1Crop photosynthetic response to light quality and light intensity显示文摘Under natural conditions, plants constantly encounter various biotic and abiotic factors, which can potentially restrict plant growth and development and even limit crop productivity. Among various abiotic factors affecting plant photosynthesis, light serves as an important factor that drives carbon metabolism in plants and supports life on earth. The two components of light(light quality and light intensity) greatly affect plant photosynthesis and other plant's morphological, physiological and biochemical parameters. The response of plants to different spectral radiations and intensities differs in various species and also depends on growing conditions. To date, much research has been conducted regarding how different spectral radiations of varying intensity can affect plant growth and development. 2四川地区玉米/大豆带状套作对大豆形态、叶绿素荧光特征及系统产量的影响显示文摘玉米/大豆带状套作可以充分利用光环境,提高单位土地面积物质产出。为探明玉米/大豆带状复合种植模式下不同空间配置对大豆冠层光环境、形态、产量及系统效益的影响,进而为大豆高产优质栽培提供依据,本研究选用半紧凑型(‘川单418’)和紧凑型(‘荣玉1210’)玉米品种与大豆带状套作,固定带宽为200cm,玉米采用宽窄行种植,玉米窄行距设置3个处理:20cm、40cm、60cm;并以单作大豆(SS)作为对照。分析透光率、形态、光合色素、荧光参数、生物量和系统产量的变化规律。结果表明:套作大豆冠层透光率、红光/远红光(R/FR)比值随玉米窄行距的增大而逐渐降低;套作下大豆茎粗、节数、茎干重和全叶干重均随玉米窄行距增大呈降低趋势,最大值出现在玉米窄行距20cm处理下;与单作大豆相比,两个玉米品种下大豆茎粗、节数、茎干重和全叶干重均显著降低,而第2节间长和主茎长显著升高。套作下大豆叶片光合色素含量随玉米窄行距的增大而逐渐降低,各行距处理及不同玉米品种下套作的叶片光合色素含量均低于单作大豆。大豆叶片荧光参数Fv/Fm、NPQ、Fq'Fm'和Fq'/Fv'随玉米窄行距的增大均呈先增大后减小的趋势,而Fo变化趋势与之相反。玉米收获后,大豆光环境得到改善并迅速恢复生长,套作大豆形态生理指标与单作差异减小,但由于前期玉米的遮荫,各套作处理间大豆产量差异仍显著。通过系统效益分析,在玉米窄行距40cm处理下,套作系统综合产量最高,两玉米品种下玉米、大豆产量平均分别为8559.52kg·hm^-2、1717.60kg·hm^-2,土地当量比平均达1.57。本试验中大豆与两个株型玉米套作,大豆形态生理指标差异影响不显著。因此,选择紧凑或半紧凑玉米品种,适度缩小玉米窄行距可以显著改善带状套作大豆的生长环境,提高其生物量和产量。陈元凯 冯铃洋 Muhammad Ali Raza 范元芳 谌俊旭 雍太文 杨文钰 杨峰 2019中国生态农业学报(中英文)2019,27,6:16
3氮磷配施对玉米-大豆套作模式下种间作用、玉米产量及干物质积累与转运的影响显示文摘以盆栽和田间小区试验结合的方法,通过设置根系分隔与不分隔方式及不同供氮(0、120、180、240kg/hm^2,记为N_0、N_(120)、N_(180)、N_(240))、供磷水平(0、35、70、105kg/hm2,记为P_0、P_(35)、P_(70)、P_(105)),探究在玉米-大豆套作模式下氮磷配施对种间作用、玉米产量及干物质积累与转运的影响。结果表明,1)氮磷互作效应对带状套作系统的种间促进作用显著,配施可缓解玉米与大豆的种间竞争作用,提高套作系统土地当量比率、种间竞争力和营养竞争比率,促进玉米对氮、磷素的吸收,表现出显著的套作产量优势和资源利用优势(LER>1),且优势效应高于单施氮、磷肥。2)氮磷互作对玉米各生育期干物质积累量的影响呈峰形变化趋势,中氮中磷(N_(180)P_(70))处理可显著降低花前干物质的积累量,增加成熟期干物质积累总量,促进花后干物质积累向籽粒转运,提高玉米收获指数。3)种间作用和氮磷互作可显著影响玉米产量,提高套作玉米有效穗和穗粒数,两种植模式中无论施肥与否,在套作条件下玉米的产量均高于净作,且在N_(180)P_(70)处理时玉米产量达到最大值,套作较净作增产幅度达1.65%~20.43%。本研究结果表明,套作模式下玉米氮磷配施以施氮180kg/hm^2、施磷70kg/hm^2时,种间促进作用显著,可改善其穗部性状,有利于成熟期干物质的积累和向籽粒的转运,最终获得较高的产量。曾瑾汐 文熙宸 Muhammad Ali Raza 陈国鹏 陈诚 彭霄 马艳玮 李丽 官思成 杨文钰 王小春 2017草业学报2017,26,7:11
41-MCP Regulates Ethanol Fermentation and GABA Shunt Pathway Involved in Kiwifruit Quality During Postharvest Storage显示文摘Kiwifruit(Actinidia deliciosa)‘Bruno’is prone to accumulate ethanol rapidly after respiratory climacteric during storage at ambient conditions without stresses,which causes quality deterioration of the fruit associated with alcohol off-flavor.For maintaining the postharvest quality of kiwifruit‘Bruno’,the effects of 1.0μL•L^−11-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)treatment on regulating the ethanol fermentation andγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA)shunt pathway associated with control of alcohol off-flavor were investigated during storage at room temperature(24±1)°C for 27 days.The results showed that 1-MCP treatment significantly reduced the respiration rate,ethylene production,decay rate,ascorbic acid(AsA)loss,and delayed the decline in the firmness and titratable acidity(TA),and the increase in total soluble solid(TSS)in kiwifruit.Furthermore,1-MCP treatment effectively inhibited the increases in contents of acetaldehyde,ethanol,and GABA along with the suppressed activities of key enzymes involved in ethanol fermentation and GABA shunt pathway,such as pyruvate decarboxylase(PDC),alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH),glutamate decarboxylase(GAD),and GABA-transaminase(GABA-T)in kiwifruit during storage.In conclusion,1-MCP treatment efficiently regulated the ethanol fermentation and GABA shunt pathway by delaying the ripening process to avoid the alcohol off-flavor development,thereby contributed to maintaining the quality of the kiwifruit.Maratab Ali Muhammad Ammar Raza Shenge Li Lichao Zhou Chen Huan Shen Shuling Xiaolin Zheng 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,1:7
5Far-red light: A regulator of plant morphology and photosynthetic capacity显示文摘Plant photosynthetic capacity directly determines crop yield. Light quality regulates photosynthetic capacity. This review discusses plant responses to far-red light from the phenotypic to the molecular level, focusing specifically on the improvement of photosynthetic capacity by adjustment of photosynthetic electron transport and the path of light energy. Far-red light can also regulate leaf angle and increase plant height and leaf area, via expression of associated genes, to capture more light energy.Thus, far-red light regulates plant morphology and photosynthetic capacity. 7Why more research needs to be done on echinococcosis in Pakistan显示文摘Background:Echinococcosis has a worldwide geographical distribution with endemic foci on every inhabited continent.Due to the frequent outbreaks in different parts of Pakistan in the recent past,echinococcosis is being described as a neglected tropical disease and is considered one of the most neglected parasitic diseases in the country.In endemic regions,predominantly settings with limited resources,there are high numbers of echinococcosis patients,as these communities do not have access to appropriate treatment.In Pakistan,there are limited reports on echinococcosis.The disease is prevalent in human and livestock,but this has not been sufficiently explored yet.Pakistan is an agricultural country and due to the disease’s zoonotic mode of transmission,there is a dire need of future research on it.The present paper is an effort to highlight the importance of echinococcosis in Pakistan.Discussion:There is a dire need for future research on echinococcosis in Pakistan as very few investigations had been carried out on this topic thus far.The prevalence of the disease in neighbouring countries highlights that Pakistan might be at severe risk of this zoonotic infection and further supports the need for more research.In Pakistan,the majority of the population lives in rural areas with limited acess to proper hygienic/sanitary facilities.These conditions favour the outbreak of diseases such as echinococcosis.The limited available data could result in higher outbreaks in the future,and thus cause the already weak healthcare system to overburden.The country has a meagre annual budget for health,which is being spent on known infections such as polio,dengue fever and hepatic viral infections.A proper surveillance system for echinococcosis is required across the country as treatment is usually expensive,complicated and may require extensive surgery and/or prolonged drug therapy.Development of new/novel drugs and other treatment modalities receives very little,if any,attention.Prognostic awareness programmes against this infection involve deworming of the infected animals,improved food inspection and slaughterhouse hygiene,and public education campaigns.Conclusion:Future research on echinococcosis is anticipated to demonstrate whether the epidemiology,diagnosis and recombinant vaccines/antibodies relating to echinococcosis can meet the quality standards(purity,potency,safety and efficacy)defined by the World Health Organization.Research work should be carried out on the epidemiology and serodiagnosis of echinocossis in the different areas of Pakistan,which will be useful for the proper eradication of echinococcosis in this region.The health department should implement awareness-raising campaigns for the general public in order to reduce the burden of disease.Haroon Ahmed Shahzad Ali Muhammad Sohail Afzal Abid Ali Khan Hamid Raza Zaheer Hussain Shah Sami Simsek 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:2

14Assessing canopy nitrogen and carbon content in maize by canopy spectral reflectance and uninformative variable elimination显示文摘Assessing canopy nitrogen content(CNC) and canopy carbon content(CCC) of maize by hyperspectral remote sensing data permits estimating cropland productivity, protecting farmland ecology, and investigating the nitrogen and carbon cycles in the atmosphere. This study aimed to assess maize CNC and CCC using canopy hyperspectral information and uninformative variable elimination(UVE). Vegetation indices(VIs) and wavelet functions were adopted for estimating CNC and CCC under varying water and nitrogen regimes. Linear, nonlinear, and partial least squares(PLS) regression models were fitted to VIs and wavelet functions to estimate CNC and CCC, and were evaluated for their prediction accuracy.UVE was used to eliminate uninformative variables, improve the prediction accuracy of the models, and simplify the PLS regression models(UVE-PLS). For estimating CNC and CCC, the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI, based on red edge and NIR wavebands) yielded the highest correlation coefficients(r > 0.88). PLS regression models showed the lowest root mean square error(RMSE) among all models. However, PLS regression models required nine VIs and four wavelet functions, increasing their complexity. UVE was used to retain valid spectral parameters and optimize the PLS regression models.UVE-PLS regression models improved validation accuracy and resulted in more accurate CNC and CCC than the PLS regression models. 16Role of foliar spray of plant growth regulators in improving photosynthetic pigments and metabolites in Plantago ovata (Psyllium) under salt stress–A field appraisal显示文摘Salinity is one of the major abiotic factors that limit the growth and productivity of plants.Foliar application of plant growth regulators(PGRs)may help plants ameliorate the negative impacts of salinity.Thus,a field experiment was conducted at the Botanical Garden University of Balochistan,Quetta,to explore the potential role of PGRs,i.e.,moringa leaf extract(MLE;10%),proline(PRO;1μM),salicylic acid(SA;250μM),and thiourea(TU;10 mM)in ameliorating the impacts of salinity(120 mM)on Plantago ovata,an important medicinal plant.Salinity hampered plant photosynthetic pigments and metabolites but elevated oxidative parameters.However,foliar application of PGRs enhanced photosynthetic pigments,including Chl b(21.11%),carotenoids(57.87%)except Chl a,activated the defense mechanisms by restoring and enhancing the metabolites,i.e.,soluble sugars(49.68%),soluble phenolics(33.34%),and proline(31.47%),significantly under salinity stress.Furthermore,foliar supplementation of PGRs under salt stress led to a decrease of about 43.02%and 43.27%in hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde content,respectively.Thus,PGRs can be recommended for improved photosynthetic efficiency and metabolite content that can help to get better yield under salt stress,with the best and most effective treatments being those of PRO and MLE to predominately ameliorate the harsh impacts of salinity.ABDUL SAMAD KANVAL SHAUKAT MAHMOOD-UR-REHMAN ANSARI MEREEN NIZAR NOREEN ZAHRA AMBREEN NAZ HAFIZ MUHAMMAD WALEED IQBAL ALI RAZA VLADAN PESIC IVICA DJALOVIC 2023BIOCELL2023,47,3:1

19Foliar Application of Phosphorus Enhances Photosynthesis and Biochemical Characteristics of Maize under Drought Stress显示文摘Water is essential for the growth period of crops;however,water unavailability badly affects the growth and physiological attributes of crops,which considerably reduced the yield and yield components in crops.Therefore,a pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of foliar phosphorus(P)on morphological,gas exchange,biochemical traits,and phosphorus use efficiency(PUE)of maize(Zea mays L.)hybrids grown under normal as well as water deficit situations at the Department of Agronomy,University of Agriculture Faisalabad,Pakistan in 2014.Two different treatments(control and P@8 kg ha^(−1))and four hybrids(Hycorn,31P41,65625,and 32B33)of maize were tested by using a randomized complete block design(RCBD)with three replications.Results showed that the water stress caused a remarkable decline in total soluble protein(9.7%),photosynthetic rate(9.4%)and transpiration rate(13.4%),stomatal conductance(10.2%),and internal CO_(2)rate(20.4%)comparative to well-watered control.An increase of 37.1%,36.8%,and 24.5%were recorded for proline,total soluble sugar,and total free amino acid,respectively.However,foliar P application minimized the negative impact of drought by improving plant growth,physio-biochemical attributes,and PUE in maize plants under water stress conditions.Among the hybrids tested,the hybrid 6525 performed better both under stress and non-stress conditions.These outcomes confirmed that the exogenous application of P improved drought stress tolerance by modulating growth,physio-biochemical attributes,and PUE of maize hybrids.Zahoor Ahmad Ejaz Ahmad Waraich Muhammad Zia ur Rehman Muhammad Ashar Ayub Muhammad Usman Hesham Alharby Atif Bamagoos Celaleddin Barutçular Muhammad Ali Raza FatihÇiğ Ayman El Sabagh 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,2:1
