| 1 | The combined genotypes effect of ESR and FSHβ genes on litter size traits in five different pig breeds显示文摘Estrogen receptor (ESR) and Follicular-stimula-ting hormone beta subunit (FSHβ) genes were chosen as candidates to determine whether they control litter size and some other reproductive traits in swine. 269 sows from five different pig breeds were genotyped by an established PCR-RFLPs protocol at both ESR and FSHβ loci. The effects of both ESR and FSHβ on pig reproductive traits, including total number born (TNB) and number born alive (NBA), are analyzed by SAS software (version 6.12). These computation results demonstrated that both ESR locus and FSHβ locus are the major genes influencing litter size in pigs. The sows of BBBB combined genotype of ESR and FSHβ loci generally produce 1.85-3.01 TNB and 2.0-3.0 NBA more than those of ABAA combined genotype. The notable effect of ESR locus and FSHβ locus on litter size of pigs have made it possible to improve the pig reproduction by Marker-assisted selection (MAS). | 2 | Neuroprotective Autophagic Flux Induced by Hyperbaric Oxygen Preconditioning is Mediated by Cystatin C显示文摘We have previously reported that Cystatin C(CysC) is a pivotal mediator in the neuroprotection induced by hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) preconditioning; however,the underlying mechanism and how CysC changes after stroke are not clear. In the present study, we demonstrated that CysC expression was elevated as early as 3 h after reperfusion, and this was further enhanced by HBO preconditioning. Concurrently, LC3-II and Beclin-1, two positive-markers for autophagy induction, exhibited increases similar to CysC, while knockdown of CysC blocked these elevations. As a marker of autophagy inhibition, p62 was downregulated by HBO preconditioning and this was blocked by CysC knockdown. Besides, the beneficial effects of preserving lysosomal membrane integrity and enhancing autolysosome formation induced by HBO preconditioning were abolished in CysC-/-rats.Furthermore, we demonstrated that exogenous CysC reduced the neurological deficits and infarct volume after brain ischemic injury, while 3-methyladenine partially reversed this neuroprotection. | 3 | Hydrothermal Synthesis of Molybdenum Disulfide for Lithium Ion Battery Applications显示文摘Molybdenum disulfide nanoflakes were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal process using sodium molybdate and thiourea as reactants at a relatively low temperature. X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission elec-tron microscopy(TEM) indicate that the samples have the structure of 2H-MoS2 and the morphology of nanoflakes with the average thickness around 5-10 nm. The results of electrochemical properties indicate that the morphology and size of MoS2 particles have effects on their capacity when they are used as the anode for lithium ion battery. The as-prepared MoS2 samples have high reversible discharge capacity up to 994.6 mA·h·g-1 for the MoS2-1 elec-trode and 930.1 mA·h·g-1 for the MoS2-2 electrode and show excellent cycling performances. | 4 | An improved process for grain refinement of large 2219 Al alloy rings and its influence on mechanical properties显示文摘The large 2219 Al alloy rings used to connect propellant tank components of a satellite launch vehicle to each other are conventionally manufactured by radial-axial ring rolling at 460°C with 50% deformation,but often suffer from coarse elongated grain and low ductility. An improved process(hot ring rolling at460°C with 30% deformation, then air cooling to 240°C, followed by ring rolling at 240°C with 20% deformation) was tested for ring manufacturing. The corresponding microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the produced rings were studied. The results show that the improved process can successfully be applied to manufacture the large 2219 Al alloy rings without formation of macroscopic defects,resulting in a product with fine and uniform grains after heat treatment. The fracture mechanism of both rings was mainly intergranular fracture. With the resulting grain size refinement due to the improved process, more homogeneous slip occured and the crack propagation path became more tortuous during the tensile testing process. | 6 | GRAIN LENGTH AND AWN 1 negatively regulates grain size in rice显示文摘Grain size is an important factor determining yield in rice. Here, we identified a recessive mutant gene, grain length and awn 1 (gla1), which caused a significant increase in grain length and weight, and was associated with long awns. The gla1 mutation was mapped to a single-nucleotide polymorphism in a gene encoding a cytoplasmically-localized mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphatase. Overexpression of GLA1 caused a decrease in grain length, and the GLA1 protein interacted with OsMAPK6. | 9 | Less and shrunken pollen 1(LSP1) encodes a member of the ABC transporter family required for pollen wall development in rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Pollen fertility is an agronomic trait that strongly influences rice yield. Recent studies have revealed that the development of the pollen wall is required for pollen fertility and is regulated by several genes. However, the mechanisms underlying pollen and pollen wall development in rice remain largely unknown. In the present study, a point mutation in a gene on chromosome 1 was identified that resulted in the production of less and shrunken pollen(LSP) and led to defects in pollen wall formation. This gene was named LSP1 and was found to encode a member of the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette(ABC)transporter G subfamily, OsABCG3. Two other loss-of-function mutants of LSP1/OsABCG3,generated using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, showed the same male sterile phenotype. The LSP1/OsABCG3 gene showed a spatio-temporal expression pattern in the developing anthers, and is an ortholog of the Arabidopsis genes At ABCG1 and At ABCG16, which play an important role in pollen wall development. Mutation of LSP1/OsABCG3 affected the expression of several genes involved in pollen and pollen wall formation. | 12 | An Efficient and Reliable Assay for Investigating the Effects of Hypoxia/Anoxia on Drosophila显示文摘Stroke is a leading cause of death worldwide. Up to one thousand potential drugs or interventions have been developed to treat stroke, out of which ~160 have gone on to clinical trials. However, none of them has been successful. New insights into the molecular and cellular mechanisms of ischemia-induced injury are needed for discovering new therapeutic targets. Recently, Drosophila has been used to uncover new hypoxia-related genes. In this study, we describe an efficient and reliable assay with a sophisticated apparatus for studying the effects of oxygen deprivation on flies. Using this assay, wild-type flies were exposed to an anoxic environment for varying lengths of time, then the cumulative death rate and mobility recovery were systematically analyzed. We found that anoxia for over one hour caused lethality. The cumulative death rate on day 5 after anoxia was linearly and positively correlatedwith the duration of anoxia, and reached 50% when the duration was 2.5 h–3 h. | 14 | Chronic fatigue syndrome treated by the traditional Chinese proce-dure abdominal tuina:a randomized controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of the traditional Chinese procedure abdominal Tuina(AT) on chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).METHODS: This randomized, single assessor-blinded clinical trial was carried out from May 2014 to April 2015. Eighty participants in the trial were divided randomly into two groups: experimental group and control. The experimental group(40 cases) was treated by AT and the control group(40 cases) by acupuncture. Each treatment was conducted once a day, 5 d for one course, at an interval of 2 d between each course. The whole treatment course lasted for 4 weeks. To ascertain the effect of AT and acupuncture, Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(HAMD) scores were used before and after treatment. Patients were followed up for3 months after treatment.RESULTS: After treatment for 4 weeks, 77 patients(39 cases in the experimental group and 38 cases in the control group) completed the trial. The FS-14,SAS and HAMD scores decreased(P < 0.05) significantly compared with those before treatment in both groups. The FS-14 and HAMD(P < 0.05) scores in the experimental group were much lower than those in the control group. The difference in SAS scores between the two groups was not significant.In the final follow-up, CFS in two cases in the experimental group and three in the control group recurred, but the difference was not significant. | 15 | ZIF-8-based micro-arc oxidation composite coatings enhanced the corrosion resistance and superhydrophobicity of a Mg alloy显示文摘Mg alloys are considered the most promising engineering materials because of their unique properties.However,the uncontrolled corrosion rate of these alloys limits their applications.Therefore,in this study,a micro-arc oxidation layer was used as a transition layer to“directly”grow a zinc-based metal-organic framework(MOF)composite coating on the surface of a Mg alloy(AZ91D).Herein,the two zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF-8)coatings with different morphologies were separately prepared by homologous metal oxide induction and a one-step in-situ growth method.The superhydrophobic composite coating showed strong hydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties,which could prevent the penetration of water and corrosive ions(Cl^(−))into the surface of AZ91D.Electrochemical tests demonstrated that the super-hydrophobic composite coatings greatly enhanced the corrosion resistance of AZ91D,and the corrosion current density decreased from 10^(−5)to 10^(−9)A/cm^(2).These results indicate that the ZIF-8 coatings are beneficial for improving the hydrophobicity and enhancing the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys.Therefore,MOF composite coatings provide a new strategy that can be used to prepare multifunctional anticorrosion coatings on metal substrates. | Shiquan Jiang Zhiyuan Zhang Dong Wang Yuqing Wen Ning Peng Wei Shang | 2023 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,4: | 3 |
| 16 | Dinosaur eggs and dinosaur egg-bearing deposits(Upper Cretaceous) of Henan Province,China:Occurrences,palaeoenvironments,taphonomy and preservation显示文摘The Upper Cretaceous dinosaur egg-bearing deposits in Henan Province,central China are divided into three formations in ascending order:Gaogou,Majiacun and Sigou.The Gaogou Formation belongs to alluvial fan deposits containing the fossil dinosaur egg assemblage of Faveoloolithus,Dendroolithus,Dictyoolithus,Paraspheroolithus and Longiteresoolithus.The Majiacun Formation is interpreted as braided stream to meandering stream deposits with assemblage of Ovaloolithus,Paraspheroolithus,Placoolithus,Dendroolithus,Prismatoolithus, rare Youngoolithus and Nanhiungoolithus.The Sigou Formation is shallow lacustrine/palustrine to low-sinuosity river sedimentary rocks with assemblage of Macroolithus,Elongatoolithus,Ovaloolithus and Paraspheroolithus. To date,37 oospecies,13 oogenera and 8 oofamilies of dinosaur eggs have been distinguished.Autochthonous dinosaur eggs are preserved in the floodplain deposits,whereas allochthonous and parautochthonous dinosaur eggs are preserved in the alluvial fans.This suggests that river floodplains are the best environments for the preservation of numerous autochthonous dinosaur eggs.The preservation of most dinosaur eggs in brown to red calcic palaeosoils,muddy siltstones or mudstones suggests that the paleoclimate of the nesting area was semiarid.The presence of gray and green mudstone and coal layers,however,indicates that there existed an ephemeral subhumid climate during the middle and Late Cretaceous.It is suggested that such a climate was favorable for the development of meandering streams in a vegetated environment. | Xinquan Liang Shunv Wen Dongsheng Yang Shiquan Zhou Shichong Wu | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,11: | 3 |
| 17 | Boosting practical high voltage lithium metal batteries by butyronitrile in ether electrolytes via coordination, hydrolysis of C≡N and relatively mild concentration strategy显示文摘Currently ether solvents have been regarded as the most compatible organic solvents with lithium metal in electrolytes of lithium batteries.However,ether solvents are unstable under high voltage (>4.0 V),and prone to side reactions with nickel-rich high-voltage cathode materials.In this work,a novel dual-solvent electrolyte in ethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DME) and butyronitrile (BN) mixed solvent was designed and fabricated for Li/Li Ni_(0.5)Mn_(0.3)Co_(0.2)O_(2)-based lithium metal batteries.When charged to high voltage4.3 V,the battery cycled in this optimal electrolyte can maintain the capacity at 133.7 m Ah g^(-1) with a retention of 88.84%after 150 cycles at 0.2 C and-10℃.During long-term cycling,the battery also exhibits excellent cycling performance with capacity maintained at about 112.0 m Ah g^(-1) after 500 cycles at 1C and-10℃.BN has strong oxidation resistance and high conductivity,which can inhibit the decomposition of ether solvents under high voltage and improve the low temperature performance of battery effectively.Additionally,the cyano (–C≡N) group in BN molecular has a strong coordination ability with the high-valent metal ions and can mask the active ions on the cathode,correspondingly reducing the corrosion of cathode material by the electrolyte.Moreover,cyano group can participate in the hydrolysis to remove trace amounts of water and acidic by-products such as HF in the electrolyte.Therefore,the boosting effect of butyronitrile for ether solvents can provide a promising strategy for enhancing the performance of high voltage lithium metal batteries for practical industrialization. | Jingrong Ning Kaijia Duan Kai Wang Jianwen Liu Shiquan Wang Jiujun Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,4: | 2 |

Almost all these rocks have high TOCs, super maturities and similar biomarker distribution.
