| 3 | Settling behavior of non-spherical particles in power-law fluids:Experimental study and model development显示文摘Solid-particle settling occurs in many natural and industrial processes, such as in the transportation of drilling cuttings and fracturing proppant. Knowledge of the drag coefficient and settling velocity of cuttings and proppant is of significance to hydraulics design, wellbore cleanout, and fracture optimization. We conducted 553 tests to investigate the settling characteristics of spherical and non-spherical particles in power-law fluids. Three major particle shapes (spherical, cubic, and cylindrical) and eight different particle sphericities were used to simulate cuttings and proppant, and power-law fluids were applied to simulate drilling and fracturing fluids. Based on the data analysis, a new drag coefficient-particle Reynolds number correlation was developed to determine the drag coefficient in a power-law fluid for spherical and non-spherical particles. The drag coefficient increases as the sphericity decreases for the same particle Reynolds number. For a specific particle shape, the drag coefficient decreases as the particle Reynolds number increases, but the decreasing trend is reduced at high particle Reynolds number conditions. An explicit settling-velocity equation was proposed to calculate the settling velocity of spherical and non-spherical particles in power-law fluids by considering the effect of sphericity. A suitable range for the proposed model is 0.0001 < Re <200, 0.471 <φ< 1, and 0.505 < n < 1. | 4 | Novel trichromatic phosphor Co-doped with Eu, Tb in SiO_2 gel matrix显示文摘The Eu, Tb co-doped SiO2 matrix tricolor fluorescence system was prepared by sol-gel technique. Red emission at 618 nm, green emission at 543 nm and blue emission at 350―500 nm were observed in the PL spectra of the sample, indicating that Eu3+, Eu2+ and Tb3+ ions coexisted in the matrix. In the co-doped sample, the blue emission of Eu2+ was much stronger than that of the sample single doped with Eu, which implied that the electron transfer between Eu3+ and Tb3+ maybe happened in the SiO2 matrix. The influences of the annealing temperature and Tb concentration on the PL spectra of the samples were investigated. The optimal doped concentration of Tb was determined to be 0.2% and the optimal annealing temperature 850℃. | 5 | New method for determining central axial orientation of flux rope embedded within current sheet using multipoint measurements显示文摘A new method for determining the central axial orientation of a two-dimensional coherent magnetic flux rope(MFR)via multipoint analysis of the magnetic-field structure is developed. The method is devised under the following geometrical assumptions:(1) on its cross section, the structure is left-right symmetric;(2) the projected structure velocity is vertical to the line of symmetry. The two conditions can be naturally satisfied for cylindrical MFRs and are expected to be satisfied for MFRs that are flattened within current sheets. The model test demonstrates that, for determining the axial orientation of such structures, the new method is more efficient and reliable than traditional techniques such as minimum-variance analysis of the magnetic field,Grad-Shafranov(GS) reconstruction, and the more recent method based on the cylindrically symmetric assumption. A total of five flux transfer events observed by Cluster are studied using the proposed approach, and the application results indicate that the observed structures, regardless of their actual physical properties, fit the assumed geometrical model well. | 6 | Online single particle measurement of fireworks pollution during Chinese New Year in Nanning显示文摘Time-resolved single-particle measurements were conducted during Chinese New Year in Nanning, China. Firework displays resulted in a burst of SO_2, coarse mode, and accumulation mode(100–500 nm) particles. Through single particle mass spectrometry analysis, five different types of particles(fireworks-metal, ash, dust, organic carbon-sulfate(OC-sulfate), biomass burning) with different size distributions were identified as primary emissions from firework displays. The fireworks-related particles accounted for more than70% of the total analyzed particles during severe firework detonations. The formation of secondary particulate sulfate and nitrate during firework events was investigated on single particle level. An increase of sulfite peak(80SO_3^-) followed by an increase of sulfate peaks(97HSO_4^-+ 96SO_4^-) in the mass spectra during firework displays indicated the aqueous uptake and oxidation of SO_2 on particles. High concentration of gaseous SO_2, high relative humidity and high particle loading likely promoted SO_2 oxidation. Secondary nitrate formed through gas-phase oxidation of NO_2 to nitric acid, followed by the condensation into particles as ammonium nitrate. | 8 | Rock magnetic properties and palaeomagnetic results of sediments from a stone implement layer in the Bose Basin, Guangxi显示文摘Directional samples were taken to study rock magnetism and palaeomagnetic records from the Dong- sheng profile, which is 5 m thick and on the northwest edge of the Bose Basin. Mineralogy and rock magnetism of typical samples indicate that coarse granular titanomagnetite, and fine-grained hematite, superparamagnetic maghemite formed by pedogenesis are in the sediment, which has undergone many transformative processes during different stages of pedogenesis. Parallel samples were taken for thermal demagnetization (TH) (0 to 680℃) and alternating field (AF) demagnetization (0 to 80 mT) respectively. Experimental results of these two kinds of demagnetization illustrate that there are two or more magnetic components in the samples. Intensity of NRM decreases by almost 60% to 90% rapidly when the temperature ranges from 100℃ to 350℃, with a steady magnetic component. It is impossible to analyze the magnetic components at high temperature because those fluctuate widely when the temperature is higher than 400℃. Steady magnetic components from 100℃ to 350℃ indicate that the remanence was mainly carried by fine-grained hematite formed by pedogenesis, reflecting a change in the geomagnetic field while the magnetite was being oxidized into hematite by chemical weathering after deposition. As to reason over the problems with multiple agents which are distributed but interconnected, a formal account of the Action-centric Multiagent Simple Temporal Problem(AMSTP) is put forward using the representation of geometries. The key technique we build on is a novel distributed arc-consistency algorithm centered by the geometric method called GDAC, which pays attention to how an agent's local subproblem affects other agents' subproblems. The GDAC is based on geometries taking the action rather than the timepoint as a variable, which can deal with continuous intervals and decrease the number of variables. | 11 | Ferroptosis promotes T-cell activation-induced neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis显示文摘While many drugs are effective at reducing the relapse frequency of multiple sclerosis (MS), there is an unmet need for treatments that slow neurodegeneration resulting from secondary disease progression. The mechanism of neurodegeneration in MS has not yet been established. Here, we discovered a potential pathogenetic role of ferroptosis, an iron-dependent regulated cell death mechanism, in MS. We found that critical ferroptosis proteins (acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4, ACSL4) were altered in an existing genomic database of MS patients, and biochemical features of ferroptosis, including lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and mitochondrial shrinkage, were observed in the experimental autoimmune encephalitis (EAE) mouse model. Targeting ferroptosis with ferroptosis inhibitors or reducing ACSL4 expression improved the behavioral phenotypes of EAE mice, reduced neuroinflammation, and prevented neuronal death. We found that ferroptosis was an early event in EAE, which may promote T-cell activation through T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling in vitro and in vivo. | 13 | Influence of fading on characteristics of thermal analysis curve of compacted graphite iron显示文摘In general, during the production of compacted graphite iron (CGI), the active residual magnesium reduces and the effect of inoculation fades after magnesium treatment. In this paper, characteristics of the thermal analysis curve of CGI are compared with those of ductile iron and grey cast iron. The fading effect on the compacted graphite percentage and thermal analysis curve were also studied. Results indicate that the undercooling of CGI is as low as that of ductile iron, but CGI shows evident recalescence. In fading process, the magnesium element acts with oxygen. For a decrease in magnesium content, both the compacted graphite percentage and the austenitic liquidus temperature increase. The temperature of eutectic undercooling (TEU) decreases before the flake graphite appears. After that, TEU increases quickly, up to as high as 20℃, and then gradually decreases. | 14 | Social insights on the implementation of One Health in zoonosis prevention and control: a scoping review显示文摘Background:The One Health (OH) concept has been promoted widely around the globe. OH framework is expected to be applied as an integrated approach to support addressing zoonotic diseases as a significant global health issue and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of zoonosis prevention and control. This review is intended to overview the social impact of the implementation of OH on zoonosis prevention and control.Methods:A scoping review of studies in the past 10 years was performed to overview the integration feature of OH in zoonosis prevention and control and the social impacts of OH. PubMed and Web of Science were searched for studies published in English between January 2011 and June 2021. The included studies were selected based on predefined criteria.Results:Thirty-two studies were included in this review, and most of them adopted qualitative and semi-qualitative methods. More than 50% of the studies focused on zoonosis prevention and control. Most studies were conducted in low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia. Applying OH approach in diseases control integrates policymakers, stakeholders, and academics from various backgrounds. The impact of OH on economic is estimated that it may alleviate the burden of diseases and poverty in the long term, even though more financial support might be needed at the initial stage of OH implementation. OH implementation considers social and ecological factors related to zoonosis transmission and provides comprehensive strategies to assess and address related risks in different communities according to regions and customs.Conclusions:Based on reviewed literature, although there seems to be a lack of guidelines for assessing and visualizing the outcomes of OH implementation, which may limit the large-scale adoption of it, evidence on the contributions of implementing OH concepts on zoonosis prevention and control indicates long-term benefits to society, including a better integration of politics, stakeholders and academics to improve their cooperation, a potential to address economic issues caused by zoonosis, and a comprehensive consideration on social determinants of health during zoonosis prevention and control. | Junyi He Zhaoyu Guo Pin Yang Chunli Cao Jing Xu Xiaonong Zhou Shizhu Li | 2022 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,3: | 1 |

| 18 | Highly time-resolved aerosol characteristics during springtime in Weizhou Island显示文摘A single particle aerosol mass spectrometer was deployed to measure the changes of single particle species and sizes during March 2015 in Weizhou Island of the Beibu Gulf, Guangxi province, South China. In this campaign, a total of 3,100,597 particles were sized, and 25.8%particles with both positive and negative mass spectrum were collected and 24.8%characterized in combination with the ART-2 a neural network algorithm. The distribution of sized particles was mainly in from 520 to 600 nm, and the diameters ranging from 340 to1000 nm accounted for above 90%. Eight types of particles were classified: Elemental Carbon containing(EC), Organic Carbon containing(OC), EC and OC combined containing particles,Na containing particles, K containing particles(K), Levoglucosan containing particles,mineral containing particles, and Heavy Metal containing particles(HM). EC, OC and K were the major containing particles, which accounted for 84.3% in the eight types particles. The relative ratio and size distribution of the three types were EC(48.1%, 620 nm), OC(12.7%,440 nm), and K(23.5%, 600 nm), respectively.
