| 1 | Vegetation cover change and the driving factors over northwest China显示文摘In this paper the spatio-temporal variation of vegetation cover in northwest China during the period of 1982-2006 and its driving factors were analyzed using GIMMS/NDVI data. The annual average NDVI was increased with a rate of 0.0005/a in northwest China and there was an obvious difference between regions. The trend line slopes of NDVI were higher than 0.0005 in the Tianshan Moutains and Altay Mountains of Xinjiang,the Qilian Mountains of Gansu and the eastern part of Qinghai,which indicated the vegetation cover was significantly increased in these areas. The trend line slopes of NDVI were lower than 0.0005 in the southern region of Qinghai,the border regions of Shaanxi and Ningxia,the parts of Gansu and Tarim Basin,Turpan and Tuoli in Xinjiang,which indicated the vegetation cover was declined in these areas. The NDVI of woodland,grassland and cultivated land had an ascending tendency during the study period. The study shows that the vegetation cover change was caused by both natural factors and human activities in northwest China. The natural vegetation change,such as forests was influenced by climate change,while human activities were the main reason to the change of planting vegetation. The changes of vegetation covers for different elevations,slopes and slope aspects were quite different. When the elevation is exceeded to 4,000 m,the NDVI increasing trend was very low;the NDVI at the slope of less than 25° was increased by the ecological construction;the variation of NDVI on sunny slope was stronger than that on shady slope. The temperature rose significantly in recent 25 years in northwest China by an average rate of 0.67oC/10a,and precipitation increased by an average rate of 8.15 mm/10a after 1986. There was positive correlation between vegetation cover and temperature and annual precipitation changes. Rising temperature increased the evaporation and drought of soils,which is not conducive to plant growth,and the irrigation in agricultural areas reduced the correlation between agricultural vegetation NDVI and precipitation. | 2 | GRAIN LENGTH AND AWN 1 negatively regulates grain size in rice显示文摘Grain size is an important factor determining yield in rice. Here, we identified a recessive mutant gene, grain length and awn 1 (gla1), which caused a significant increase in grain length and weight, and was associated with long awns. The gla1 mutation was mapped to a single-nucleotide polymorphism in a gene encoding a cytoplasmically-localized mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphatase. Overexpression of GLA1 caused a decrease in grain length, and the GLA1 protein interacted with OsMAPK6. | 3 | Less and shrunken pollen 1(LSP1) encodes a member of the ABC transporter family required for pollen wall development in rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Pollen fertility is an agronomic trait that strongly influences rice yield. Recent studies have revealed that the development of the pollen wall is required for pollen fertility and is regulated by several genes. However, the mechanisms underlying pollen and pollen wall development in rice remain largely unknown. In the present study, a point mutation in a gene on chromosome 1 was identified that resulted in the production of less and shrunken pollen(LSP) and led to defects in pollen wall formation. This gene was named LSP1 and was found to encode a member of the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette(ABC)transporter G subfamily, OsABCG3. Two other loss-of-function mutants of LSP1/OsABCG3,generated using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, showed the same male sterile phenotype. The LSP1/OsABCG3 gene showed a spatio-temporal expression pattern in the developing anthers, and is an ortholog of the Arabidopsis genes At ABCG1 and At ABCG16, which play an important role in pollen wall development. Mutation of LSP1/OsABCG3 affected the expression of several genes involved in pollen and pollen wall formation. This paper describes the recently discovered hominoid fossil teeth from human site of Mulanshan cave in Chongzuo of Guangxi, whose geological age is the Late Pleistocene, about 11000 yeas age based on associated mammal fauna and U-series dating. Compared with those of modern and subfossil orangutans from Indonesia, other fossil great apes from China, the hominoid teeth from Mulanshan cave are orangutan-like, but show somehow different from Indonesia's orangutans, the average sizes of cheek teeth larger and occlusal enamel wrinkles less and simpler. They are classified temporarily as the subspecies of Pongo pygmaeus weidenreichi. | 17 | Screening and Assessing 11 Mycobacterium tuberculosis Proteins as Potential Serodiagnostical Markers for Discriminating TB Patients from BCG Vaccinees显示文摘Purified protein derivative (PPD) skin tests often yield poor specificity, so that to develop new serological antigens for distinguishing between Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination is a priority, especially for developing countries like China. We predicted the antigenicity for selected open reading frames (ORFs) based on the genome sequences of M. tuberculosis H37Rv and M. bovis BCG, as well as their functions and differences of expression under different stimulus. The candidate ORFs were cloned from H37Rv sequences and expressed as recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli. We studied the serodiagnostic potential of 11 purified recombinants by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and involving a cohort composed of 58 TB patients (34 males and 24 females), 8 healthy volunteers and 50 PPD-negative individuals before and after BCG vaccination. For all the 11 antigens, the median OD values for the sera from TB patients were statistically significantly higher than those for PPD-negative individuals before or after BCG vaccination (P<0.01). They had at least 92% specificity in healthy controls and six seroantigens (Rv0251c, Rv1973, Rv2376c, Rv2537c, Rv2785c and Rv3873A) were never reported with seroantigenicities previously. | 18 | Bilateral asymmetric tonic seizure in insuloopercular epilepsy:an anatomo-electroclinical study显示文摘Background:Insulo-opercular seizures are highly heterogeneous in seizure semiology and electrical features.Bilateral asymmetric limb posturing,as a classical pattern of supplementary sensorimotor area(SMA)seizure,also occurs in insulo-opercular epilepsy.This study was aimed to study the anatomo-electro-clinical correlations in bilateral asymmetric tonic seizures(BATS),in order to advance the understanding of insulo-opercular epilepsy.Methods:Eight patients with insulo-opercular epilepsy as confirmed by stereoelectroencephalography(SEEG)and manifesting BATS as the major ictal motor sign,in Guangdong Sanjiu Brain Hospital Epilepsy Center from 2014 to 2018,were employed in this study.The BATS of the patients were evaluated,and the semiologic features and concomitant intracerebral EEG changes were quantified.Then the variables were examined with Cluster Analysis,and the semiologic features were correlated with anatomic localization using the Kendall correlation test.Results:Of the 8 patients,the most frequent initial motor sign was bilateral asymmetric tonic posturing(62.5%).Facial tonic-clonic sign also had a high prevalence in the evolution of seizures(87.5%).The results of Cluster Analysis showed that the semiologic features were subdivided into two main groups,one group comprising exclusively BATS and the other including signs of focal tonic seizure,aura,focal limb tonic-clonic seizure(TCS),facial TCS,hypermotor behavior,eye movement,autonomic changes and generalized TCS.The BATS was strongly associated with the posterior long gyrus(PLG)of insula(t=0.732)and parietal operculum(t=1.000);the hypermotor behaviors were associated with the anterior long gyrus(ALG)(t=0.770);and the autonomic changes were associated with the anterior limiting sulcus(ALS)(t=0.734)and middle short gyrus(MSG)(t=0.700).Conclusions:The seizure semiology of insulo-opercular epilepsy is characterized,in temporal order,by BATS,with or without simultaneous hypermotor behaviors,and frequently ends up with facial tonic-clonic signs,which is different from that of the SMA seizure.The early spread network involving the posterior insular lobe and parietal operculum may contribute to this pattern of manifestation. | Xiangshu Hu Kaihui Li Xiao Wang Ping Yang Qinghua Tan Danfang Li Xiaobo Wang Fang Zeng Yang Jin Lingxia Fei Hua Li Junxi Chen Qiang Guo | 2020 | Acta Epileptologica2020,2,1: | 0 |
| 19 | Carbon sequestration benefits of the grain for Green Program in the hilly red soil region of southern China显示文摘Soil erosion disturbs not only the global carbon cycle,but it is a complex environmental problem.Revegetation could reduce carbon emission by controlling soil erosion and increase carbon sequestration and accumulation by fixing carbon in vegetation and soil.The Grain for Green Program(GFGP)of China is the largest ecological restoration program in the world closely related to land-use/land-cover change(LUCC).Systematically assessing the carbon sequestration benefit of GFGP is crucial for a better understanding of the effects of implementing GFGP and providing reasonable vegetation management.Therefore,we selected the hilly red soil region(HRSR)of southern China as a study area,which is one of the main ecologically vulnerable areas in China.We assessed the carbon sequestration in the GFGP area of the HRSR using the InVEST(Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs)model based on land-use/land-cover datasets during 2000e2015.Our results show that implementing GFGP is conducive to the enhancement of carbon sequestration services.Total carbon sequestration showed an increasing trend at a rate of 15.43%from 2000 to 2015.The most significant change mainly happened in Hunan Province with the shortest implementation time.The carbon sequestration of each carbon pool(namely aboveground biomass,belowground biomass,soil,and dead organic matter)also increased slightly.Additionally,for carbon sequestration,unused land converted to forest land is the most effective LUCC.This study can provide scientific support for the management and implementation of GFGP in the HRSR of China. | Xiaoqian Hu Zhongwu Li Jia Chen Xiaodong Nie Junyu Liu Lingxia Wang Ke Ning | 2021 | International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,2: | 0 |
