2Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor associated spontaneous herniation of liver mimicking a pleural mass:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Spontaneous diaphragmatic herniation of the liver is a rare entity.It may mimic pulmonary mass especially in the absence of trauma.Cough is a common side effect of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitors that may cause diaphragmatic rupture due to a sudden increase in trans-diaphragmatic pressure.We present a case of ACE-inhibitor associated spontaneous herniation of the liver mimicking pleural mass.CASE SUMMARY An 80-year-old woman presented with dry cough for 1 mo and sudden onset of cramping abdominal pain for 1 d.She denied history of trauma,prior surgeries,smoking,alcohol or illicit drug use.She has a history of diabetes and was started on an ACE inhibitor 6 mo ago for the management of hypertension.Examination was remarkable for right upper quadrant tenderness.Lab work-up was unremarkable.Chest X-ray showed a right lower lung opacity suspecting right pleural mass.Chest computed tomography scan ruled out pleural mass,however,revealed herniated right lobe of the liver(3.9 cm×3.6 cm×3.4 cm)into the thoracic cavity through the posterolateral diaphragmatic defect.Laparoscopic repair of the diaphragmatic defect was performed and the ACE inhibitor was stopped.Patients’symptoms had completely resolved on follow-up.CONCLUSION ACE inhibitor-associated cough may cause diaphragmatic liver herniation mimicking pleural mass.Early diagnosis,surgical repair and addressing the triggering factors improve patients’outcomes.Sameer Saleem Tebha Zain Ali Zaidi Sehrish Sethar Muhammad Asif Abbas Virk Muhammad Nadeem Yousaf 2022World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,4:0
3Gutmicrobiome modulation:Ancillary effects of inorganic nanoparticles on gut microflora显示文摘The association of gut microflora and human health is being increasingly recognized,and the impact of gut microflora on the host is well characterized,including the body’s energy metabolism and immune system maintenance.Several human diseases,including metabolic,autoimmune,obesity,hypothyroidism,and intestinal disorders,are closely associated with gut dysbiosis.Inorganic nanoparticles(NPs)are extensively utilized in numerous fields due to their distinctive,attractive physicochemical properties.Estimation of the potential impacts of NPs,with a high number of microorganisms inside the human body(microbiota)and its genomes(microbiome),represents one of the most important aspects of nano-toxicology.This review article aims to provide information on the association of gut microflora alterations to diseases and describe the impacts of various inorganic NPs,including silver,zinc,selenium,titania,silicon,and copper,on gut microflora.Research on the effect of inorganic NPs on gut microflora of animal models and the poultry industry is reviewed.The response of pathogenic Enterobacter species to inorganic NPs has been expounded in detail.This review also highlights the need to focus on the ancillary effects of various inorganic NPs on gut microflora to expedite the suitable advancement of these particles for future use.Finally,the key opportunistic areas for the application of nanotechnology are underlined to manipulate the microbiome of gut dysbiosis,provide an overview,and address potential challenges and our perspective on this evolving field.SEHRISH ABBAS BUSHRA UZAIR MAISRA AZHAR BUTT FARID MENAA BARKAT A.KHAN 2023BIOCELL2023,47,2:0
4Effects of N_2/O_2 flow rate on the surface properties and biocompatibility of nano-structured TiO_xN_y thin films prepared by high vacuum magnetron sputtering显示文摘Ni Ti shape memory alloys(SMA) have many biomedical applications due to their excellent mechanical and biocompatible properties. However, nickel in the alloy may cause allergic and toxic reactions, which limit some applications. In this work, titanium oxynitride films were deposited on Ni Ti samples by high vacuum magnetron sputtering for various nitrogen and oxygen gas flow rates. The x-ray diffraction(XRD) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) results reveal the presence of different phases in the titanium oxynitride thin films. 5316L热浸镀铝不锈钢的研制与表征(英文)显示文摘不锈钢316L因其生物相容性而被应用于骨科种植体,但应尽量减少SS 316L种植体可能引起的相关致癌性和炎症效应。本研究采用光学显微镜、能量色散谱(EDS)、纳米压痕和腐蚀测试技术,对SS 316L上Al–Si合金涂层进行表征。采用热浸镀铝工艺,在765℃热浸2 min对SS 316L试样进行热浸镀。一半试样在马弗炉中于550℃扩散4 h,得到SS 316L扩散试样。显微组织观察表明,由于Si的加入,形成了平坦的涂层/基体界面。EDS分析证实涂层/基体界面形成了复杂的金属间化合物,最终提高了涂层的硬度和耐蚀性。Sehrish MUKHTAR Waqas ASGHAR Zubair BUTT Zaheer ABBAS Mudaser ULLAH Rana ATTA-UR-REHMAN 2018Journal of Central South University2018,25,11:0
