| 1 | Cardioprotective mechanism of SGLT2 inhibitor against myocardial infarction is through reduction of autosis显示文摘Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2(SGLT2)inhibitors reduce cardiovascular mortality in patients with diabetes mellitus but the protective mechanism remains elusive.Here we demonstrated that the SGLT2 inhibitor,Empagliflozin(EMPA),suppresses cardiomyocytes autosis(autophagic cell death)to confer cardioprotective effects.Using myocardial infarction(Ml)mouse models with and without diabetes mellitus,EMPA treatment significantly reduced infarct size,and myocardial fibrosis,thereby leading to improved cardiac function and survival.In the context of ischemia and nutritional glucose deprivation where autosis is already highly stimulated,EMPA directly inhibits the activity of the Na^(+)/H^(+)exchanger 1(NHE1)in the cardiomyocytes to regulate excessive autophagy.Knockdown of NHE1 significantly rescued glucose deprivation-induced autosis.In contrast,overexpression of NHE1 aggravated the cardiomyocytes death in response to starvation,which was effectively rescued by EMPA treatment.Furthermore,in vitro and in vivo analysis of NHE1 and Beclin 1 knockout mice validated that EMPA s cardioprotective effects are at least in part through downregulation of autophagic flux.These findings provide new insights for drug development,specifically targeting NHE1 and autosis for ventricular remodeling and heart failure after Ml in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients. | Kai Jiang Yue Xu Dandan Wang Feng Chen Zizhuo Tu Jie Qian Sheng Xu Yixiang Xu John Hwa Jian Li Hongcai Shang Yaozu Xiang | 2022 | Protein & Cell2022,13,5: | 13 |

| 3 | In-situ cosmogenic ^(36)Cl denudation rates of carbonates in Guizhou karst area显示文摘This study quantifies surface denudation of carbonate rocks by the first application of in-situ cosmogenic36Cl in China. Concentrations of natural Cl and in-situ cosmogenic36Cl in bare carbonates from Guizhou karst areas were measured with isotope dilution by accelerator mass spectrometer. The Cl concentration varied from 16 to 206 ppm. The 36Cl concentrations were in range of (0.8-2.4)106 atom g-1 , resulting in total denudation rates of 20-50 mm ka-1 that averaged over a 104-105 a timescale. The 36Cl-denudation rates showed roughly a negative correlation with the local mean temperature. | 5 | ANGPTL2 expression in gastric cancer tissues and cells and its biological behavior显示文摘AIM To explore expression of angiopoietin-like protein 2(ANGpT L2) and its effect on biological behavior such as proliferation and invasiveness in gastric cancer. METHODS Western blotting was used to detect expression of ANGp TL2 in 60 human normal gastric tissues, 60 human gastric cancer tissues and gastric cell lines including GES-1, N87, SGC7901, BGC823 and pA MC82. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) and Transwell assay were used to detect the proliferation and invasive ability of gastric cancer cells. RESULTS Compared to normal tissues, ANGp TL2 protein levels were significantly upregulated in gastric tissues, and this level was closely correlated with gastric tumor grade, clinical stage and lymph node metastasis. Compared to GES-1 cells, ANGpT L2 mR NA and protein levels were significantly increased in gastric cancer cells including N87, SGC7901, BGC823 and p AMC82. The expression of ANGpT L2 in highly malignant gastric cancer cell lines BGC823 and pA MC82 was significantly higher than in low malignancy gastric cancer cell lines N87 and SGC7901. MTT and Transwell experiments indicated that the proliferation rate and invasive ability of stable overexpressed gastric cancer cells was faster than in cells transfected with Lv-NC and blank controlcells, and the invasive ability of stable overexpressed gastric cancer cells was higher than that of cells transfected with Lv-NC and blank control cells.CONCLUSION ANGp TL2 contributed to proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells. | 6 | The long non-coding RNA expression profile of Coxsackievirus A16 infected RD cells identified by RNA-seq显示文摘Coxsackievirus A16(CVA16) is one of major pathogens of hand, foot and mouth disease(HFMD) in children. Long non-coding RNAs(Inc RNAs) have been implicated in various biological processes,but they have not been associated with CVA16 infection. In this study, we comprehensively characterized the landscape of Inc RNAs of normal and CVA16 infected rhabdomyosarcoma(RD)cells using RNA-Seq to investigate the functional relevance of Inc RNAs. We showed that a total of 760 Inc RNAs were upregulated and 1210 Inc RNAs were downregulated. Out of these dysregulated Inc RNAs, 43.64% were intergenic, 22.31% were sense, 15.89% were intronic, 8.67% were bidirectional, 5.59% were antisense, 3.85% were s RNA host Inc RNAs and 0.05% were enhancer. Six dysregulated Inc RNAs were validated by quantitative PCR assays and the secondary structures of these Inc RNAs were projected. Moreover, we conducted a bioinformatics analysis of an Inc RNAs(ENST00000602478) to elucidate the diversity of modification and functions of Inc RNAs. In summary, the current study compared the dysregulated Inc RNAs profile upon CVA16 challenge and illustrated the intricate relationship between coding and Inc RNAs transcripts. | 7 | Epidemiology of Animal Rabies—China,2010–2020显示文摘Introduction:Rabies is a fatal zoonotic infectious disease that poses a serious threat to public health in China.Since 2005,a National Animal Rabies Surveillance System has been operating to understand the rabies situation in animals in China with a view to control and eventually eliminate dog-mediated human rabies.Methods:From 2010,the brain tissues of dogs,livestock,and wild animals showing rabies-like clinical signs were collected and tested by the National Reference Laboratory(NRL)for Animal Rabies to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of rabies,including animal species,geographic distribution,and transmission sources.Over the same period,clinically suspected animal rabies cases were collected by Animal Disease Control Centers through the National Animal Disease Monitoring Information Platform(NADMIP)and then reported in the Veterinary Bulletin.Results:During 2010–2020,170 of 212 suspected animal rabies cases were submitted to and confirmed by NRL as rabies virus-positive.Of these confirmed cases dogs,especially free-roaming and ownerless dogs in rural areas,were major transmission hosts(71/170).A total of 51 infected dogs attacked humans with 45 biting more than one person.The dog cases were reported all year round,but with significantly more in spring and summer.The majority of livestock rabies cases(70/80)being caused by rabid wild foxes in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia revealed that foxes play a pivotal role in animal rabies epizootics in the north and northwest of the country.Conclusion:Dogs were the main transmission sources of rabies in China,and along with the recent increase of rabies in foxes and other wildlife,presented an increasing threat to livestock and public health. | Ye Feng Jihong Ma Sheng Sun Lijuan Chi Zhanying Kou Changchun Tu | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,39: | 3 |
| 8 | Clinical Prediction Models for Hepatitis B Virus-related Acute-on-chronic Liver Failure:A Technical Report显示文摘Background and Aims:It is critical but challenging to predict the prognosis of hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure(HBV-ACLF).This study systematically summarized and evaluated the quality and performance of available clinical prediction models(CPMs).Methods:A keyword search of articles on HBV-ACLF CPMs published in PubMed from January 1995 to April 2020 was performed.Both the quality and performance of the CPMs were assessed.Results:Fifty-two CPMs were identified,of which 31 were HBV-ACLF specific.The modeling data were mostly derived from retrospective(83.87%)and single-center(96.77%)cohorts,with sample sizes ranging from 46 to 1,202.Three-month mortality was the most common endpoint.The Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver consensus(51.92%)and Chinese Medical Association liver failure guidelines(40.38%)were commonly used for HBV-ACLF diagnosis.Serum bilirubin(67.74%),the international normalized ratio(54.84%),and hepatic encephalopathy(51.61%)were the most frequent variables used in models.Model discrimination was commonly evaluated(88.46%),but model calibration was seldom performed.The model for end-stage liver disease score was the most widely used(84.62%);however,varying performance was reported among the studies.Conclusions:Substantial limitations lie in the quality of HBV-ACLF-specific CPMs.Disease severity of study populations may impact model performance.The clinical utility of CPMs in predicting short-term prognosis of HBV-ACLF remains to be undefined. | Xia Yu Yi Lu Shanshan Sun Huilan Tu Xianbin Xu Kai Gong Junjie Yao Yu Shi Jifang Sheng | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,6: | 3 |
| 9 | Micro RNA-21 promotes phosphatase gene and protein kinase B/phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase expression in colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM: To explore the regulatory mechanism of the target gene of micro RNA-21(mi R-21), phosphatase gene(p TEN), and its downstream proteins, protein kinase B(AKT) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(p I3K), in colorectal cancer(CRC) cells. METHODS: Quantitative real-time p CR(q RT-p CR) and Western blot were used to detect the expression levels of mi R-21 and p TEN in HCT116, HT29, Colo32 and SW480 CRC cell lines. Also, the expression levels of p TEN m RNA and its downstream proteins AKT and p I3 K in HCT116 cells after downregulating mi R-21 were investigated. RESULTS: Comparing the mi R-21 expression in CRC cells, the expression levels of mi R-21 were highest in HCT116 cells, and the expression levels of mi R-21 were lowest in SW480 cells. In comparing mi R-21 and p TEN expression in CRC cells, we found that the protein expression levels of mi R-21 and p TEN were inversely correlated(p < 0.05); when mi R-21 expression was reduced, m RNA expression levels of p TEN did not significantly change(p > 0.05), but the expression levels of its protein significantly increased(p < 0.05). In comparing the levels of p TEN protein and downstream AKT and p I3 K in HCT116 cells after downregulation of mi R-21 expression, the levels of AKT and p I3 K protein expression significantly decreased(p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: p TEN is one of the direct target genesof mi R-21. | 10 | Energy-limiting factor for coal and gas outburst occurrence in intact coal seam显示文摘This research reviewed the mechanics and gas desorption properties of intact coal,and tested the crushing work ratios of different intact coals,and then,studied the stress conditions for the failure or crushing of intact coal and the gas demand for the pulverization of intact coal particles.When a real-life outburst case is examined,the required minimum stress for intact coal outburst is estimated.The study concludes that the crushing work ratios of three intact coal samples vary from 294.3732 to 945.8048 J/m^(2).For the real-life case,more than 2300 MJ of transport work is needed,and 10062.09,7046.57 and 5895.47 m^(3) of gas is required when the gas pressure is 1,2 and 3 MPa,respectively.The crushing work exceeds the transport work and even reaches 13.96 times of the transport work.How to provide such an enormous crushing work is an energy-limiting factor for the outburst in intact coal.The strain energy is needed for the crushing work,and the required minimum stress is over 54.35 MPa,even reaching 300.44 MPa.These minimum stresses far exceed the in-situ vertical and horizontal stresses that can be provided at the 300–700 m mining depth range. | Qingyi Tu Yuanping Cheng Sheng Xue Ting Ren Xiang Cheng | 2021 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,4: | 2 |

| 12 | Boosting High-Rate Zinc-Storage Performance by the Rational Design of Mn_(2)O_(3) Nanoporous Architecture Cathode显示文摘Manganese oxides are regarded as one of the most promising cathode materials in rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion batteries(ZIBs)because of the low price and high security.However,the practical application of Mn2O3 in ZIBs is still plagued by the low specific capacity and poor rate capability.Herein,highly crystalline Mn2O3 materials with interconnected mesostructures and controllable pore sizes are obtained via a ligand-assisted self-assembly process and used as high-performance electrode materials for reversible aqueous ZIBs.The coordination degree between Mn2+and citric acid ligand plays a crucial role in the formation of the mesostructure,and the pore sizes can be easily tuned from 3.2 to 7.3 nm.Ascribed to the unique feature of nanoporous architectures,excellent zinc-storage performance can be achieved in ZIBs during charge/discharge processes.The Mn2O3 electrode exhibits high reversible capacity(233 mAh g−1 at 0.3 A g−1),superior rate capability(162 mAh g−1 retains at 3.08 A g−1)and remarkable cycling durability over 3000 cycles at a high current rate of 3.08 A g−1.Moreover,the corresponding electrode reaction mechanism is studied in depth according to a series of analytical methods.These results suggest that rational design of the nanoporous architecture for electrode materials can effectively improve the battery performance. | Danyang Feng Tu‑Nan Gao Ling Zhang Bingkun Guo Shuyan Song Zhen‑An Qiao Sheng Dai | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1: | 2 |
| 13 | The long-term denudation rate of granitic regolith in Qinhuangdao, North China determined from the in situ depth profile of the cosmogenic nuclides ^(26)Al and ^(10)Be显示文摘This study quantifies the surface denudation rate of granitic regolith via the application of the in situ cosmogenic26 Al and10Be depth profile in China. The concentration ranges of26 Al and10Be in the quartz along the*3-m granitic regolith profile in Qinhuangdao are(4.9–23.1) 9 105and(2.3–36.6) 9 104atoms/g, respectively. With the exception of the surface sample, both26 Al and10Be concentrations decrease exponentially with sample depth. The Chi-square best-fitting results revealed a total denudation rate of *9 m/Ma averaged over a 103–105a timescale, which is lower than the values observed in global granitic outcrops. | 14 | Asymmetrical free diffusion with orientation-dependence of molecules in finite timescales显示文摘Using molecular dynamics simulations, we show that free diffusion of a nanoscale particle (molecule) with asymmetric structure critically depends on the orientation in a finite timescale of picoseconds to nanoseconds. In a timescale of ~100 ps, there are ~10% more possibilities for the particle moving along the initial orientation than moving opposite to the orientation; and the diffusion distances of the particle reach ~1 nm. We find that the key to this observation is the orientation-dependence of the damping force to the moving of the nanoscale particle and a finite time is required to regulate the particle orientation.
