Microbial reduction of uranium(Ⅵ)by Bacillus sp.Dwc-2:A macroscopic and spectroscopic study显示文摘The microbial reduction of U(VI) by Bacillus sp. dwc-2, isolated from soil in Southwest China, was explored using transmission electron microscopy(TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy(XANES). Our studies indicated that approximately 16.0% of U(VI) at an initial concentration of 100 mg/L uranium nitrate could be reduced by Bacillus sp. dwc-2 at pH 8.2 under anaerobic conditions at room temperature.Additionally, natural organic matter(NOM) played an important role in enhancing the bioreduction of U(VI) by Bacillus sp. dwc-2. XPS results demonstrated that the uranium presented mixed valence states(U(VI) and U(IV)) after bioreduction, which was subsequently confirmed by XANES. Furthermore, the TEM and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) analysis suggested that the reduced uranium was bioaccumulated mainly within the cell and as a crystalline structure on the cell wall. These observations implied that the reduction of uranium may have a significant effect on its fate in the soil environment in which these bacterial strains occur.Xiaolong Li Congcong Ding Jiali Liao Liang Du Qun Sun Jijun Yang Yuanyou Yang Dong Zhang Jun Tang Ning Liu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,3:8
Removal of radioactive cesium from solutions by zinc ferrocyanide显示文摘Adsorption of ^(134)Cs from aqueous solution by zinc fcrrocyanide, and the effect of experimental conditions on the adsorption were investigated.Preliminary results showed that zinc ferrocyanide was very efficient as an absorbent.Over 98% of ^(134)Cs could be removed by zinc ferrocyanide of 0.33 g·L^(-1) from ^(134)Cs solution (Co) of 3.2~160.0 kBq·L^(-1),with adsorption capacities (Q) of 9.6~463.0 kBq·g^(-1).The adsorption equilibrium time was within one hour and the suitable pH ranged 1~10.No significant differences on ^(134)Cs adsorption were observed at 0~50℃,or in solutions containing Ca^(2+),Fe^(3+),Mg^(2+),HCO_3^-,CO_3^(2-),Cl and SO_4^(2-),even though they are 1000 times higher than the anions or cations in groundwater. However, the adsorption rates decreased when solutions contained K^+ or Na^+.The adsorption process could be described by Frcundlich and Langmuir adsorption equations.LI Bing LIAO Jiali WU Jiaojiao ZHANG Dong ZHAO Jun YANG Yuanyou CHENG Qiong FENG Yue LIU Ning 2008Nuclear Science and Techniques2008,19,2:5
Bioaccumulation characterization of uranium by a novel Streptomyces sporoverrucosus dwc-3显示文摘The biosorption mechanisms of uranium on an aerobic bacterial strain Streptomyces sporoverrucosus dwc-3,isolated from a potential disposal site for(ultra-)low uraniferous radioactive waste in Southwest China, were evaluated by using transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),proton induced X-ray emission(PIXE)and enhanced proton backscattering spectrometry(EPBS).Approximately60% of total uranium at an initial concentration of 10 mg/L uranium nitrate solution could be absorbed on 100 mg S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 with an adsorption capacity of more than3.0 mg/g(wet weight)after 12 hr at room temperature at p H 3.0.The dynamic biosorption process of S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 for uranyl ions was well described by a pseudo second-order model.S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 could accumulate uranium on cell walls and within the cell,as revealed by SEM and TEM analysis as well as EDX spectra.XPS and FT-IR analysis further suggested that the absorbed uranium was bound to amino, phosphate and carboxyl groups of the cells.Additionally,PIXE and EPBS results confirmed that ion exchange also contributed to the adsorption process of uranium.Xiaolong Li Congcong Ding Jiali Liao Liang Du Qun Sun Jijun Yang Yuanyou Yang Dong Zhang Jun Tang Ning Liu 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:5
Interaction between uranium and humic acid (Ⅱ): complexation, precipitation and migration behavior of U(Ⅵ) in the presence of humic substances显示文摘The complexation, precipitation, and migration behavior of uranium in the presence of humic acid (HA) or fulvic acid (FA) were investigated by cation exchange, ultrafiltration and dynamic experiment, respectively. The results showed that (i) complex equilibrium between the uranium and humic substances was achieved at approximately 72 h, (ii) the coordination number varied from 1:1 to 1:2 ( U(Ⅵ) : humic acid) as pH increased from 3 to 6; and (iii) , while the complex stability constant decreased when temperature increased, but increased with pH value. We found that the precipitation of uranyl could only be observed in presence of HA, and the precipitation was influenced by conditions, such as pH, uranium concentration, temperature, and the HA concentration. The maximum precipitation proportion up to 60% could be achieved in the condition of 40 mg/L HA solution at pH 6. We further observed that the migration behavior of uranium in soil in the presence of humic acid (HA) or fulvic acid (FA) was different from that in the presence of inorganic colloid, and the effect of humic substances (HS) was limited.LIAO Jiali WEN Wei LI Bing YANG Yuanyou ZHANG Dong KANG Houjun YANG Yong JIN Jiannan LIU Ning 2013Nuclear Science and Techniques2013,24,3:3
Changes of visceral properties and digestive enzymes in the herbivorous marine teleost Siganus canaliculatus fed on different diets显示文摘The rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus is one of the few cultured herbivorous marine teleosts. To better understand the digestive physiology of this fish and provide data for designing formulated feed using macroalgae as an ingredient, the changes of visceral properties and digestive enzyme activities were investigated after the juveniles were fed on different types of food including raw fish(RF), formulated diet(FD) or macroalgae Enteromorpha prolifra(EP) and Gracilaria lemaneiformis(GL) for eight weeks. The results showed that the hepatosomatic and viscerosomatic indices in the RF and FD groups, as well as the relative intestine length(RIL) in the EP and GL groups, were significantly higher than those in other groups. Additionally, differences in the histological structure of the liver and anterior intestine were also observed among different dietary groups. The hepatic nuclei were displaced to the periphery by lipid inclusions in fish fed RF. The highest levels of mucosal folds were found in the anterior intestines of fish fed macroalgae. Digestive enzyme activity profiles showed obvious fluctuations in the first three weeks, and then leveled off in the following weeks. The levels of protease, lipase and α-amylase in the alimentary tract showed changes related to the levels of dietary protein, lipid and carbohydrate, respectively.Although macroalgae significantly inhibited the activity of protease in the stomach, it increased RIL and the number of mucosal folds in the anterior intestine so as to compensate for the influences on protease activities in the stomach. This study suggests that the digestive tract of rabbitfish can well adapt to different diets, and needs about three weeks to physiologically acclimatize to the nutritional status, thus implying that rabbitfish are somewhat omnivorous.XIE Dizhi XU Shude WU Qingyang CHEN Fang WANG Shuqi YOU Cuihong LI Yuanyou 2018Acta Oceanologica Sinica2018,37,2:3
Preference of the Herbivorous Marine Teleost Siganus canaliculatus for Different Macroalgae显示文摘The decomposition of a large amount of unexploited macroalgal resource along the coast of China often results in heavy environmental pollution. In order to pave a way of using macroalgae as the dietary ingredient of rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus, one of a few farmed herbivorous marine teleosts in China, its preference(feeding selectivity) for different macroalgae was determined in this study. Seven seaweed species abundantly inhabiting the coast of east Guangdong Province were exposed simultaneously to rabbitfish juveniles in laboratory(multiple-choice feeding) with their content and absolute intake assayed. It was found that the most preferred algae were Ulva prolifera, Gracilaria lemaneiformis and Chaetomorpha linum, less preferred algae were U. pertusa and Porphyra haitanensis, and least preferred ones were Sargassum fusiforme and Corallina sessilis. Such an order did not change when one to four relatively preferred seaweeds were removed. The preferred seaweeds were richer in protein and soluble sugar thus higher in energy than the least preferred. In addition, this fish was found to favor filamentous and flat algae rather than calcified ones. Accordingly, the richness of nutrients and morphological characteristics determined the preference of S. canaliculatus for tested macroalgae.YOU Cuihong ZENG Fangui WANG Shuqi LI Yuanyou 2014Journal of Ocean University of China2014,13,3:2
Effects of phenanthrene on hepatic enzymatic activities in tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus ♀×O.aureus ♂)显示文摘The effects of phenanthrene(Phe) on hepatosomatic index(HSI) and hepatic enzymatic activities in hybrid tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus ♀× O.aureus ♂) were investigated via the static freshwater exposure at dosage of 50,100,and 400 μg/L for 4-14 d.Compared with the control group,HSI was significantly decreased(P < 0.05) at 400 μg/L at day 14.Increased enzymatic activities(P < 0.05) were observed for catalase(CAT),glutathione peroxidase(GPx) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) at either 100 or 400 μg/L at day 8 and 14,as well as for CAT at 50 μg/L at day 14,except for GPx at 400 μg/L at day 8.Ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase(EROD) activity was significantly increased(P < 0.05) at all dosage at day 4 as well as at 50 μg/L at day 8,but significantly decreased at either 100 or 400 μg/L at day 14(P < 0.05).Glutathione-S-transferase(GST) activity was not affected. The results suggest that CAT,GPx,SOD and EROD,as well as HSI in tilapia may be used as the biomarkers or indexes for evaluating or monitoring the pollution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) such as Phe.XU Wenju LI Yuanyou WU Qingyang WANG Shuqi ZHENG Huaiping LIU Wenhua 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,6:1

Biodegradation ofEnteromorpha Polysaccharides by Intestinal Micro-Community from Siganus oramin显示文摘Micro-communities are supposed to have more potential functions of biodegradation of polysaccharides than single strain; however, the intestinal micro-communities involved in the biodegradation of Enteromorpha polysaccharides(EP) were seldom reported. In order to obtain the EP-degrading micro-community, the intestines of Siganus oramin was obtained to isolate the micro-communities, which were enriched by 0.3% of EP as the sole carbon source. A stable micro-community with EP degradative capability was achieved after seven generations of subculture, named H1. Results showed that H1 was able to degrade 75% of EP within 24 hours, and the activity of EP lyases reached 500 U m L^(-1) in 32 hours. With denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) and 16 S r RNA gene clone library analysis, ten bacteria closely related to Marinomonas pontica, Microbacterium sp., Leucobacter chironomi, Cyclobacterium sp., Algoriphagus winogradskyi, Pseudoalteromonas sp. and Vibrio sp. were determined. Furthermore, compared with the DGGE bands sequence and the clone library analysis, the dominant bacteria of the EP-biodegrading micro-community were Pseudoalteromonas sp. and Vibrio sp., with the respective proportion of 38% and 46%, and they should play an important role in EP degradation together with other degrading bacteria in the micro-community H1.ZHANG Zhibiao HAN Xuefeng XU Yan LI Jin LI Yuanyou HU Zhong 2016Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,6:1
Reinforcing a Dangerous Rock Mass Using the Flexible Network Method显示文摘Because the main failure type of a dangerous rock mass is collapse, the treatment of such a mass should focus on controlling collapse failure. When treating dangerous rock masses, disturbing the mass (e.g. by blasting) needs to be avoided, as this new damage could cause collapse. So the self-bearing capacity of the mountain mass must be used to treat the dangerous rock mass. This article is based on a practical example of the control of a dangerous rock mass at Banyan Mountain, Huangshi, Hubei Province. On the basis of an analysis of damage mechanism and the stability of the dangerous rock mass, a flexible network reinforcement method was designed to prevent the collapse of the rock mass. The deformations of section Ⅱ_w of the dangerous rock mass before and after the flexible network reinforcement were calculated using the two-dimensional finite element method. The results show that the maximum deformation reduced by 55 % after the application of the flexible network reinforcement, from 45.99 to 20.75 mm, which demonstrates that the flexible network method is effective, and can provide some scientific basis for the treatment of dangerous rock masses.Yang Wendong Xie Quanmin Xia Yuanyou Li Xinping 2005Journal of China University of Geosciences2005,16,4:0
The biochemical behavior and mechanism of uranium(Ⅵ)bioreduction induced by natural Bacillus thuringiensis显示文摘For a broader understanding of uranium migration affected by microorganisms in natural anaerobic environment, the bioreduction of uranium(Ⅵ)(U(Ⅵ))was revealed in Bacillus thuringiensis,a dominant bacterium strain with potential of uranium-tolerant isolated from uranium contaminated soil. The reduction behavior was systematically investigated by the quantitative analysis of U(Ⅳ)in bacteria, and mechanism was inferred from the pathway of electron transmission.Under anaerobic conditions, appropriate biomass and sodium lactate as electron donor, reduction behavior of U(Ⅵ)induced by B.thuringiensis was restricted by the activity of lactate dehydrogenase, which was directly affected by the initial pH,temperature and initial U(Ⅵ)concentration of bioreduction system.Bioreduction of U(Ⅵ)was driven by the generation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)from enzymatic reaction of sodium lactate with various dehydrogenase. The transmission of the electrons from bacteria to U(Ⅵ)was mainly supported by the intracellular NADH dehydrogenase-ubiquinone system, this process could maintain the biological activity of cells.Shunzhang Chen Junyuan Gong Yanxia Cheng Yuqi Guo Feize Li Tu Lan Yuanyou Yang Jijun Yang Ning Liu Jiali Liao 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2:0
A comparative study on the tolerance of tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)to high carbohydrate and high lipid diets显示文摘A 12-wk trial was conducted to compare the tolerance of tilapia to high carbohydrate and high lipid diets.Three isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets, whose carbohydrate and lipid levels were the following:35.0%and 8%(control),44.2%and 4%(D1,high carbohydrate),and 25.8%and 12%(D2,high lipid),respectively.Three hundred tilapias(27±0.11 g)were fed the diets for 10 wk(4 replicates per group);72 fish from the D1 group were continually fed the D1(D1D1)and 72 fish from the D2 were continually fed the D2(D2D2)diet for 2 wk(3 replicates each group)to evaluate the tilapia's capacity to tolerate high carbohydrate and high lipid diets, respectively.Another 36 fish from D1 group were continually fed D2(D1D2)for comparison with D1D1 and D2D2 groups. In phase 1,hepatosomatic index, liver triglycerides(TG),glucose tolerance(GT)and crude protein in the whole body in D1 group were higher than those in D2 group(P<0.05).During phase 2,D1D1 group had lower feed intake and weight gain,as well as lower serum total protein and albumin than that of D2D2 group(P<0.05),while its liver glycogen was significantly higher than that in D1D2 and D2D2 groups(P<0.05).Moreover,serum glucose and GT were higher in D1D1 and D1D2 groups than those in D2D2 group(P<0.05).By contrast,D2D2 group had significantly higher intraperitoneal fat, subcutaneous adipose tissue(SCAT)and liver TG than those in D1D1 group(P<0.05).The mRNA expression of brain npy, hepatic nrf2,gst1 and hepatic transcriptomic data showed that immune-related genes(gama,mrc2,mhc2 and cd163),were downregulated in D1D1 group compared to D2D2 and D1D2 groups.Taken together:1)tilapia have higher tolerance to a high lipid diet than high carbohydrate diet;2)despite retention of glucose tolerance, the continuous feeding of D1 diet impaired tilapia's appetite, weight gain rate and host immune response;3)specific distri-bution of fat in intraperitoneal regions,SCAT and liver may be a risk-avoidance strategy in tilapia in response to a continuous D2 diet.Lijun Ning Haotian Zhang Xiaoying Chen Jia Zhen Sen Chen Junfeng Guang Chao Xu Yuanyou Li 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,2:0

Unusual uranium biomineralization induced by green algae: Behavior investigation and mechanism probe显示文摘As a biosorbent, algae are frequently used for the biotreatment or bioremediation of water contaminated by heavymetal or radionuclides. However,it is unclear that whether or not the biomineralization of these metal or radionuclides can be induced by algae in the process of bioremediation and what the mechanism is.In this work,Ankistrodsemus sp.has been used to treat the uranium-contaminated water, and more than 98%of uranium in the solution can be removed by the alga, when the initial uranium concentration ranges from 10 to 80 mg/L.Especially,an unusual phenomenon of algae-induced uranium biomineralization has been found in the process of uranium bioremediation and its mineralization mechanism has been explored bymultiple approaches. It is worth noticing that the biomineralization of uranium induced by Ankistrodsemus sp.is significantly affected by contact time and pH.Uranium is captured rapidly on the cell surface via complexation with the carboxylate radical, amino and amide groups of themicroalgae cells, which provides nucleation sites for the precipitation of insolubleminerals.Uranium stimulates Ankistrodsemus sp.to metabolize potassium ions(K+),which may endow algae with the ability to biomineralize uranium into the rose-like compreignacite(K_(2)[(UO_(2))6O_(4)(OH)_(6)]•8H_(2)O).As the time increased, the amorphous gradually converted into compreignacite crystals and a large number of crystals would expand over both inside and outside the cells. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first investigated microalgae with a time-dependent uranium biomineralization ability and superior tolerance to uranium. This work validates that Ankistrodsemus sp.is a promising alga for the treatment of uranium-contaminated wastewater.Yanxia Cheng Ting Zhang Shunzhang Chen Feize Li Renwei Qing Tu Lan Yuanyou Yang Jiali Liao Ning Liu 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2:0
