1Pterygium in Aged Population in Doumen County, China显示文摘Purpose:To estimate the prevalence of pterygium and its influence on visual acuity in aged population of Doumen County,southern China.Methods:A population-based survey was conducted in Doumen County,the rural area of southern China,twenty-seven sample units were selected by random sampling.The prevalence and severity of pterygium and it-related low visual acuity were analyzed.Results:Of the total 4762 individuals aged 50 years or over,4214 were examined.The prevalence of pterygium was 33.01% in subjects aged 50 years or above.There was a significantly higher prevalence in female(35.70%)than in male(29.70%,P=0.025).The prevalence of pterygium in age groups of 50s,60s,70s and 80s years old is 33.98%,36.40%,30.73% and 25.40%,respectively.Most of the pterygia were located in the nasal side(93.31%)of cornea,and only 6.69% in the temporal side.0.92% of the eyes had visual acuity less than 0.32,which were directly caused by pterygia.Conclusion:The current survey suggests that the pterygium is one of the most common diseases of external eye in th population ged 50 years and above.It is still leading to the impairment of visual acuity in the rural area.Kaili Wu, Mingguang He, Jingjing Xu, Shaozhen LiZhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510060, China 2002眼科学报2002,18,3:18
2Mechanism of Kinect-based virtual reality training for motor functional recovery of upper limbs after subacute stroke显示文摘The Kinect-based virtual reality system for the Xbox 360 enables users to control and interact with the game console without the need to touch a game controller,and provides rehabilitation training for stroke patients with lower limb dysfunctions.However,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.In this study,18 healthy subjects and five patients after subacute stroke were included.The five patients were scanned using functional MRI prior to training,3 weeks after training and at a12-week follow-up,and then compared with healthy subjects.The Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Wolf Motor Function Test scores of the hemiplegic upper limbs of stroke patients were significantly increased 3 weeks after training and at the 12-week follow-up.Functional MRI results showed that contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex was activated after Kinect-based virtual reality training in the stroke patients compared with the healthy subjects.Contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex,the bilateral supplementary motor area and the ipsilateral cerebellum were also activated during hand-clenching in all 18 healthy subjects.Our findings indicate that Kinect-based virtual reality training could promote the recovery of upper limb motor function in subacute stroke patients,and brain reorganization by Kinect-based virtual reality training may be linked to the contralateral sensorimotor cortex.Xiao Bao Yurong Mao Qiang Lin Yunhai Qiu Shaozhen Chen Le Li Ryan S.Cates Shufeng Zhou Dongfeng Huang 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,31:15
3Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 4A Study of the Rhenium-Osmium Geochronometry of Molybdenites显示文摘This study deals with the first application of the isotope dilution - inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry in the rhenium-osmium geochronometry in China. The chemical separation procedure included decomposition of samples by means of alkali fusion, extraction of rhenium by acetone and extraction of osmium by distillation. The recovery of both elements in the entire process was more than 90% . The blanks of analyses were 0.07 ng for rhenium and 0.01 ng for 187Os. The mineralization ages of molybdenites from four molybdenum deposits in China were determined by using this method, with a precision (2σ)of about ±3% . These results agree satisfactorily with their geological backgrounds. The Re-Os method can directly determine ages of metal deposits and reflect the true ages more reliably than other dating methods that only determine the ages of country rocks from which mineralization ages are inferred. 5Growth Inhibition, Induction of Apoptosis by Green Tea Constituent (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate in Cultured Rabbit Lens Epithelial Cells显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate effect of green tea extract (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in cultured rabbit lens epithelial cells in order to pave a new way to postcapsular opacity (PCO) prevention.Methods: Cell survival rate was measured by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) coloimetric assay. Cell apoptosis was detected by electron microscopy, Hochest 33258 stain and flow cytometer. DNA fragment was detected using agarose gel electrophoresis.Result: Proliferation of the cultured rabbit lens epithelia cells was inhibited by EGCG in a dose and time dependent manner. Morphologic study showed that the cells became shrunk, round shaped with their nuclei condensed and broken. Apoptotic bodies were also seen under electron microscope and in Hochest 33258 stain assay 24 hours after EGCG was added to the medium. DNA ladders were shown in agarose gel eletrophoresis. 6Improving mechanical properties of age-hardenable Mg–6Zn–4Al–1Sn alloy processed by double-aging treatment显示文摘Microstructure and mechanical properties of a new high-strength Mg–6 Zn–4 Al–1 Sn alloy were investigated. Microstructure of the as-cast Mg alloy exhibited partially divorced characteristics. The dendritic structure of the Mg–6 Zn–4 Al alloy was significantly refined with the addition of 1%(in weight) Sn, but Mg2 Sn phases were not formed. In addition, an icosahedral quasi-crystal phase was formed in the as-cast Mg–6 Zn–4 Al–1 Sn alloy. It was found that after the double-aging treatment through two different heat treatments on the Mg–6 Zn–4 Al–1 Sn alloy, the precipitates were finer and far more densely dispersed in the matrix compared with single-aged counterpart, resulting in a significant improvement in tensile strength with yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation of 175 MPa, 335 MPa and 11%,respectively.Shaozhen Zhu Tianjiao Luo Yuansheng Yang 2017Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,11:6
7The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components.The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. 8The Effect of Liposome Encapsulated Daunorubicin on Rabbit Eyes after Extracapsular Lens Extraction显示文摘Purpose: To investigate the effect of liposome encapsulated daunorubicin (DNR) on rabbit eyes when it was used in prevention of posterior capsule opacification (PCO). Methods: The liposome encapsulated DNR was prepared by modified freeze-thawing method. Each eye was injected with 0. 1 ml liposomes (0. 2 mg/ml and 20 μg/ml DNR) into the capsular bag during the extracapsular lens extraction (ECLE) in 10 rabbit eyes respectively. The phosphate buffer solution (PBS) was injected as control. Besides biomicroscope observation and histology examination of all eyes, the concentration of DNR in aqueous humor was also determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).Results: The morphology of liposome encapsulated DNR were similar to the blank liposome with round or ellipse shape. The encapsulated effeciency of liposome encapsulated DNR was 45. 1%. The inflammatory response was much more severe both in 0. 2 mg/ml and 20μg/ml DNR group than the control after liposome injection. 10A novel aldo-keto reductase gene, IbAKR, from sweet potato confers higher tolerance to cadmium stress in tobacco显示文摘High concentrations of Cd can inhibit growth and reduce the activity of the photosynthetic apparatus in plants. In several plant species, aldo-keto reductases(AKRs) have been shown to enhance tolerance to various abiotic stresses by scavenging cytotoxic aldehydes;however, few AKRs have been reported to enhance Cd stress tolerance. In this study, the gene Ib AKR was isolated from sweet potato. The relative expression levels of Ib AKR increased significantly(approximately 3-fold) after exposure to 200 mmol$L–1 Cd Cl2 or 10 mmol$L–1 H2 O2. A subcellular localization assay showed that Ib AKR is predominantly located in the nucleus and cytoplasm.Ib AKR-overexpressing tobacco plants showed higher tolerance to Cd stress than wild-type(WT). Transgenic lines showed a significant ability to scavenge malondialdehyde(MDA) and methylglyoxal(MG). In addition,proline content and superoxide dismutase activity were significantly higher and H2 O2 levels were significantly lower in the transgenic plants than in the WT. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis showed that the reactive oxygen species(ROS) scavenging genes encoding guaiacol peroxidase(GPX), ascorbate peroxidase(APX), monodehydroascorbate reductase(MDHAR) and peroxidase(POD) were significantly upregulated in transgenic plants compared to WT under Cd stress. 11The Visual Deprivation and Increase in Axial Length in Patients with Cataracts显示文摘Purpose: To investigate the relationship between axial myopia and visual deprivation in patients with cataracts in their youth.Methods: Forty myopic eyes of 25 cases had long deprivation of form vision due to cataracts during their youth. The axial length was measured by A-Scan ultrasound.Results: The axial length is 2-6mm (mean: 3. 7mm) longer than the other eyes in 10 patients with unilateral cataracts. Fifteen cases with bilateral cataracts had 25-29mm of axial length (mean of the right eyes 26-8mm and the left eyes: 26. 7mm). Six cases with unilateral cataract had traumatic histotry at age from 2-9 years (mean: 5. 1 years) and the duration of visual deprivation due to cataract was from 8 to 30 years (mean; 12 years). Thirteen cases with dilateral congenital cataract had 17- 4 years(from 3 to 37 years) of visual deprivation. 12Comparative transcriptome analysis of purple-fleshed sweet potato provides insights into the molecular mechanism of anthocyanin biosynthesis显示文摘Sweet potato, Ipomoea batatas, is a globally important food crop. The purple-fleshed sweet potato, rich in anthocyanins, has great potential for both nutritional and pharmaceutical uses. In this study, we characterized the root transcriptomes of the purple-fleshed sweet potato cv.Jingshu 6 and its mutant JS6-5 with high anthocyanin content by high-throughput RNA sequencing. A total of22873364 and 27955097 high quality reads were obtained from Jingshu 6 and JS6-5, respectively, and assembled into35592 unigenes. In all, we obtained 1566 differentially expressed genes(DEGs). Among them, 994 were upregulated and 572 were downregulated in JS6-5 compared to the expression in Jingshu 6. A total of 1436 DEGs were annotated, in which 847 DEGs had gene ontology(GO) terms and 329 DEGs were assigned to 84 Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathways. Most importantly, 23 differentially expressed genes and 24 transcription factors were identified as candidate genes involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis. In addition, 2349 SSRs were detected. 13Distributed Chunk-Based Optimization for MultiCarrier Ultra-Dense Networks显示文摘In this paper,a distributed chunkbased optimization algorithm is proposed for the resource allocation in broadband ultra-dense small cell networks.Based on the proposed algorithm,the power and subcarrier allocation problems are jointly optimized.In order to make the resource allocation suitable for large scale networks,the optimization problem is decomposed first based on an effective decomposition algorithm named optimal condition decomposition(OCD) algorithm.Furthermore,aiming at reducing implementation complexity,the subcarriers are divided into chunks and are allocated chunk by chunk.The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves more superior performance than uniform power allocation scheme and Lagrange relaxation method,and then the proposed algorithm can strike a balance between the complexity and performance of the multi-carrier Ultra-Dense Networks.GUO Shaozhen XING Chengwen FEI Zesong ZHOU Gui YAN Xinge 2016China Communications2016,13,1:2
14Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 15Effect of Liposome-Encapsulated Total Alkaloid of Harmaline on Rabbit Lens Epithelial Cells:Experimental Study on the Prevention of Posterior Capsule Opacification显示文摘Purpose: To investigate whether liposome encapsulated total alkaloid of Harmaline (TAH) as a therapeutic agent is beneficial to prevention of posterior capsular opacifi-cation (PCO).Methods: Liposome-encapsulated TAH was prepared by modified freeze-thawing method. 0. 1ml of liposome-encapsulated TAH (0. 2mg/ml) was injected into the capsular bag during extracapsular lens extraction (ECLE) of each eye in total 10 rabbit eyes. Blank liposome or balance salt solution (BSS) was used as control. Slit-lamp examination and histopathological examination was used to evaluated capsule opacifica-tion. Intraocular pressure (IOP) , density and morphology of corneal endothelia cells, the amplitude and latency of b wave of ERG were measured.Results: The inflammatory response was mild both in TAH treated and the control group. 17Development of a high-density SSR genetic linkage map in sweet potato显示文摘Simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers have been proved to be a very powerful tool for quantitative trait locus(QTL) mapping, marker-assisted selection and comparative genomics research in many crop species. However, a high-density SSR genetic linkage map is still lacking because there are only a few SSR markers available in sweet potato. In this study, a total of 2545 simple sequence repeat(SSR) primer pairs, including 1215 genomic SSR(gSSR) primer pairs and 1330 BES-SSR(bSSR) primer pairs designed from the genome sequence and BAC-end sequence of sweet potato, respectively, were screened with sweet potato cultivars Luoxushu 8 and Zhengshu 20 and their randomly sampled two F1 individuals and 571 of them generated polymorphic bands. The selected 571 polymorphic SSR primer pairs and 35 EST-based SSR(eSSR) primer pairs developed at our laboratory were used to genotype 240 F1 individuals derived from a cross between Luoxushu 8 and Zhengshu 20. A double pseudo-test-cross strategy was applied for linkage analysis. The Luoxushu 8 map included 90 linkage groups with 5057 SSR markers and covered 13,299.9 cM with a marker density of 2.6 cM, and the Zhengshu 20 map contained 90 linkage groups with 3009 SSR markers and covered 11,122.9 cM with a marker density of 3.7 cM. Fifteen homologous groups were identified in both parent maps. 18Studies on Human Fetal Lens Crystallins Under Oxidative Stress and Protective Effects of Tea Polyphenols显示文摘Purpose: To investigate the oxidative modification of water-soluble crystallins of human fetal lens with H2O2 and fourteen metal ions with or without EDTA. Tea-polyphenols (TP) was added to above solutions in order to testing their antioxidative abilities. Methods: The experiments were performed at 37℃ with final concentration of 2.5mg/ml protein, 0.1 mM metal ions, 0.3 mM EDTA and 1.0 mM H2O2. Then the TP was added to the solution with CuSO4 and H2O2, after 5 or 24 hours, the crystallins were analysed with SDS-PAGE and IEF.Results : There were marked oxidative modifications of lens protein in H2O2 and copper without EDTA. In SDS-PAGE patterns, we found an increase in those species above of bands higher than 30 kD and some diffuse bands from 30 to 17 kD after 5 hours. In IEF patterns, there were a general increase on acidity with loss of the more basic species.
