| 1 | Skeleton pruning as trade-off between skeleton simplicity and reconstruction error显示文摘Skeletons can be viewed as a compact shape representation in that each shape can be completely reconstructed from its skeleton.However,the usefulness of a skeletal representation is strongly limited by its instability.Skeletons suffer from contour noise in that small contour deformation may lead to large structural changes in the skeleton.A large number of skeleton computation and skeleton pruning approaches has been proposed to address this issue.Our approach differs fundamentally in the fact that we cast skeleton pruning as a trade-off between skeleton simplicity and shape reconstruction error.An ideal skeleton of a given shape should be the skeleton with a simplest possible structure that provides a best possible reconstruction of a given shape.To quantify this trade-off,we propose that the skeleton simplicity corresponds to model simplicity in the Bayesian framework,and the shape reconstruction accuracy is expressed as goodness of fit to the data.We also provide a simple algorithm to approximate the maximum of the Bayesian posterior probability which defines an order for iteratively removing the end branches to obtain the pruned skeleton.Presented experimental results obtained without any parameter tuning clearly demonstrate that the resulting skeletons are stable to boundary deformations and intra class shape variability. | SHEN Wei BAI Xiang YANG XingWei LATECKI Longin Jan | 2013 | Science China(Information Sciences)2013,56,4: | 11 |
| 2 | Rheostatic Control of ABA Signaling through HOS15-Mediated OST1 Degradation显示文摘Dehydrating stresses trigger the accumulation of abscisic acid(ABA),a key plant stress-signaling hormone that activates Snf1-Related Kinases(SnRK2s)to mount adaptive responses.However,the regulatory circuits that terminate the SnRK2s signal relay after acclimation or post-stress conditions remain to be defined.Here,we show that the desensitization of the ABA signal is achieved by the regulation of OST1(SnRK2.6)protein stability via the E3-ubiquitin ligase HOS15.Upon ABA signal,HOS15-induced degradation of OST1 is inhibited and stabilized OST1 promotes the stress response.When the ABA signal terminates,protein phosphatases ABI1/2 promote rapid degradation of OST1 via HOS15.Notably,we found that even in the presence of ABA,OST1 levels are also depleted within hours of ABA signal onset.The unexpected dynamics of OST1 abundance are then resolved by systematic mathematical modeling,demonstrating a desensitizing feedback loop by which OST1-induced upregulation of ABI1/2 leads to the degradation of OST1.This model illustrates the complex rheostat dynamics underlying the ABA-induced stress response and desensitization. | Akhtar Ali Jae Kyoung Kim Masood Jan Haris Ali Khan Irfan Ullah Khan Mingzhe Shen Junghoon Park Chae Jin Lim Shah Hussain Dongwon Baek Kai Wang Woo Sik Chung Vicente Rubio Sang Yeol Lee Zhizhong Gong Woe Yeon Kim Ray ABressan Jose MPardo Dae-Jin Yun | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,11: | 5 |
| 3 | Home risk factors for childhood pneumonia in Nanjing, China显示文摘Pneumonia is a major cause of childhood morbidity in China.Many studies of rural areas have found an association between pneumonia and air pollution from burning of bio-mass.The present study is of children living in urban,modern homes without burning of bio-mass.In order to investigate potential home risk factors associated with children’s pneumonia,China Child Home Health(CCHH)questionnaires were randomly distributed to parents of 6461 children in 23 kindergartens in all 11 districts of Nanjing,covering urban,suburban,and industrial areas.The 4014 valid questionnaires(response rate 65.7%)were returned and have been analyzed.The lifetime incidence of pneumonia in Nanjing children 1–8 years old is 26.7%.The incidence of croup,asthma and frequent common colds was strongly associated with pneumonia,as was a history of allergies in the family,and persons other than parents(for example grandparents or nanny)taking care of the child.Several home environmental factors,namely,dampness,lack of ventilation,using coal or natural gas(electricity as reference)for cooking,new furniture,and'modern'floor and wall covering materials were also significantly associated with pneumonia.The indoor environment typical of modern apartments in China was a risk factor for pneumonia among children. | ZHENG XiaoHong QIAN Hua ZHAO YiLi SHEN HongPing ZHAO ZhuoHui SUN YueXia SUNDELL Jan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34: | 3 |
