3Hymecromone:a clinical prescription hyaluronan inhibitor for efficiently blocking COVID-19 progression显示文摘Currently,there is no effective drugs for treating clinically COVID-19 except dexamethasone.We previously revealed that human identical sequences of SARS-CoV-2 promote the COVID-19 progression by upregulating hyaluronic acid(HA).As the inhibitor of HA synthesis,hymecromone is an approved prescription drug used for treating biliary spasm.Here,we aimed to investigate the relation between HA and COVID-19,and evaluate the therapeutic effects of hymecromone on COVID-19.Firstly,HA was closely relevant to clinical parameters,including lymphocytes(n=158;r=−0.50;P<0.0001),C-reactive protein(n=156;r=0.55;P<0.0001),D-dimer(n=154;r=0.38;P<0.0001),and fibrinogen(n=152;r=0.37;P<0.0001),as well as the mass(n=78;r=0.43;P<0.0001)and volume(n=78;r=0.41;P=0.0002)of ground-glass opacity,the mass(n=78;r=0.48;P<0.0001)and volume(n=78;r=0.47;P<0.0001)of consolidation in patient with low level of hyaluronan(HA<48.43 ng/mL).Furthermore,hyaluronan could directly cause mouse pulmonary lesions.Besides,hymecromone remarkably reduced HA via downregulating HAS2/HAS3 expression.Moreover,89%patients with hymecromone treatment had pulmonary lesion absorption while only 42%patients in control group had pulmonary lesion absorption(P<0.0001).In addition,lymphocytes recovered more quickly in hymecromone-treated patients(n=8)than control group(n=5)(P<0.05).These findings suggest that hymecromone is a promising drug for COVID-19 and deserves our further efforts to determine its effect in a larger cohort.Shuai Yang Yun Ling Fang Zhao Wei Li Zhigang Song Lu Wang Qiuting Li Mengxing Liu Ying Tong Lu Chen Daoping Ru Tongsheng Zhang Kaicheng Zhou Baolong Zhang Peng Xu Zhicong Yang Wenxuan Li Yuanlin Song Jianqing Xu Tongyu Zhu Fei Shan Wenqiang Yu Hongzhou Lu 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4:2

6Computational cytometer based on magnetically modulated coherent imaging and deep learning显示文摘Detecting rare cells within blood has numerous applications in disease diagnostics.Existing rare cell detection techniques are typically hindered by their high cost and low throughput.Here,we present a computational cytometer based on magnetically modulated lensless speckle imaging,which introduces oscillatory motion to the magneticbead-conjugated rare cells of interest through a periodic magnetic force and uses lensless time-resolved holographic speckle imaging to rapidly detect the target cells in three dimensions(3D).In addition to using cell-specific antibodies to magnetically label target cells,detection specificity is further enhanced through a deep-learning-based classifier that is based on a densely connected pseudo-3D convolutional neural network(P3D CNN),which automatically detects rare cells of interest based on their spatio-temporal features under a controlled magnetic force.To demonstrate the performance of this technique,we built a high-throughput,compact and cost-effective prototype for detecting MCF7 cancer cells spiked in whole blood samples.Through serial dilution experiments,we quantified the limit of detection(LoD)as 10 cells per millilitre of whole blood,which could be further improved through multiplexing parallel imaging channels within the same instrument.This compact,cost-effective and high-throughput computational cytometer can potentially be used for rare cell detection and quantification in bodily fluids for a variety of biomedical applications.Yibo Zhang Mengxing Ouyang Aniruddha Ray Tairan Liu Janay Kong Bijie Bai Donghyuk Kim Alexander Guziak Yi Luo Alborz Feizi Katherine Tsai Zhuoran Duan Xuewei Liu Danny Kim Chloe Cheung Sener Yalcin Hatice Ceylan Koydemir Omai B.Garner Dino Di Carlo Aydogan Ozcan 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:1
7Zero Watermarking Algorithm for Medical Image Based on Resnet50-DCT显示文摘Medical images are used as a diagnostic tool, so protecting theirconfidentiality has long been a topic of study. From this, we propose aResnet50-DCT-based zero watermarking algorithm for use with medicalimages. To begin, we use Resnet50, a pre-training network, to draw out thedeep features of medical images. Then the deep features are transformedby DCT transform and the perceptual hash function is used to generatethe feature vector. The original watermark is chaotic scrambled to get theencrypted watermark, and the watermark information is embedded into theoriginal medical image by XOR operation, and the logical key vector isobtained and saved at the same time. Similarly, the same feature extractionmethod is used to extract the deep features of the medical image to be testedand generate the feature vector. Later, the XOR operation is carried outbetween the feature vector and the logical key vector, and the encryptedwatermark is extracted and decrypted to get the restored watermark;thenormalized correlation coefficient (NC) of the original watermark and therestored watermark is calculated to determine the ownership and watermarkinformation of the medical image to be tested. After calculation, most ofthe NC values are greater than 0.50. The experimental results demonstratethe algorithm’s robustness, invisibility, and security, as well as its ability toaccurately extract watermark information. 11Extraction of allelochemicals from poplar alkaline peroxide mechanical pulping effluents and their allelopathic effects on Microcystis aeruginosa显示文摘In this study,allelochemicals were extracted from pulping effluents rather than from the raw ma-terial of plants.Herein,five organic solvents(ethyl acetate(EAC),methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE),dichloromethane(DCM),carbon tetrachloride(CTC),and petroleum(PE))were applied to sep-arately extracting the allelochemicals from alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp(APMP)effluents.The results from the algal density,inhibition ratio,and optical density of 446 nm(OD 446nm)concluded that the extractives from the APMP effluents can act as effective allelochemicals and showed noticeable allelopathic inhibition effects on Microcystis aeruginosa growth.The results in-dicated that organic solvent extraction could be a practical approach to isolate the allelochemicals from the APMP effluents,which would broaden the potential application of the APMP effluents in the production of antimicrobial agents and other value-added materials.Yanyan Wang Mengxing Zhao Tingzhi Liu 2020Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,4:0

14Garbage Collection and Data Recovery for N2DB显示文摘Non-Volatile Memory(NVM) offers byte-addressability and persistency. Because NVM can be plugged into memory and provide low latency, it offers a new opportunity to build new database systems with a single-layer storage design. A single-layer NVM-Native DataBase(N2 DB) provides zero copy and log freedom. Hence, all data are stored in NVM and there is no extra data duplication and logging during execution. N2 DB avoids complex data synchronization and logging overhead in the two-layer storage design of disk-oriented databases and in-memory databases. Garbage Collection(GC) is critical in such an NVM-based database because memory leaks on NVM are durable. Moreover, data recovery is equally essential to guarantee atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability properties. Without logging, it is a great challenge for N2 DB to restore data to a consistent state after crashes and recoveries. This paper presents the GC and data recovery mechanisms for N2 DB. Evaluations show that the overall performance of N2 DB is up to 3:6 higher than that of InnoDB. Enabling GC reduces performance by up to 10%,but saves storage space by up to 67%. 15The History and Advances of Reversible Terminators Used in New Generations of Sequencing Technology显示文摘DNA sequencing using reversible terminators, as one sequencing by synthesis strategy, has garnered a great deal of interest due to its popular application in the second-generation high-throughput DNA sequencing technology. In this review, we provided its history of development, classification, and working mechanism of this technology. We also outlined the screening strategies for DNA polymerases to accommodate the reversible terminators as substrates during polymerization; particularly, we introduced the 'REAP' method developed by us. 16Mixed Attention Densely Residual Network for Single Image Super-Resolution显示文摘Recent applications of convolutional neural networks(CNNs)in single image super-resolution(SISR)have achieved unprecedented performance.However,existing CNN-based SISR network structure design consider mostly only channel or spatial information,and cannot make full use of both channel and spatial information to improve SISR performance further.The present work addresses this problem by proposing a mixed attention densely residual network architecture that can make full and simultaneous use of both channel and spatial information.Specifically,we propose a residual in dense network structure composed of dense connections between multiple dense residual groups to form a very deep network.This structure allows each dense residual group to apply a local residual skip connection and enables the cascading of multiple residual blocks to reuse previous features.A mixed attention module is inserted into each dense residual group,to enable the algorithm to fuse channel attention with laplacian spatial attention effectively,and thereby more adaptively focus on valuable feature learning.The qualitative and quantitative results of extensive experiments have demonstrate that the proposed method has a comparable performance with other stateof-the-art methods.Jingjun Zhou Jing Liu Jingbing Li Mengxing Huang Jieren Cheng Yen-Wei Chen Yingying Xu Saqib Ali Nawaz 2021Computer Systems Science & Engineering2021,39,10:0
17Multi-Clock Snapshot Isolation Concurrency Control for NVM Database显示文摘Multi-Clock Snapshot Isolation(MCSI)is a concurrency control mechanism that implements snapshot isolation on a single-layer Non-Volatile Memory(NVM)database.It stores a single copy of data by using multi-version storage to ensure durability and runtime access.With multi-clock transaction timestamp assignment,MCSI can efficiently generate snapshots with vector clocks and use per-thread transaction status arrays to identify uncommitted versions in NVM.For evaluation,we compared MCSI with the PostgreSQL-style concurrency control used in the single-layer NVM database N2DB.The maximum transaction throughput of MCSI is 101%–195%higher than that of N2DB for the YCSB workloads,and 25%–49%higher for the TPC-C workloads.Moreover,the transaction latency of MCSI remains relatively stable as the thread count increases.With 18 worker threads,the average transaction latency of MCSI is 65%–84%lower than that of N2DB for the YCSB workloads and 16%–43%lower for the TPC-C workloads.Xuyang Liu Kang Chen Mengxing Liu Shiyu Cai Yongwei Wu Weimin Zheng 2022Tsinghua Science and Technology2022,27,6:0
