1Reproductive management through integration of PGD and MPS-based noninvasive prenatal screening/diagnosis for a family with GJB2-associated hearing impairment显示文摘A couple with a proband child of GJB2(encoding the gap junction protein connexin 26)-associated hearing impairment and a previous pregnancy miscarriage sought for a reproductive solution to bear a healthy child. Our study aimed to develop a customized preconception-to-neonate care trajectory to fulfill this clinical demand by integrating preimplantation genetic diagnosis(PGD), noninvasive prenatal testing(NIPT), and noninvasive prenatal diagnosis(NIPD) into the strategy. Auditory and genetic diagnosis of the proband child was carried out to identify the disease causative mutations. The couple then received in-vitro-fertilization treatment, and eight embryos were obtained for day 5 biopsy. PGD was performed by short-tandem-repeat linkage analysis and Sanger sequencing of GJB2 gene. Transfer of a GJB2 c.235del C heterozygous embryo resulted in a singleton pregnancy. At the 13 th week of gestation, genomic DNA(g DNA) from the trio family and cell-free DNA(cf DNA) from maternal plasma were obtained for assessment of fetal chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2 mutations. NIPT and NIPD showed the absence of chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2-associated disease in the fetus, which was later confirmed by invasive procedures and postnatal genetic/auditory diagnosis. 3Flashover Behavior of Cone-type Spacers with Inhomogeneous Temperature Distribution in SF_(6)/N_(2)-filled DC-GIL Under Lightning Impulse with DC Voltage Superimposed显示文摘Before designing DC gas insulated transmission lines(GIL),the insulation characteristics of spacers under a lightning impulse(LI)voltage with a superimposed DC voltage must be clarified.Many experiments have been performed to guide the development of the DC spacer.However,the impacts of thermal stresses on their insulation performance under combined voltage are always neglected,and little attention has been given to the insulation characteristics of spacers in an eco-friendly gas filled DC-GIL.To solve these problems,an experiment setup with the abilities to load the thermal field and the DC voltage with LI voltage superimposed on the cone-type spacer are built.After that,the insulation characteristics of spacers under the combined voltage of DC with lightning impulse at 0.1 MPa SF_(6)/N_(2) gas mixtures are investigated,under different thermal stress conditions.The experiment’s results indicate that:1)The flashover voltage of spacers under the same polarity superimposed voltages is slightly higher than that under LI alone.Conversely,the flashover voltage under reverse polarity superimposed voltages is lower than that under LI alone.2)The longer the duration of the foregoing DC voltage,the differences between the flashover voltage under superposed voltage and that under LI alone are larger.3)The combined flashover voltages are reduced under thermal stress.To ensure the insulation performance of newly designed DC spacers,the insulation test is suggested to be applied under thermal stress and combined voltage of the DC with lightning impulse,especially for superimposed reverse polarity.Guoming Ma Hongyang Zhou Yuan Wang Hanchi Zhang Shijie Lu Youping Tu Jian Wang Chengrong Li 2020CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2020,6,2:2

6Hybrid bound states in the continuum in terahertz metasurfaces显示文摘Bound states in the continuum(BICs)have exhibited extraordinary properties in photonics for enhanced light-matter interactions that enable appealing applications in nonlinear optics,biosensors,and ultrafast optical switches.The most common strategy to apply BICs in a metasurface is by breaking symmetry of resonators in the uniform array that leaks the otherwise uncoupled mode to free space and exhibits an inverse quadratic relationship between quality factor(Q)and asymmetry.Here,we propose a scheme to further reduce scattering losses and improve the robustness of symmetry-protected BICs by decreasing the radiation density with a hybrid BIC lattice.We observe a significant increase of radiative Q in the hybrid lattice compared to the uniform lattice with a factor larger than 14.6.In the hybrid BIC lattice,modes are transferred toГpoint inherited from high symmetric X,Y,and M points in the Brillouin zone that reveal as multiple Fano resonances in the far field and would find applications in hyperspectral sensing.This work initiates a novel and generalized path toward reducing scattering losses and improving the robustness of BICs in terms of lattice engineering that would release the rigid requirements of fabrication accuracy and benefit applications of photonics and optoelectronic devices.Junxing Fan Zuolong Li Zhanqiang Xue Hongyang Xing Dan Lu Guizhen Xu Jianqiang Gu Jiaguang Han Longqing Cong 2023Opto-Electronic Science2023,2,4:1

10Geochemistry of rare earth elements and yttrium in Late Permian coals from the Zhongliangshan coalfield, southwestern China显示文摘Rare earth elements and yttrium(REY)in coal deposits are considered promising alternative sources for these resources owing to their increasing global demand.This paper reports the geochemical characteristics of REY in the Late Permian coals from an underground K1a seam section of the Zhongliangshan coalfield in Chongqing,southwestern China.The mineralogy,degree of enrichment,distribution patterns,modes of occurrence,and sediment origin of REY were investigated.Compared with the average of world coals,the concentration of REY in the K1a coals were normal,dominated by light REY(LREY),with less medium and heavy REY(MREY,HREY).The fractionation degree of the MREY and HREY are higher than that of LREY in most K1a coal samples,deduced from the mixed enrichment type of REY,mainly including M-H-type,and a few L-M type and H-type.In addition,the combination of anomalies of Ce,Eu,Gd,and Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) parameters,the terrigenous materials in the K1a coal were derived from the felsic-intermediate rocks at the top of the Emeishan basalt sequence,and the samples were affected by seawater intrusion during early peat accumulation.Although the minerals primarily consist of kaolinite,illite,pyrite,and small amounts of quartz,calcite and anatase,REY are correlated with ash yield,SiO2,and Al_(2)O_(3),revealing that the REY mainly occur in aluminosilicate minerals,especially kaolinite and illite.Meanwhile,REY positively relate to P_(2)O_(5) and Zr,which may exist in phosphate-containing minerals or zircon.Furthermore,most samples in the K1a coal or ash do not reach the cut-off grade for the beneficial recovery of REY.With the exception of central Guizhou,southwestern Chongqing,and the junction of western Guizhou and northeastern Yunnan,the REY content in coals from southwestern China are high,and its by-products are suitable as potential REY sources.Qingfeng LU Shenjun QIN Hongyang BAI Wenfeng WANG De’e QI Xin HE Bofei ZHANG 2023Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,1:0
11A Noninvasive Approach to Evaluate Tumor Immune Microenvironment and Predict Outcomes in Hepatocellular Carcinoma显示文摘It is widely recognized that tumor immune microenvironment(TIME)plays a crucial role in tumor progression,metastasis,and therapeutic response.Despite several noninvasive strategies have emerged for cancer diagnosis and prognosis,there are still lack of efective radiomic-based model to evaluate TIME status,let alone predict clinical outcome and immune checkpoint inhibitor(ICIs)response for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).In this study,we developed a radiomic model to evaluate TIME status within the tumor and predict prognosis and immunotherapy response.A total of 301 patients who underwent magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)examinations were enrolled in our study.The intra-tumoral expression of 17 immune-related molecules were evaluated using co-detection by indexing(CODEX)technology,and we construct Immunoscore(IS)with the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)algorithm and Cox regression method to evaluate TIME.Of 6115 features extracted from MRI,fve core features were fltered out,and the Radiomic Immunoscore(RIS)showed high accuracy in predicting TIME status in testing cohort(area under the curve=0.753).More importantly,RIS model showed the capability of predicting therapeutic response to anti-programmed cell death 1(PD-1)immunotherapy in an independent cohort with advanced HCC patients(area under the curve=0.731).In comparison with previously radiomicbased models,our integrated RIS model exhibits not only higher accuracy in predicting prognosis but also the potential guiding signifcance to HCC immunotherapy.Jianmin Wu Wanmin Liu Xinyao Qiu Jing Li Kairong Song Siyun Shen Lei Huo Lu Chen Mingshuang Xu Hongyang Wang Ningyang Jia Lei Chen 2023Phenomics2023,3,6:0
12Dynamic compression behavior of TiZrNbV refractory high-entropy alloys upon ultrahigh strain rate loading显示文摘In this study,the dynamic compressive response behavior of a body-centered cubic(BCC)single-phase TiZrNbV refractory high-entropy alloy(RHEA)was investigated under impact at speeds of 313-1584 m s^(-1)using two-stage,gas-gun-driven,high-speed plate-impact experiments;recovery sample analysis;and theoretical calculations.The strain rate and pressure were approximately 10^(7) s^(−1) and 5.07-29.37 GPa,respectively.The results showed that the TiZrNbV RHEA had a Hugoniot elastic limit of 4.12-5.86 GPa and a spall strength of 1.84-2.03 GPa.The initial yield strength of the alloy showed a strong strain-rate dependence and could be described by the modified Zerilli-Armstrong model,while the phonon-damping effect was the main reason for its high strain-rate sensitivity.Microstructural analysis showed that the dynamic deformation of the TiZrNbV RHEA was controlled by the dislocation slip,dislocation proliferation,intersection of the deformation bands,and grain refinement.The analysis also showed that the intergranular,transgranular,and mixed-type cracks dominated the spall failure of the material.The dynamic Hall-Petch effect and pinning from the lattice distortion led to high dynamic yield strength.The critical strain rate for the phonon drag effect was positively related to the relative atomic mass and local strain field of the metals.Within the experimental loading range,the RHEA showed good structural stability,and simultaneously,the theoretical calculation method for the equation of state based on a cold-energy mixture could accurately predict its shock-response behavior.The valence-electron concentration(VEC)had a direct effect on the shock-compression properties of the HEAs;higher VEC implied more difficulty in compressing the HEAs.The findings of this study provide insights into understanding the mechanical response characteristics of RHEAs under extreme conditions such as high-speed impact and ultrahigh strain-rate loading.Kerong Ren Hongyang Liu Rong Ma Sen Chen Siyuan Zhang Ruixin Wang Rong Chen Yu Tang Shun Li Fangyun Lu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,30:0

14Separation of cortical arteries and veins in optical neurovascular imaging显示文摘Separation of arteries and veins in the cerebral cortex is of significant importance in the studies of cortical hemodynamics,such as the changes of cerebral blood flow,perfusion or oxygen con-centration in arteries and veins under different pathological and physiological conditions.Yet the cerebral vessel segmentation and vessel-type separation are challenging due to the complexity of cortical vessel characteristics and low spatial signal-to-noise ratio.In this work,we presented an effective full-field method to differentiate arteries and veins in cerebral cortex using dual-modal optical imaging technology including laser speckle imaging(LSI)and optical intrinsic signals(OIS)imaging.The raw contrast images were acquired by LSI and processed with enhanced laser speckle contrast analysis(eLASCA),algorithm.The vascular pattern was extracted and seg-mented using region growing algorithm from the eLASCA-based LSI.Meanwhile,OIS imageswere acquired altermatively with 630 and 870 nm to obtain an oxy hemoglobin concentration mapover cerebral cortex.Then the separation of arteries and veins was accomplished by Otsuthreshold segmentation algorithm based on the OIS information and segmentation of LSI.Finally,the segmentation and separation performances were assessed using area overlap measure(AOM).The segmentation and separation of cerebral vessels in cortical optical imaging have great potential applications in full-field cerebral hemodynamics monitoring and pathological study of cerebral vascular diseases,as well as in clinical intraoperative monitoring.Linna Zhao Yao Li Hongyang Lu Lu Yuan Shanbao Tong 2014Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2014,7,3:0

16Recent Advances and Perspective of Photonic Bound States in the Continuum显示文摘Recent advancements in photonic bound states in the continuum(BICs)have opened up exciting new possibilities for the design of optoelectronic devices with improved performance.In this perspective article,we provide an overview of recent progress in photonic BICs based on metamaterials and photonic crystals,focusing on both the underlying physics and their practical applications.The first part of this article introduces 2 different interpretations of BICs,based on far-field interference of multipoles and near-field analysis of topological charges.We then discuss recent research on manipulating the far-field radiation properties of BICs through engineering topological charges.The second part of the article summarizes recent developments in the applications of BICs,including chiral light and vortex beam generation,nonlinear optical frequency conversion,sensors,and nanolasers.Finally,we conclude with a discussion of the potential of photonic BICs to advance terahertz applications in areas such as generation and detection,modulation,sensing,and isolation.Webelieve that continued researchinthis area will lead to exciting new advancements in optoelectronics,particularly in the field of terahertz devices.Guizhen Xu Hongyang Xing Zhanqiang Xue Dan Lu Jinying Fan Junxing Fan Perry Ping Shum Longqing Cong 2023Ultrafast Science2023,3,5:0
17A valine residue deletion in ZmSig2A, a sigma factor, accounts for a revertible leaf-color mutation in maize显示文摘A nuclear-encoded sigma(σ) factor is essential for the transcriptional regulation of plant chloroplastencoded genes. Five putative maize r factors have been identified by database searches, but their functions are unknown. We report a maize leaf color mutant etiolated/albino leaf 1(eal1) that was derived from space mutation breeding. The eal1 mutant displays etiolated or albino leaves that then gradually turn to normal green at the seedling stage. The changes in eal1 leaf color are associated with changes in photosynthetic pigment content and chloroplast development. Map-based cloning revealed that a single amino-acid deletion changing Val_(480)-Val_(481)-Val_(482) to Val_(480)-Val_(481), in the C-terminal domain σ_(4) of the putative σ factor ZmSig2A, is responsible for the eal1 mutation. In comparison with the expression level of the wild-type(WT) allele ZmSig2A^(+) in WT plants, much higher expression of the mutant allele ZmSig2A^(⊿V) in eal1 plants was detected before the eal1 plants turned to normal green. ZmSig2A shows the highest similarity to rice OsSig2A and Arabidopsis SIG2. Ectopic expression of ZmSig2A^(+) or ZmSig2A^(⊿V) driven by the cauliflower mosaic virus 35 S promoter rescued the pale green leaf of the sig2 mutant, but ectopic expression of ZmSig2A^(⊿V) driven by the SIG2 promoter did not. We propose that the Val deletion generated a new weak allele of ZmSig2A that cannot completely abolish the ZmSig2A function. Some genes involved in chloroplast development and photosynthesis-associated nuclear genes showed significant expression differences between eal1 and WT plants. We conclude that ZmSig2A encoding a r factor is essential for maize chloroplast development.
