperitoneally administered to the mice 30 min before analgesic test. The anti-nociceptive effect of preparations was evaluated based on the formalin in mice.Results: The results indicated that the extract(2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/kg) increased the pain threshold of mice and induced analgesia in both phases of formalin test. Like morphine sulfate(5.0 mg/kg, i.p.), the extract also showed more effective analgesic effect on the late phase of formalin test. Pre-treatment of animals with naloxone(5.0 mg/kg i.p.)did not inhibit the effects of the extract.Conclusions: Our findings suggest that D. mucronata contains potential analgesic and anti-inflammatory compounds which support its traditional use. Moreover, it seems that the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the extract is mediated by non-opioid mechanisms.
