1Responses of soil respiration to simulated precipitation pulses in semiarid steppe under different grazing regimes显示文摘Aims Precipitation pulses and different land use practices(such as grazing)play important roles in regulating soil respiration and carbon balance of semiarid steppe ecosystems in Inner Mongolia.However,the interactive effects of grazing and rain event magnitude on soil respiration of steppe ecosystems are still unknown.We conducted a manipulative experiment with simulated precipitation pulses in Inner Mongolia steppe to study the possible responses of soil respiration to different precipitation pulse sizes and to examine how grazing may affect the responses of soil respiration to precipitation pulses.Methods Six water treatments with different precipitation pulse sizes(0,5,10,25,50 and 100 mm)were conducted in the ungrazed and grazed sites,respectively.Variation patterns of soil respiration of each treatment were determined continuously after the water addition treatments.Important Findings Rapid and substantial increases in soil respiration occurred 1 day after the water treatments in both sites,and the magnitude and duration of the increase in soil respiration depended on pulse size.Significantly positive relationships between the soil respiration and soil moisture in both sites suggested that soil moisture was the most important factor responsible for soil respiration rate during rain pulse events.The ungrazed site maintained significantly higher soil moisture for a longer time,which was the reason that the soil respiration in the ungrazed site was maintained relatively higher rate and longer period than that in the grazed site after a rain event.The significant exponential relationship between soil temperature and soil respiration was found only in the plots with the high water addition treatments(50 and 100 mm).Lower capacity of soil water holding and lower temperature sensitivity of soil respiration in the grazed site indicated that degraded steppe due to grazing might release less CO_(2) to the atmosphere through soil respiration under future precipitation and temperature scenarios.Shiping Chen Guanghui Lin Jianhui Huang Mao He 2008Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,4:24
2Infection of Schistosomiasis japanicum is likely to enhance proliferation and migration of human breast cancer cells:mechanism of action of differential expression of MMP2 and MMP9显示文摘Objective:To study whether the infection of Schistosomiasis japanicum(S.japanicum) is related to enhanced proliferation and migration of cancer cells,and the molecular mechanism pertains to cancer cell metastasis in human host.Methods:The gene of S.japanicum glutathione transferase(sjGST) cloned from 5.japanicum was expressed,purified and applied in a series of assays to explore the effect of sjGST on proliferation and migration of MDA-MB-435S,and the expression of MMP2 and MMP9.Immunofluorescence assay for the binding of sjGST to MDA-MB-435S was also carried out.Results:Results showed that sjGST enhanced proliferation and migration in human breast cancer cell MDA-MB-435S signifycantly at 50-200 nM,but did not enhance them in human lung cancer cell A549.Immunofluorescence assay for the binding of sjGST to MDA-MB-435S and A549 showed that GST was readily hound to the breast cancer cells,but showed almost no binding to human lung cancer cells.The assays for gelatinase activity showed that both MMP2 and MMP9 activities were increased significantly in the presence of sjGST(50-200 nM) in MDA-MB-435S, but they were not significant in A549.Conclusions:Our current results show strongly that S. japanicum GST binds to MDA-MB-435S probably via its i'eceptor,and enhances proliferation and migration of the cancer cells by up-regulatory expression of MMP2 and MMP9.Ya-Ling Lin Rakesh Ramanujum Shiping He 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,1:9
3A novel true triaxial test system for microwave-induced fracturing of hard rocks显示文摘This study introduces a test system for microwave-induced fracturing of hard rocks under true triaxial stress.The test system comprises a true triaxial stress loading system,an open-ended microwaveinduced fracturing system,a data acquisition system,an acoustic emission(AE)monitoring system,and an auxiliary specimen loading system.Microwave-induced surface and borehole fracturing tests under true triaxial stress were fulfilled for the first time,which overcomes the problem of microwave leakage in the coupling loading of true triaxial stress and microwave.By developing the dynamic monitoring system,the thermal response and fracture evolution were obtained during microwave irradiation.The monitoring system includes the infrared thermometry technique for monitoring rock surface temperature,the distributed optic fiber sensing technique for monitoring temperature in borehole in rock,the AE technique and two-dimensional digital speckle correlation technique for monitoring the evolution of thermal damage and the rock fracturing process.To validate the advantages of the test system and investigate the characteristics of microwave-induced fracturing of hard rocks,the study demonstrates the experimental methods and results for microwave-induced surface and borehole fracturing under true triaxial stress.The results show that thermal cracking presented intermittent characteristics(calm eactiveecalm)during microwave-induced surface and borehole fracturing of basalt.In addition,true triaxial stress can inhibit the development and distribution of thermal cracks during microwave-induced surface fracturing.When microwave-induced borehole fracturing occurs,it promotes the distribution of thermal cracks in rock,but inhibits the width of cracks.The results also prove the reliability of the test system.Xia-Ting Feng Jiuyu Zhang Chengxiang Yang Jun Tian Feng Lin Shiping Li Xiangxin Su 2021Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,5:5
4Dietary calcium requirements of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 days of age显示文摘Background:The current calcium(Ca)recommendation for broilers is primarily based on studies conducted more than 30 years ago with birds of markedly different productive potentials from those which exist today.And the response indicators in these studies are mainly growth performance and bone ash percentage.Therefore,the present study was carried out to investigate the effect of dietary Ca level on growth performance,serum parameters,bone characteristics and Ca metabolism-related gene expressions,so as to estimate dietary Ca requirements of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 days of age.Methods:A total of 4201-day-old Arbor Acres male broilers were randomly assigned to 1 of 7 treatments with 6 replicates(10 birds per cage)and fed the corn-soybean meal diets containing 0.60%,0.70%,0.80%,0.90%,1.00%,1.10%or 1.20%Ca for 21 days.Each diet contained the constant non-phytate phosphorus content of about 0.39%.Results:The average daily gain decreased linearly(P<0.001)as dietary Ca level increased.The serum and tibia alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activities,tibia bone mineral density(BMD),middle toe BMD,tibia ash percentage,tibia breaking strength,and tibia ALP protein expression level were affected(P<0.05)by dietary Ca level,and showed significant quadratic responses(P<0.02)to dietary Ca levels.The estimates of dietary Ca requirements were 0.80 to 1.00%based on the best fitted broken-line or quadratic models(P<0.03)of the above serum and bone parameters,respectively.Conclusions:The results from the present study indicate that the Ca requirements would be about 0.60%to obtain the best growth rate,and 1.00%to meet all of the Ca metabolisms and bone development of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 days of age.Shiping Bai Yunfeng Yang Xuelian Ma Xiudong Liao Runlian Wang Liyang Zhang Sufen Li Xugang Luo Lin Lu 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,4:2

11PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and vaScular Events (PRECISE)-a population-based prospective cohort study: rationale, design and baseline participant characteristics显示文摘Background and purpose Cardiovascular diseases and dementia are two major diseases in the elderly.Atherosclerosis is associated with future vascular events and cognitive impairment.The PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and vaScular Events(PRECISE)study is a population-based prospective cohort study with comprehensive evaluation of multiterritorial artery stenosis and plaque using advanced vascular imaging techniques and prospective collection of vascular events and cognitive assessments.Methods Between May 2017 and September 2019,the PRECISE study enrolled 3067 community-dwelling adults with ages between 50 and 75 years cluster sampled from six villages and four communities of Lishui city in China.Data are collected in face-to face interviews at baseline,2-year and 4-year follow-up visits.Brain MRI including high-resolution sequences for intracranial and carotidal arteries and CT angiography for thoracoabdominal arteries were performed at baseline and will be rescanned after 4 years.Cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events and cognitive assessment will be prospectively collected after the enrollment.Blood and urine samples were collected and biomarkers were tested at baseline.Results A total of 3067 subjects were enrolled,among which 53.5%were female with an average age of 61.2±6.7 years.Among them,2.8%,8.1%,43.1%and 21.6%had a history of stroke,coronary heart diseases,hypertension and diabetes mellitus,respectively.Conclusions The PRECISE study is a population-based prospective cohort study with comprehensive evaluation of atherosclerotic stenosis and plaque using advanced vascular imaging techniques.Data from this cohort provide us an opportunity to precisely evaluate polyvascular atherosclerosis and its association with future vascular events and cognitive impairment.Yuesong Pan Jing Jing Xueli Cai Yilong Wang Suying Wang Xia Meng Chunlai Zeng Jiong Shi Jiansong Ji Jinxi Lin Lingchun Lyu Zhe Zhang Lerong Mei Shiping Li Shan Li Wanlin Zhu Hao Li Tiemin Wei Yongjun Wang 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1:1

14Biophysical regulations of NEE light response in a steppe and a cropland in Inner Mongolia显示文摘Aims Ecosystem carbon models often require accurate net ecosystem exchange of CO_(2)(NEE)light-response parameters,which can be derived from the Michaelis–Menten equation.These parameters include maximum net ecosystem exchange(NEE_(max)),apparent quantum use efficiency(a)and daytime ecosystem respiration rate(R_(e)).However,little is known about the effects of land conversion between steppe and cropland on these parameters,especially in semi-arid regions.To understand how these parameters vary in responses to biotic and abiotic factors under land conversions,seasonal variation of light-response parameters were evaluated for a steppe and a cropland of Inner Mongolia,China,during three consecutive years(2006–08)with different precipitation amounts.Methods NEE was measured over a steppe and a cropland in Duolun,Inner Mongolia,China,using the eddy covariance technique,and NEE light-response parameters(NEE_(max),α and R_(e))were derived using the Michaelis–Menten model.Biophysical regulations of these parameters were evaluated using a stepwise regression analysis.Important Findings The maximum absolute values of NEE_(max) occurred in the meteorological regimes of 15℃Ping Zhang Shiping Chen Wenli Zhang Haixia Miao Jiquan Chen Xingguo Han Guanghui Lin 2012Journal of Plant Ecology2012,5,2:1

16An Overview of Organs-on-Chips Based on Deep Learning显示文摘Microfluidic-based organs-on-chips(OoCs)are a rapidly developing technology in biomedical and chemical research and have emerged as one of the most advanced and promising in vitro models.The miniaturization,stimulated tissue mechanical forces.and microenvironment of OoCs offer unique properties for biomedical applications.However,the large amount of data generated by the high parallelization of OoC systems has grown far beyond the scope of manual analysis by researchers with biomedical backgrounds.Deep learning,an emerging area of research in the field of machine learning,can automatically mine the inherent characteristics and laws of'big data'and has achieved remarkable applications in computer vision,speech recognition,and natural language processing.The integration of deep learning in OoCs is an emerging field that holds enormous potential for drug development,disease modeling,and personalized medicine.This review bricfly describes the basic concepts and mechanisms of microfluidics and deep learning and summarizes their successful integration.We then analyze thecombination of OoCs and deep learning for image digitization,data analysis,and automation.Finally,the problems faced in current applications are discussed,and future perspectives and suggestions are provided to further strengthen this integration.Jintao Li Jie Chen Hua Bai Haiwei Wang Shiping Hao Yang Ding Bo Peng Jing Zhang Lin Li Wei Huang 2022Research2022,,2:1
17Effect of rain enrichment on soil respiration of Nitraria sphaerocarpa community in a hyperarid area显示文摘In order to analyze the effect of rain enrichment on soil respiration rate of a Nitraria sphaerocarpa community,we measured soil respiration rate in bare and vegetated areas in a hyperarid area(Dunhuang)during the growing season.Results show that rain enrichment can increase bare and vegetated soil respiration rates.The more rainfall enrichment,the greater the increment and the longer duration time effect for soil respiration rate.200%(16 mm)and 300%(24 mm)of rain enrichment can significantly increase bare soil respiration rates by 90%and 106%(P<0.01),respectively.By contrast,areas with 100%(8 mm),200%(16 mm)and 300%(24 mm)of rain enrichment can significantly increase shrub area respiration rates by 68%,157%and 205%(P<0.01),respectively.The response time of bare and vegetated soil respiration to rainfall enrichment is asynchronous.Response variable of soil respiration in vegetated soil is higher(118%)than in bare soil.There was significant positive correlation between soil respiration rate and soil water content during the growing season(P<0.01).For every 1 mm increment of precipitation,soil respiration rate increased by 0.01 and 0.04μmol/(m2·s),respectively in vegetated and bare soils.DianJun Liu Bo Wu YongHua Li GuangHui Lin ShiPing Chen YaJuan Zhu Qi Lu Bin Yao 2013Research in Cold and Arid Regions2013,5,6:1
