Establishment of a dmp based maternal haploid induction system for polyploid Brassica napus and Nicotiana tabacum显示文摘Doubled haploid(DH) technology is used to obtain homozygous lines in a single generation, a technique that significantly accelerates the crop breeding trajectory. Traditionally, in vitro culture is used to generate DHs, but this technique is limited by species and genotype recalcitrance. In vivo haploid induction(HI) through seed is widely and efficiently used in maize and was recently extended to several other crops. Here we show that in vivo HI can be triggered by mutation of DMP maternal haploid inducer genes in allopolyploid(allotetraploid) Brassica napus and Nicotiana tabacum. We developed a pipeline for selection of DMP orthologs for clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats mutagenesis and demonstrated average amphihaploid induction rates of2.4% and 1.2% in multiple B. napus and N. tabacum genotypes, respectively. These results further confirmed the HI ability of DMP gene in polyploid dicot crops. The DMP-HI system offers a novel DH technology to facilitate breeding in these crops. The success of this approach and the conservation of DMP genes in dicots suggest the broad applicability of this technique in other dicot crops. | Yu Zhong Yuwen Wang Baojian Chen Jinchu Liu Dong Wang Mengran Li Xiaolong Qi Chenxu Liu Kim Boutilier Shaojiang Chen | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,6: | 4
A novel aluminum-carbon nanotubes nanocomposite with doubled strength and preserved electrical conductivity显示文摘Enhancing the mechanical strength of highly conductive pure metals usually causes significant reduction in their electrical conductivity. For example, introducing phase/matrix interfaces or more grain boundaries, are common and effective methods to strengthen metals. But it simultaneously increases the electron scattering at the interface, thus reducing the electrical conductivity. In this study,we demonstrate that pure aluminum(Al)/carbon nanotubes(CNTs)nanocomposites prepared by friction stir processing have successfully broken through these limitations. The yield strength and tensile strength of Al/CNTs nanocomposites have improved by 104.7%and 51.8%compared to pure Al,while the electrical conductivity remained comparable to that of pure Al.To explore the potential mechanisms, the interface between CNTs and Al was examined and characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and Raman spectroscopy.Little interfacial reaction compounds were present and no visible physical gaps were observed at CNTs and Al interfaces. We defined it as a clean and tightly bonded interface.Although the quantity of phase interface has increased, the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposite remains approximately unchanged. We attribute the preserved electrical conductivity to the clean and tightly bonded CNTs/Al interface in the nanocomposite. | Shuai Zhang Gaoqiang Chen Timing Qu Jinquan Wei Yufan Yan Qu Liu Mengran Zhou Gong Zhang Zhaoxia Zhou Huan Gao Dawei Yao Yuanwang Zhang Qingyu Shi Hua Zhang | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,8: | 1
Melphalan-loaded methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(D,L-lactide)copolymer nanomicelles in the treatment of multiple myeloma显示文摘Multiple myeloma(MM)is the second most common hematological tumor characterized by the proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells.Melphalan(MEL)is commonly used in the treatment of MM and is especially essential for patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation(ASCT).Although many drugs for MM have been developed in recent years, chemotherapy followed by ASCT remains the optimal option.Melphalan, the backbone of the conditioning regimen, brings severe toxicities at a high dose.Nanodrug delivery systems enable drugs to be highly effective and have low toxicity. In this study, methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(D,L-lactide)copolymer(MPEG-PDLLA)was chosen to encapsulate melphalan, and the characteristics, effectiveness, and safety of MEL/MPEG-PDLLA in vitro and in vivo were investigated.MEL/MPEG-PDLLA showed slow release and was easily engulfed by MM cells despite a result of the antitumor assay comparable to that of free melphalan in vitro. The in vivo results showed that MEL/MPEG-PDLLA could significantly alleviate tumor burden and prolong survival time without increasing the toxicity to vital organs. In addition,MEL/MPEG-PDLLA could significantly reduce the damage to the intestinal mucosa caused by melphalan. In conclusion,MEL/MPEG-PDLLA shows improved antitumor activity and has the potential to alleviate pains of MM patients undergoing ASCT. | Yingying Chen Qiang Zeng Bingyang Chu Zhigang Liu Xue Wei Mengran Chen Peipei Yang Minghai Tang Ting Niu Yongqian Jia Ying Qu Zhiyong Qian | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,9: | 0
Geology, environment, and life in the deepest part of the world’s oceans显示文摘The hadal zone, mostly comprising of deep trenches and constituting of the deepest part of the world’s oceans, represents the least explored habitat but one of the last frontiers on our planet. The present scientific understanding of the hadal environment is still relatively rudimentary, particularly in comparison with that of shallower marine environments. In the last 30 years, continuous efforts have been launched in deepening our knowledge regarding the ecology of the hadal trench. However, the geological and environmental processes that potentially affect the sedimentary, geochemical and biological processes in hadal trenches have received less attention. Here,we review recent advances in the geology, biology, and environment of hadal trenches and offer a perspective of the hadal science involved therein. For the first time,we release highdefinition images taken by a new full-ocean-depth manned submersible Fendouzhe that reveal novel species with an unexpectedly high density, outcrops of mantle and basaltic rocks, and anthropogenic pollutants at the deepest point of the world’s ocean. We advocate that the hydration of the hadal lithosphere is a driving force that influences a variety of sedimentary, geochemical, and biological processes in the hadal trench.Hadal lithosphere might host the Earth’s deepest subsurface microbial ecosystem.Future research, combined with technological advances and international cooperation, should focus on establishing the intrinsic linkage of the geology, biology, and environment of the hadal trenches. | Mengran Du Xiaotong Peng Haibin Zhang Cong Ye Shamik Dasgupta Jiwei Li Jiangtao Li Shuangquan Liu Hengchao Xu Chuanxu Chen Hongmei Jing Hongzhou Xu Jun Liu Shunping He Lisheng He Shanya Cai Shun Chen Kaiwen Ta | 2021 | The Innovation2021,2,2: | 0
Structural regulation chemistry of lithium-ion solvation in nonflammable phosphate-based electrolytes for high interfacial compatibility with graphite anode显示文摘With the booming development of lithium-ion batteries, safety has become one of the most primary focuses of current researches.Although there are various approaches to enhance the safety of lithiumion batteries,phosphate-based electrolyte holds the greatest potential for practical application due to their non-flammability.Nonetheless,its compatibility issue with the graphite anode remains a significant obstacle to its widespread use.Herein,an effective method is proposed to improve the compatibility of electrolyte with graphite(Gr)anode by rationally adjusting the proportion of lithium salt and solvent components to optimize the Li^(+)solvation structure.By slightly increasing the Li^(+)/triethyl phosphate(TEP)ratio,TEP alone cannot fully occupy the inner solvation sheath and therefore less polar ethylene carbonate(EC)has to be recruited, and the solvation structure gradually changes from Li^(+)–[TEP]_(4)to Li^(+)–[TEP]_(3)[EC]with the coexistence of EC and TEP.Simultaneously,EC molecules in the Li^(+)–[TEP]_(3)[EC]could be preferentially reduced on graphite compared to the TEP molecules, resulting in the formation of a uniform and durable solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer.Benefiting from the optimized phosphate-based electrolyte, the Gr|Li battery exhibits a capacity retention rate of 96.8%after stable cycling at 0.5 C for 470 cycles which shows a longer cycle life than the battery with carbonate electrolyte(cycling at 0.5 C for 450 cycles). Therefore, this work provides the guidance for designing a non-flammable phosphate-based electrolyte for high-safety and long cycling-life lithium-ion batteries. | Chenyang Shi Xinjing Huang Jiahao Gu Zeyu Huang Fangyan Liu Mengran Wang Qiyu Wang Bo Hong Zhian Zhang Jie Li Yanqing Lai | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,12: | 0
Development of a High-Temperature Thixotropic Cement Slurry System显示文摘Cementing carbonate reservoirs is generally a difficult task. The so-called thixotropic cement slurry has gained considerable attention in this regard as it can help tofix some notable problems.More precisely,it can easilyfill the leakage layer;moreover, its gelling strength can grow rapidly when pumping stops, thereby increasing the resistance to gas channeling, effectively preventing this undesired phenomenon in many cases.High-temperature thixotropic cement slurry systems, however, are still in an early stage of development and additional research is needed to make them a viable option. In the present study, using a self-developed composite high-temperature thixotropic additive as a basis,it is shown that the compressive strength can be adjusted by tuning the proportion of silica sand, the high-temperature retarder, fluid loss additive and dispersant(compatible with the thixotropic additive).According to the tests, the developed high-temperature thixotropic cement slurry system has a 14 d compressive strength of 29.73 MPa at 150°C,and a thickening time of 330 min when the dosage of retarder is 2%.At the same time, the rheological property, water loss, permeability, water separation rate, and settlement stability of the cement slurry system meet the requirements of cementing construction. | Ping Lv Jiufei Liu Mengran Xu Hui Tian Huajie Liu Yuhuan Bu Zhuang Cai Junfeng Qu | 2023 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2023,19,11: | 0
Assessment of the Performances of Carboxylic Acid Monomers as Fluid Loss Additives for Oil-Well Cement显示文摘The application of polycarboxylic acid as a fluid loss additive for cement(i.e.,a substance specifically designed to lower the volume of filtrate that passes through the cement)can prolong the thickening time of cement slurries.Given the lack of data about the effects of carboxylic acid monomers as possible components for the additives traditionally used for oil-well cement,in this study different cases are experimentally investigated considering different types of these substances, concentrations, temperatures, and magnesium ion contamination. The results demonstrate that itaconic acid has a strong retarding side effect, while maleic and acrylic acids have similar influences on the thickening time of the cement slurry. The rheological properties of the cement slurry tend to deteriorate when the carboxylic acid monomer content in the fluid loss additive is increased to 40%.If the temperature exceeds 80°C,there is a significant decrease in the related impact on the thickening duration. With an increase in the intrusion of magnesium ions to>0.5%,both the rheological properties of the cement slurry and the thickening time are affected in a negative way. | Hexing Liu Yi Huang Jinlong Zheng Ye Tian Mengran Xu Huajie Liu | 2022 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,4: | 0
Applying an Improved Dung Beetle Optimizer Algorithm to Network Traffic Identification显示文摘Network traffic identification is critical for maintaining network security and further meeting various demands of network applications. However, network traffic data typically possesses high dimensionality and complexity, leading to practical problems in traffic identification data analytics.Since the original Dung Beetle Optimizer(DBO)algorithm,Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO)algorithm,Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA),and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)algorithm have the shortcomings of slow convergence and easily fall into the local optimal solution,an Improved Dung Beetle Optimizer(IDBO)algorithm is proposed for network traffic identification.Firstly, the Sobol sequence is utilized to initialize the dung beetle population, laying the foundation for finding the global optimal solution.Next,an integration of levy flight and golden sine strategy is suggested to give dung beetles a greater probability of exploring unvisited areas, escaping from the local optimal solution, and converging more effectively towards a global optimal solution. Finally,an adaptive weight factor is utilized to enhance the search capabilities of the original DBO algorithm and accelerate convergence. With the improvements above, the proposed IDBO algorithm is then applied to traffic identification data analytics and feature selection,as so to find the optimal subset for K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)classification. The simulation experiments use the CICIDS2017 dataset to verify the effectiveness of the proposed IDBO algorithm and compare it with the original DBO,GWO,WOA,and PSO algorithms. The experimental results show that, compared with other algorithms, the accuracy and recall are improved by 1.53%and 0.88%in binary classification, and the Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)class identification is the most effective in multi-classification,with an improvement of 5.80%and 0.33%for accuracy and recall, respectively. Therefore, the proposed IDBO algorithm is effective in increasing the efficiency of traffic identification and solving the problem of the original DBO algorithm that converges slowly and falls into the local optimal solution when dealing with high-dimensional data analytics and feature selection for network traffic identification. | Qinyue Wu Hui Xu Mengran Liu | 2024 | Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,3: | 0
Design and implementation of a jellyfish otolith-inspired MEMS vector hydrophone for low-frequency detection显示文摘Detecting low-frequency underwater acoustic signals can be a challenge for marine applications.Inspired by the notably strong response of the auditory organs of pectis jellyfish to ultralow frequencies,a kind of otolith-inspired vector hydrophone(OVH)is developed, enabled by hollow buoyant spheres atop cilia.Full parametric analysis is performed to optimize the cilium structure in order to balance the resonance frequency and sensitivity. After the structural parameters of the OVH are determined, the stress distributions of various vector hydrophones are simulated and analyzed. The shock resistance of the OVH is also investigated. Finally, the OVH is fabricated and calibrated. The receiving sensitivity of the OVH is measured to be as high as−202.1 dB@100 Hz(0 dB@1 V/μPa),and the average equivalent pressure sensitivity over the frequency range of interest of the OVH reaches−173.8 dB when the frequency ranges from 20 to 200 Hz.The 3 dB polar width of the directivity pattern for the OVH is measured as 87°.Moreover,the OVH is demonstrated to operate under 10 MPa hydrostatic pressure. These results show that the OVH is promising in low-frequency underwater acoustic detection. | Renxin Wang Wei Shen Wenjun Zhang Jinlong Song Nansong Li Mengran Liu Guojun Zhang Chenyang Xue Wendong Zhang | 2021 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,1: | 0

Effect of Dandelion(Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz.)Intercropping with Different Plant Spacing on Blight and Growth of Pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)显示文摘Intercropping of crops that can secrete bacteriostatic active substances can not only inhibit the occurrence of disease but also have an important effect on plant growth. However, the effects of dandelion intercropping on pepper blight control and pepper growth remain unclear. In this study, the control effect of dandelion on pepper blight was studied by inoculating the pepper leaves with Phytophthora infestans, and it also discusses the correlation of the occurrence of pepper epidemic disease with the pepper canopy environment, soil environment, pepper photo-synthesis,and yield index. The results showed that best plant distance for dandelion intercropping was 20 cm(P20),and the control effect reached 43.31%.As compared to the CK,SOD enzyme,POD enzyme, and PAL enzyme were significantly up-regulated during the growth of pepper;chlorophyll content in pepper leaves was significantly increased;photosynthetic characteristics were significantly increased;stem diameter and yield of crop pepper were effectively improved;and the quality of the pepper product was better, but intercropping dandelion resulted in a significant decrease of nutrients in the soil environment of pepper,so a reasonable intercropping distance was needed. The correlation analysis shows that the incidence of pepper blight(A)was significantly positively correlated with soil temperature(Q),intercellular carbon dioxide(L),and canopy air temperature(O).The incidence of capsicum blight(A)was significantly negatively correlated with chlorophyll content(F),net photo-synthetic rate(K),stomatal conductance(M),ww rate(N),soil sucrase activity(W),vitamin C(AB),and leaf PAL enzyme(J).Finally,it was deduced that intercropping dandelion could effectively control the occurrence of pepper blight while also demonstrating a complex interaction with the pepper growing environment. | Peixin Li Hanbing Liu Yingtong Chen Xin Zhang Ning Cao Ying Sun Meimei Jia Mengran Wu Xuejiao Tong Xinmei Jiang Xihong Yu Yao Cheng | 2023 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,8: | 0
Simultaneous enhancement of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of as-cast Mg-5Zn via microstructural modification by friction stir processing显示文摘Magnesium alloys are ideal lightweight materials;however, their applications are extremely limited due to their low strength, poor ductility, and weak corrosion resistance. In the present study,a friction stir processing(FSP)treatment was employed to optimize the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of an as-cast Mg-5Zn alloy. The average grain size of the Mg-5Zn alloy was refined from 133.8μm to1.3μm as a result of FSP.Along different directions,FSP exhibited the enhancement effects on different mechanical properties.Furthermore, according to the potentiodynamic polarization results, the corrosion current density at the free-corrosion potential of the FSPed sample, was 4.1×10^(-6)A/cm^(2)in 3.5 wt.%Na Cl aqueous solution, which was significantly lower than that of the as-cast sample.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy revealed that the polarization impedance,Rp,of the FSPed sample was 1534Ω/cm^(2)in 3.5 wt.%NaCl aqueous solution, which was 71.4%greater than that of the as-cast sample. The corrosion morphology of the FSPed sample in 3.5 wt.%NaCl aqueous solution exhibited largely uniform corrosion, rather than severe localized corrosion characteristics, which further reduced the corrosion depth on the basis of reducing the corrosion current density. The results presented herein indicate that FSP is a viable technique for simultaneously improving the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the as-cast Mg-5Zn alloy. | Fei Long Gaoqiang Chen Mengran Zhou Qingyu Shi Qu Liu | 2023 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,6: | 0
