1The complex genetics in autism spectrum disorders显示文摘Autism spectrum disorders(ASD) are a pervasive neurodevelopmental disease characterized by deficits in social interaction and nonverbal communication, as well as restricted interests and stereotypical behavior. Genetic changes/heritability is one of the major contributing factors, and hundreds to thousands of causative and susceptible genes, copy number variants(CNVs), linkage regions, and micro RNAs have been associated with ASD which clearly indicates that ASD is a complex genetic disorder. 2A REACTIVE DYNAMIC CONTINUUM USER EQUILIBRIUM MODEL FOR BI-DIRECTIONAL PEDESTRIAN FLOWS显示文摘In this paper, a reactive dynamic user equilibrium model is extended to simu-late two groups of pedestrians traveling on crossing paths in a continuous walking facility. Each group makes path choices to minimize the travel cost to its destination in a reactive manner based on instantaneous information. The model consists of a conservation law equation coupled with an Eikonal-type equation for each group. The velocity-density relationship of pedestrian movement is obtained via an experimental method. The model is solved using a finite volume method for the conservation law equation and a fast-marching method for the Eikonal-type equation on unstructured grids. The numerical results verify the rationality of the model and the validity of the numerical method. Based on this continuum model, a number of results, e.g., the formation of strips or moving clusters composed of pedestrians walking to the same destination, are also observed.Yanqun Jiang Tao Xiong S.C. 5Superconvergence of Energy-Conserving Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Linear Hyperbolic Equations显示文摘In this paper,we study the superconvergence properties of the energy-conserving discontinuous Galerkin(DG)method in[18]for one-dimensional linear hyperbolic equations.We prove the approximate solution superconverges to a particular projection of the exact solution.The order of this superconvergence is proved to be k+2 when piecewise Pk polynomials with K≥1 are used.The proof is valid for arbitrary non-uniform regular meshes and for piecewise polynomials with arbitrary K≥1.Furthermore,we find that the derivative and function value approxi?mations of the DG solution are superconvergent at a class of special points,with an order of k+1 and R+2,respectively.We also prove,under suitable choice of initial discretization,a(2k+l)-th order superconvergence rate of the DG solution for the numerical fluxes and the cell averages.Numerical experiments are given to demonstrate these theoretical results.Yong Liu Chi-Wang Shu Mengping Zhang 2019Communications on Applied Mathematics and Computation2019,1,1:1

7Numerical simulation of a complex moving rigid body under the impingement of a shock wave in 3D显示文摘In this paper,we take a numerical simulation of a complex moving rigid body under the impingement of a shock wave in three-dimensional space.Both compressible inviscid fluid and viscous fluid are considered with suitable boundary conditions.We develop a high order numerical boundary treatment for the complex moving geometries based on finite difference methods on fixed Cartesian meshes.The method is an extension of the inverse Lax-Wendroff(ILW)procedure in our works(Cheng et al.,Appl Math Mech(Engl Ed)42:841-854,2021;Liu et al.)for 2D problems.Different from the 2D case,the local coordinate rotation in 3D required in the ILW procedure is not unique.We give a theoretical analysis to show that the boundary treatment is independent of the choice of the rotation,ensuring the method is feasible and valid.Both translation and rotation of the body are taken into account in this paper.In particular,we reformulate the material derivative for inviscid fluid on the moving boundary with no-penetration condition,which plays a key role in the proposed algorithm.Numerical simulations on the cylinder and sphere are given,demonstrating the good performance of our numerical boundary treatments.Shihao Liu Ziqiang Cheng Yan Jiang Jianfang Lu Mengping Zhang Shuhai Zhang 2022Advances in Aerodynamics2022,4,1:1

9A high order boundary scheme to simulate complex moving rigid body under impingement of shock wave显示文摘In the paper, we study a high order numerical boundary scheme for solving the complex moving boundary problem on a fixed Cartesian mesh, and numerically investigate the moving rigid body with the complex boundary under the impingement of an inviscid shock wave. Based on the high order inverse Lax-Wendroff(ILW) procedure developed in the previous work(TAN, S. and SHU, C. W. A high order moving boundary treatment for compressible inviscid flows. Journal of Computational Physics, 230(15),6023–6036(2011)), in which the authors only considered the translation of the rigid body,we consider both translation and rotation of the body in this paper. In particular, we reformulate the material derivative on the moving boundary with no-penetration condition, and the newly obtained formula plays a key role in the proposed algorithm. 10Studies on forest ecosystem physiology: marginal water-use efficiency of a tropical, seasonal, evergreen forest in Thailand显示文摘Marginal water-use efficiency plays a critical role in plant carbon–water coupling relationships.We investigated the ecosystem marginal water-use efficiency(k)of a tropical seasonal evergreen forest to(1)determine the general pattern of k across time,(2)compare different models for calculating k,and(3)address how k varies with soil water content during different seasons.There was a U-shaped diurnal pattern in k,which was higher in the early morning and late afternoon.At other times of the day,k was lower and remained constant.Ecosystem k was higher in the wet season than in the dry season.All three models successfully captured the diurnal and seasonal patterns of k but differed in the calculated absolute values.The idea that k is constant on a subdaily scale was partly supported by our study,while a constant k was only true when data from the early morning and late afternoon were not included.Theλincreases with soil water content on a seasonal scale,possibly because early morningλremained low in dry conditions when the soil water content was low.Mengping Chen Guanze Wang Shuangxi Zhou Junfu Zhao Xiang Zhang Chunsheng He Yongjiang Zhang Liang Song Zhenghong Tan 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6:1

12On the Order of Accuracy and Numerical Performance of Two Classes of Finite Volume WENO Schemes显示文摘In this paper we consider two commonly used classes of finite volume weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)schemes in two dimensional Cartesian meshes.We compare them in terms of accuracy,performance for smooth and shocked solutions,and efficiency in CPU timing.For linear systems both schemes are high order accurate,however for nonlinear systems,analysis and numerical simulation results verify that one of them(Class A)is only second order accurate,while the other(Class B)is high order accurate.The WENO scheme in Class A is easier to implement and costs less than that in Class B.Numerical experiments indicate that the resolution for shocked problems is often comparable for schemes in both classes for the same building blocks and meshes,despite of the difference in their formal order of accuracy.The results in this paper may give some guidance in the application of high order finite volume schemes for simulating shocked flows.Rui Zhang Mengping Zhang Chi-Wang Shu 2011Communications in Computational Physics2011,9,3:1
13Non-Oscillatory Hierarchical Reconstruction for Central and Finite Volume Schemes显示文摘This is the continuation of the paper”Central discontinuous Galerkin methods on overlapping cells with a non-oscillatory hierarchical reconstruction”by the same authors.The hierarchical reconstruction introduced therein is applied to central schemes on overlapping cells and to finite volume schemes on non-staggered grids.This takes a new finite volume approach for approximating non-smooth solutions.A critical step for high-order finite volume schemes is to reconstruct a non-oscillatory high degree polynomial approximation in each cell out of nearby cell averages.In the paper this procedure is accomplished in two steps:first to reconstruct a high degree polynomial in each cell by using e.g.,a central reconstruction,which is easy to do despite the fact that the reconstructed polynomial could be oscillatory;then to apply the hierarchical reconstruction to remove the spurious oscillations while maintaining the high resolution.All numerical computations for systems of conservation laws are performed without characteristic decomposition.In particular,we demonstrate that this new approach can generate essentially non-oscillatory solutions even for 5th-order schemes without characteristic decomposition.Yingjie Liu Chi-Wang Shu Eitan Tadmor Mengping Zhang 2007Communications in Computational Physics2007,2,5:1
14Deciphering the leakage conduction mechanism of BiFeO_(3)–BaTiO_(3)lead-free piezoelectric ceramics显示文摘BiFeO_(3)–BaTiO_(3)(BF–BT)based piezoelectric ceramics are a kind of high-temperature lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with great development prospects due to their high Curie temperature(TC)and excellent electrical properties.However,large leakage current limits their performance improvement and practical applications.In this work,direct current(DC)test,alternating current(AC)impedance,and Hall tests were used to investigate conduction mechanisms of 0.75BiFeO_(3)–0.25BaTiO_(3)ceramics over a wide temperature range.In the range of room temperature(RT)−150℃,ohmic conduction plays a predominant effect,and the main carriers are p-type holes with the activation energy(Ea)of 0.51 eV.When T>200℃,the Ea value calculated from the AC impedance and Hall data is 1.03 eV with oxygen vacancies as a cause of high conductivity.The diffusion behavior of thermally activated oxygen vacancies is affected by crystal symmetry,oxygen vacancy concentration,and distribution,dominating internal conduction mechanism.Deciphering the conduction mechanisms over the three temperature ranges would pave the way for further improving the insulation and electrical properties of BiFeO_(3)–BaTiO_(3)ceramics.Mengping Xue Yucheng Tang Zhihang Shan Yijin Hao Xiaoxiao Zhou Xiaoqi Gao Hezhang Li Jun Pei Boping Zhang 2023Journal of Advanced Ceramics2023,12,10:0
15Fourier analysis for discontinuous Galerkin and related methods显示文摘In this paper we review a series of recent work on using a Fourier analysis technique to study the sta-bility and error estimates for the discontinuous Galerkin method and other related schemes. The ad-vantage of this approach is that it can reveal instability of certain 'bad' ' schemes; it can verify stability for certain good schemes which are not easily amendable to standard finite element stability analysis techniques; it can provide quantitative error comparisons among different schemes; and it can be used to study superconvergence and time evolution of errors for the discontinuous Galerkin method. 16Microfluidics-assisted optimization of highly adhesive haemostatic hydrogel coating for arterial puncture显示文摘Although common in clinical practice,bleeding after tissue puncture may cause serious outcomes,especially in arterial puncture.Herein,gelatin-tannic acid composite hydrogels with varying compositions are prepared,and their adhesive properties are further optimized in microfluidic channel-based simulated vessels for haemostasis in arterial puncture.It is revealed that the composite hydrogels on the syringe needles used for arterial puncture should possess underwater adhesion higher than 4.9 kPa and mechanical strength higher than 86.0 kPa.The needles coated with the gelatin-tannic acid composite hydrogel completely prevent blood loss after both vein and arterial puncture in different animal models.This study holds great significance for the preparation of haemostatic needles for vessel puncture,and gelatin-tannic acid hydrogel coated needles may help to prevent complications associated with arterial puncture.Xingjie Yin Jingli Ren Wei Lan Yu Chen Mengping Ouyang Hua Su Lianbin Zhang Jintao Zhu Chun Zhang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,6:0
17High Order Finite Difference WENO Methods for Shallow Water Equations on Curvilinear Meshes显示文摘A high order finite difference numerical scheme is developed for the shallow water equations on curvilinear meshes based on an alternative flux formulation of the weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)scheme.The exact C-property is investigated,and comparison with the standard finite difference WENO scheme is made.Theoretical derivation and numerical results show that the proposed finite difference WENO scheme can maintain the exact C-property on both stationarily and dynamically generalized coordinate systems.The Harten-Lax-van Leer type flux is developed on general curvilinear meshes in two dimensions and verified on a number of benchmark problems,indicating smaller errors compared with the Lax-Friedrichs solver.In addition,we propose a positivity-preserving limiter on stationary meshes such that the scheme can preserve the non-negativity of the water height without loss of mass conservation.Zepeng Liu Yan Jiang Mengping Zhang Qingyuan Liu 2023Communications on Applied Mathematics and Computation2023,5,1:0
18NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON MULTI-FLUID INTERFACES显示文摘Enhancement of two fluid mixing was numerically studied by tracking the multi fluid interfaces. Level set equations were used to capture the interfaces, and flow field was obtained by upwind TVD scheme to solve 2D Eulerian equations. The boundary conditions at interface of two fluids are determined by Ghost fluid method (GFM). The distributions of fluid parameters, such as pressure and density, were got at different time steps. The results show that the method presented in this paper can track the density discontinuity perfectly. Superior to previous results, the density discontinuity remains sharper. 19Noninvasive Tracking of Every Individual in Unmarked Mouse Groups Using Multi-Camera Fusion and Deep Learning显示文摘Accurate and efficient methods for identifying and tracking each animal in a group are needed to study complex behaviors and social interactions.Traditional tracking methods(e.g.,marking each animal with dye or surgically implanting microchips)can be invasive and may have an impact on the social behavior being measured.To overcome these shortcomings,video-based methods for tracking unmarked animals,such as fruit flies and zebrafish,have been developed.However,tracking individual mice in a group remains a challenging problem because of their flexible body and complicated interaction patterns.In this study,we report the development of a multi-object tracker for mice that uses the Faster region-based convolutional neural network(R-CNN)deep learning algorithm with geometric transformations in combination with multi-camera/multi-image fusion technology.The system successfully tracked every individual in groups of unmarked mice and was applied to investigate chasing behavior.The proposed system constitutes a step forward in the noninvasive tracking of individual mice engaged in social behavior.Feng Su Yangzhen Wang Mengping Wei Chong Wang Shaoli Wang Lei Yang Jianmin Li Peijiang Yuan Dong-Gen Luo Chen Zhang 2023Neuroscience Bulletin2023,39,6:0
20Analysis of the distribution characteristics of enterovirus types based on environmental surveillance from 2013 to 2021 in Fujian Province, China显示文摘Environmental surveillance (ES) is a useful approach for monitoring circulating viruses, including polioviruses (PVs) and non-polio enteroviruses (NPEVs). In this study, the results of nine years of ES from 2013 to 2021 at six sampling sites in three cities in Fujian Province, China, were summarized. It showed that the sewage samples contained abundant viruses, but the positive rate was affected by different sampling sites. From the 520 samples, 431 PVs, 1,713 NPEVs, and 281 human adenoviruses (HAdVs) were isolated. PV isolates had been markedly affected following the adjustment of the immunization strategy. All but one PV isolate were Sabin-like strains without wild PVs. One isolate was vaccine-derived PV type 3 with 10 variation points in theVP1 region. After May 2016, PV type 2 was no longer detected, and PV type 3 became a superior serotype. Of 1,713 NPEVs, 24 serotypes were identified, including echovirus11 (E11), E6, coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3), CVB5, E7, and E3 were the predominant serotypes (37.65%, 20.96%, 11.50%, 8.87%, 8.23%, and 7.06%, respectively). The temporal dynamic of the six common serotypes was inconsistent. E3 was frequently isolated, but the number of isolates was low, with no obvious peaks. E6, E7, and CVB3 exhibited periodic changes with a high peak every three to four years, and E11 only had one high peak lasting four years. Summer-fall peaks of the echoviruses and spring-winter peaks of CVB were observed in the monthly distribution of virus isolation.
