2Evidence of crustal ‘channel flow’ in the eastern margin of Tibetan Plateau from MT measurements显示文摘Magnetotelluric (MT) survey has been carried out in the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau and its neighboring Shimian-Leshan area, Sichuan Province. Analysis of this MT data reveals that the electric structure of the Tibetan Plateau differ much from that of the Sichuan block. In general, the electric re-sistivity of crust beneath the Sichuan block in the east is larger than that of the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau in the west. The crust of the plateau is divided into upper, middle, and lower layers. The middle crust is a low resistivity layer with minimum down to 3―10 Ωm about 10―15 km thick. It pre-sumably contains partial melt and/or salt-bearing fluids with low viscosity, prone to deform and flow, producing a 'channel flow' under the southeastward squeeze of the eastern Tibetan Plateau. This low-resistivity layer makes the upper crust decoupled mechanically from the lower crust. In the brittle upper crust, faults are dominated by left-lateral strike-slip and thrust motions, leading to surface rising and shallow earthquakes. The low-resistivity layer also cut the Xianshuihe-Anninghe fault zone into two sections vertically. 3Deep structure beneath the southwestern section of the Longmenshan fault zone and seimogenetic context of the 4.20 Lushan M_S7.0 earthquake显示文摘Magnetotelluric measurements were carried out along two profiles across the middle and southwestern sections of the Longmenshan fault zone(LMSf)from 2009 to 2011,after the 2008 Wenchuan MW7.9 earthquake.The former profile crosses the Wenchuan event epicenter and the latter one crosses 2013 Lushan MS7.0 event epicenter.The data were analyzed using advanced processing techniques,including phase tensor and two-dimensional inversion methods,in order to obtain reliable 2-D profiles of the electrical structure in the vicinity of the two earthquakes.A comparison of the two profiles indicates both similarities and differences in the deep crustal structure of the LMSf.West of the southwestern section,a crustal high conductivity layer(HCL)is present at about 10 km depth below the Songpan-Garzêblock;this is about 10 km shallower than that under the middle section of the LMSf.A high resistivity body(HRB)is observed beneath the southwestern section,extending from the near surface to the top of upper mantle.It has a smaller size than the HRB observed below the middle section.In the middle section,there is a local area of decreased resistivity within the HRB but there is absence of this area.The 2013 Lushan earthquake occurred close to the eastern boundary of HRB and the Shuangshi-Dachuan fault,of which the seismogenic context has both common and different features in comparison with the 2008 Wenchuan event.On a large scale,the 2013 Lushan earthquake is associated with the HCL and deformation in the crust including HCL of the eastern Tibetan Plateau.In order to assess seismic risk,it is important to consider both the stress state and the detailed crustal structure in different parts of the LMSf.ZHAN Yan ZHAO GuoZe UNSWORTH Martyn WANG LiFeng CHEN XiaoBin LI Tao XIAO QiBin WANG JiJun TANG Ji CAI JunTao WANG YanZhao 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28:39
4Electromagnetic anomaly before earthquakes measured by electromagnetic experiments显示文摘Three experiments are carried out for earthquake monitoring using electromagnetic (EM) methods in recent years. Some earthquakes occurred in chance of the measurement time period for each experiment and the anomalies were recorded before the shocks. The observation at a site 20 km away from the epicenter of Zhangbei MS6.2 earthquake in 1998 shows that the apparent resistivity decreases in the strike direction before and/or during the earthquake and the resistivity increases in the de-cline direction. This anomalous variation in apparent resistivity accounts for about 20%. The apparent resistivities at a site in the epicentral area decrease in the strike and decline directions before and/or during the earthquake and increase after shocks. The experiments using artificial electromagnetic signals with super low frequency carried out in 1999 show that the resolution and stability of electric and magnetic spectra are improved. The spectra of electric and magnetic fields and apparent resistivity at the Baodi station began to anomalously change two days before the Qian'an earthquake with 120 km distant to the station. The anomalous variation of electric and magnetic spectra is about twice as great as normal variation and the apparent resistivity changes by about 20%. The measurements in active seismic area of Yunnan province in the year 2005 indicate that the electric and magnetic spectra anomalously change by one order before the Taoyuan earthquake about 100 km away from the observa-tories. 5Root and shoot traits responses to phosphorus deficiency and QTL analysis at seedling stage using introgression lines of rice显示文摘Phosphorous(P) deficiency is a major restraint factor for crop production and plants have developed several mechanisms to adapt to low P stress.In this study,a set of 271 introgression lines(ILs) were used to characterize the responses of seedlings to low P availability and to identify QTLs for root traits,biomass,and plant height under P-deficiency and P-sufficiency conditions.Plant height,total dry weight,shoot dry weight,and root number were inhibited under P-deficiency,whereas maximum root length(MRL) and root-shoot ratio(RS) were induced by P-deficiency stress.Relative MRL(RMRL,the ratio of MRL under P-deficiency to MRL under P-sufficiency con-dition) and relative RS(RRS) were used to evaluate P-deficiency tolerance at the seedling stage.A total of 24 additive QTLs and 29 pairs of epistatic QTLs were detected,but only qRN4 was detected in both conditions.This suggested that different mechanisms may exist in both P supply levels.QTLs for adaptive traits(RMRL,RRS,RRV,and RRDW) and qRN4 consistently expressed to increase trait stabil-ity may contribute to P-deficiency tolerance.Twelve intervals were cluster regions of QTLs for P-deficiency tolerance,and one QTL(qRRS8) showed pleiotropic effects on P-deficiency tolerance and drought tolerance.These interesting QTLs can be used in marker-assisted breeding through the target ILs.Junzhou Li Yan Xie Anyong Dai Lifeng Liu Zichao Li 2009Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,3:12
6Grey matter volume abnormalities in patients with bipolar I depressive disorder and unipolar depressive disorder:a voxelbased morphometry study显示文摘Bipolar disorder and unipolar depressive disorder(UD) may be different in brain structure. In the present study,we performed voxel-based morphometry(VBM) to quantify the grey matter volumes in 23 patients with bipolar I depressive disorder(BP1) and 23 patients with UD,and 23 age-,gender-,and educationmatched healthy controls(HCs) using magnetic resonance imaging. We found that compared with the HC and UD groups,the BP1 group showed reduced grey matter volumes in the right inferior frontal gyrus and middle cingulate gyrus,while the UD group showed reduced volume in the right inferior frontal gyrus compared to HCs. In addition,correlation analyses revealed that the grey matter volumes of these regions were negatively correlated with the Hamilton depression rating scores. 7Geochemistry and Sr-Nd isotope characteristics of tonalites in Zêtang,Tibet:New evidence for intra-Tethyan subduction显示文摘Tonalites from the island arc rock assemblage in the Zêtang segment of the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone were analyzed for major,trace elements (including REE) and Sr-Nd isotope. The experimental data demonstrate that the tonalites have the adakite-like characteristics,including high SiO2 (58%―63%),Al2O3 (18.4%―22.4%),Sr (810×10 6―940×10 6),Sr/Y (77―106),low HREE (Y=9×10 6―11×10 6,Yb= 1×10 6―1.3×10 6),with LREE enrichment and faint Eu positive anomaly. ISr (0.70421―0.70487) is rela-tively low whereas 143Nd/144Nd (0.512896―0.512929) and εNd(t) values (+6.7―+7.3) are high. These fea-tures suggest that Zêtang tonalites were formed by the partial melting of subducted oceanic crust,with involvement of a small amount of oceanic sediments. 8Advances in alternating electromagnetic field data processing for earthquake monitoring in China显示文摘The alternating electromagnetic(EM) field is one of the most sensitive physical fields related to earthquakes. There have been a number of publications reporting EM anomalies associated with earthquakes. With increasing applications and research of artificial-source extremely low frequency EM and satellite EM technologies in earthquake studies, the amount of observed data from the alternating EM method increases rapidly and exponentially, so it is imperative to develop suitable and effective methods for processing and analyzing the influx of big data. This paper presents research on the self-adaptive filter and wavelet techniques and their applications to analyzing EM data obtained from ground measurements and satellite observations, respectively. Analysis results show that the self-adaptive filter method can identify both natural- and artificial-source EM signals, and enhance the ratio between signal and noise of EM field spectra, apparent resistivity, and others. The wavelet analysis is capable of detecting possible correlation between EM anomalies and seismic events. 9Deep electrical structure of the Sulu orogen and neighboring areas显示文摘Because of the discovery of ultrahigh pressure metamorphic (UHPM) belt beneath the Sulu (Jiangsu Province-Shandong Province) orogen, this area has become a focused subject of current geoscience, as it has a close relationship with the evolution of the orogen and the neighboring North China craton. Probing the deep structure beneath this area would be of great significance for the geological inter- pretation of this issue. In this study, we make an analysis of magnetotelluric (MT) data along a profile across the Sulu orogen to provide evidence of deep structure below this region. The profile begins in west from the North China block, extending in S129oE, across the Tan-Lu fault, Sulu UHPM zone, and Sulu high pressure metamorphic (HPM) zone, and terminates in the Yangtze block in east. We use the nonlinear conjugate gradient method and TE-TM combined mode to perform inversion and interpreta- tion of the MT data, and obtain an electrical structure image above depth of 150 km along the profile. It shows that the structure can be divided into seven sections in lateral direction, between which the electric boundaries coincide well with the major faults, such as the Tan-Lu, Haizhou-Siyang, and Ji- ashan-Xiangshui faults. In vertical direction the electrical structure can be subdivided into six layers of different resistivities. It is noted that there exist high-conductivity areas in crust below the North China block and Yangtze block, while such a feature is not present beneath the Sulu orogen, which is very different from the Dabie orogen. It is also observed that a fairly continuous zone of relatively low-resistivity exists at depths of 50-90 km of the electrical structure image, which is presumably a weak zone in the uppermost mantle. Just below this low-resistivity zone are the relatively high- resis- tivity layer of the North China block, relatively low-resistivity layer of the Sulu orogen, and relatively high-resistivity layer of the Yangtze block, all in the shallow upper mantle, respectively. 10High mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) as an immune-modulating factor for polarization of human T lymphocytes显示文摘Objective This study was performed to investigate the effect of high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) on immune function of human T lymphocytes in vitro and explore its potential role in cell-mediated immune dysfunction. Methods Fresh blood was obtained from healthy adult volunteers and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated, then rhHMGB1 was added to PBMCs. Four-color flow cytometric (FCM) analysis was used for the measurement of intracellular cytokine including interleukin IL-4 and interferon IFN- ? ELISA kits were employed for the determination of IL-2 and sIL-2R protein levels in cell culture supernatants. Results (1) Different stimulating time and dosage of rhHMGB1 did not alter the number of IFN- αpositive cells (Th1). rhHMGB1 stimulation provoked a dose-dependent and time-dependent increase in Th2 subset and decrease in ratio of Th1 to Th2. (2) Compared with the untreated cells, when the cells were coincubated with rhHMGB1 (10-100ng/ml) for 12 hrs, protein release of IL-2 and sIL-2R were significantly up-regulated. At 48 hrs, in contrast, protein production was relatively lower in cells after exposure to 100-1000 ng/ ml rhHMGB1. 11The Construction of Active Source Repeated Monitoring in the Qilian Mountain, Gansu Province显示文摘The exciting source of the active source repeated monitoring is located in the Xiliushui Reservoir in Zhangye,Gansu Province. The system began operating normally on July 9,2015,and we had completed a period of 40 days of continuous excitation experiment before November 10,2015. Our results reveal that the airgun source has good consistency and repeatability,and the detective system of active source can record signal clearly. The construction of active source repeated exploration projects has achieved some results,which can provide valuable experience for the research of active source repeated exploration. 14Ultrasound speed and attenuation in progressive trypsin digested articular cartilage显示文摘Subtle changes of articular cartilage(AC) can lead to tissue degeneration and even osteoarthritis(OA).The early degeneration of AC is closely related to a change in proteoglycans(PG) content.The observation of PG is therefore an appropriate way of studying OA and evaluating the degree of AC degeneration.In this study,20 cartilage-bone samples were prepared from normal porcine femoral condyle cartilage and 10 samples were digested over 2 h using 0.25% trypsin solution.The dynamic process of PG-digestion was explored using a conventional A-mode ultrasound(US) experimental system with a 10 MHz center frequency.Quantitative acoustic parameters were calculated from ultrasonic radio-frequency echo signals and included US speed(USS),US amplitude attenuation coefficient(UAA) and broadband US attenuation coefficient(BUA).The experimental results showed that the conventional A-mode ultrasound is valuable for tracking the degree of PG-digestion.Histology also confirmed the validity of the ultrasound observations.For every AC sample,the degree of PG-digestion within a given time was different and was affected by individual differences.After two hours of degeneration,USS showed a mean decrease of 0.4%(P<0.05).UAA was significantly lower after a two-hour PG depletion period(from(2.45±0.23) to(2.28±0.41) dB mm?1).BUA showed no significant differences during this process.In conclusion,conventional ultrasound can provide useful information about trypsin-induced progressive PG depletion in AC and can reflect variations of PG content via the quantitative acoustic parameters USS and UAA.The results of this study may be used to identify an indirect indicator of cartilage matrix integrity and OA disease progression.NIU HaiJun LI LiFeng SUN Feng YAN Yan WANG YueXiang LI DeYu FAN YuBo 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,11:3

16Integration of homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation growth via 3D alloy framework for stable Na/K metal anode显示文摘Sodium/Potassium(Na/K)metal anodes have been considered as the promising anodes for next-generation Na/K secondary batteries owing to their ultrahigh specific capacity,low redox potential and low cost.However,their practical application is still hampered due to unstable solid electrolyte interphase,infinite volume change,and dendrite growth.Herein,we design a 3D-Na_(3)Bi/3D-K_(3)Bi alloy host which enables the homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation growth of Na/K metal.The unique structure with periodic alternating of electron and ion conductivity improves the mass transfer kinetics and prevents the volume expansion during cycling.Meanwhile,the sodiophilicity of Na_(3)Bi/potassiophilicity of K_(3)Bi framework can avoid dendritic growth.Cycling lifespans over 700 h with 1 mAh cm^(−2)for 3D-Na_(3)Bi@Na electrode and about 450 h with 1 mAh cm^(−2)for 3D-K_(3)Bi@K electrode are achieved,respectively.3D-Na_(3)Bi@Na||Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))3 full battery shows sustainable cycle performance over 400 cycles.This design provides a simple but effective approach for achieving safety of sodium/potassium metal anodes.Shufen Ye Lifeng Wang Fanfan Liu Pengcheng Shi Yan Yu 2021eScience2021,1,1:3

18Spatiotemporal dynamics of the vegetation in Ningxia,China using MODIS imagery显示文摘The vegetation in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(henceforth,Ningxia)of north-western China plays an important role in guarding regional ecological safety and sustainable development.However,it is unclear how climate affects vegetation growth in terms of seasonality and various vegetation types in Ningxia.Based on remote sensing vegetation index from 2001 to 2016,climatic parameters,and the Chinese vegetation type data,this article examines the spatiotemporal effects of climate parameters on vegetation.The relative importance to variability in the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)for different seasons and various vegetated types is also determined.The results demonstrate that the vegetation increased from 2001 to 2016 in Ningxia.The rate of NDVI increase was fastest in summer and slowest in spring.Areas with significant increases in vegetation occurred primarily in the southern mountain,Liupan Mountain,and central arid areas.Degraded vegetation occurred in the Yellow River irrigation area with intense human activity influence.The vegetation in most areas of Ningxia will continue to increase in the future.The sensitivity of vegetation to temperature,precipitation,sunshine duration,and wind velocity showed significantly seasonal variability.Sunshine duration and wind velocity were important climatic factors affecting vegetation growth in Ningxia.However,the impact of summer precipitation variation on summer NDVI(SMN)demonstrated a time lag effect.The impact of climate variation on vegetation was distinct among various vegetation types.Moreover,the spatial pattern of vegetation in Ningxia was also impacted by human activities.Yi HE Haowen YAN Lei MA Lifeng ZHANG Lisha QIU Shuwen YANG 2020Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,1:3

20Wheat MADS-box gene TaSEP3-D1 negatively regulates heading date显示文摘The MADS-box gene plays an important role in regulating plant growth and development.In this study,a SEP3-like MADS-box gene TaSEP3-1 was isolated from bread wheat.The expression patterns of the three homoeologs TaSEP3-A1,TaSEP3-B1,and TaSEP3-D1 were similar,and higher expression levels were detected in floral organs and developing kernels.TaSEP3-D1 was located in the nucleus and cytoplasm and possessed transactivation activity in yeast.Homoeolog sequence polymorphism analysis identified four,three,and four haplotypes of TaSEP3-A1,TaSEP3-B1,and TaSEP3-D1,respectively,and the haplotypes of TaSEP3-D1 had larger effects on agronomic traits than those of TaSEP3-A1 and TaSEP3-B1.D1_h4,significantly associated with heading date,plant height,and other yield-related traits,was the favored haplotype of TaSEP3-D1.Transgenic wheat genotypes overexpressing TaSEP3-D1 exhibited delayed heading and reduced plant height,indicating a role in regulating heading date and plant development.These results shed light on the role of TaSEP3-D1 in wheat plant development.The favored haplotype of TaSEP3-D1 can be applied in breeding to improve plant architecture and yield in wheat.Lei Zhang Hao Zhang Linyi Qiao Lingfeng Miao Dong Yan Pan Liu Guangyao Zhao Jizeng Jia Lifeng Gao 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,5:2
