| 1 | A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. | 2 | A Survey of Bitmap Index Compression Algorithms for Big Data显示文摘With the growing popularity of Internet applications and the widespread use of mobile Internet, Internet traffic has maintained rapid growth over the past two decades. Internet Traffic Archival Systems(ITAS) for packets or flow records have become more and more widely used in network monitoring, network troubleshooting, and user behavior and experience analysis. Among the three key technologies in ITAS, we focus on bitmap index compression algorithm and give a detailed survey in this paper. The current state-of-the-art bitmap index encoding schemes include: BBC, WAH, PLWAH, EWAH, PWAH, CONCISE, COMPAX, VLC, DF-WAH, and VAL-WAH. Based on differences in segmentation, chunking, merge compress, and Near Identical(NI) features, we provide a thorough categorization of the state-of-the-art bitmap index compression algorithms. We also propose some new bitmap index encoding algorithms, such as SECOMPAX, ICX, MASC, and PLWAH+, and present the state diagrams for their encoding algorithms. We then evaluate their CPU and GPU implementations with a real Internet trace from CAIDA. Finally, we summarize and discuss the future direction of bitmap index compression algorithms. | 3 | The Upstream "Strong Signals" of the Water Vapor Transport over the Tibetan Plateau during a Heavy Rainfall Event in the Yangtze River Basin显示文摘A heavy rainfall event that occurred over the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin(YRB) during July11–13 2000 is explored in this study. The potential/stream function is used to analyze the upstream 'strong signals' of the water vapor transport in the Tibetan Plateau(TP). The studied time period covers from 2000 LST 5 July to 2000 LST 15 July(temporal resolution: 6 hours). By analyzing the three-dimensional structure of the water vapor flux, vorticity and divergence prior to and during the heavy rainfall event, the upstream 'strong signals' related to this heavy rainfall event are revealed. A strong correlation exists between the heavy rainfall event in the YRB and the convective clouds over the TP. The 'convergence zone' of the water vapor transport is also identified, based on correlation analysis of the water vapor flux two days and one day prior to, and on the day of, the heavy rainfall. And this 'convergence zone' coincides with the migration of the maximum rainfall over the YRB. This specific coupled structure actually plays a key role in generating heavy rainfall over the YRB. The eastward movement of the coupled system with a divergence/convergence center of the potential function at the upper/lower level resembles the spatiotemporal evolution of the heavy rainfall event over the YRB. | 8 | Online search for UAV relay placement for free-space optical communication under shadowing显示文摘Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)relaying is promising to overcome the challenge of signal blockage in free-space optical(FSO)communications for users in dense urban area.Existing works on UAV relay placement are mostly based on simplified line-of-sight(LOS)channel models or probabilistic channel models,and thus fail to capture the actual LOS status of the optical communication link.By contrast,this paper studies three-dimensional(3D)online placement for a UAV to construct relay links to two ground users in deep shadow with LOS guarantees.By analyzing the properties of the UAV relay placement problem,it is found that searching on a plane that approximates the equipotential surface can achieve a good performance and complexity trade-off for a good placement of the UAV relay in 3D.Based on these insights,a two-stage online search algorithm on an equipotential plane(TOSEP)is developed for a special case where the equipotential surface turns out to be an equipotential plane.For the general case,a strategy called gradient projected online search algorithm on an approximated equipotential plane(GOSAEP)is developed,which approximates the equipotential surface with a perpendicular plane using the gradient projection method.Numerical experiments are conducted over a real-world city topology,and it is shown that the GOSAEP achieves over 95%of the performance of the exhaustive 3D search scheme within a 300-m search length. | Yuanshuai Zheng Yinjun Wang Junting Chen | 2023 | Intelligent and Converged Networks2023,4,1: | 0 |

| 11 | DDUC:an erasure-coded system with decoupled data updating and coding显示文摘In distributed storage systems,replication and erasure code(EC)are common methods for data redundancy.Compared with replication,EC has better storage efficiency,but suffers higher overhead in update.Moreover,consistency and reliability problems caused by concurrent updates bring new challenges to applications of EC.Many works focus on optimizing the EC solution,including algorithm optimization,novel data update method,and so on,but lack the solutions for consistency and reliability problems.In this paper,we introduce a storage system that decouples data updating and EC encoding,namely,decoupled data updating and coding(DDUC),and propose a data placement policy that combines replication and parity blocks.For the(N,M)EC system,the data are placed as N groups of M+1 replicas,and redundant data blocks of the same stripe are placed in the parity nodes,so that the parity nodes can autonomously perform local EC encoding.Based on the above policy,a two-phase data update method is implemented in which data are updated in replica mode in phase 1,and the EC encoding is done independently by parity nodes in phase 2.This solves the problem of data reliability degradation caused by concurrent updates while ensuring high concurrency performance.It also uses persistent memory(PMem)hardware features of the byte addressing and eight-byte atomic write to implement a lightweight logging mechanism that improves performance while ensuring data consistency.Experimental results show that the concurrent access performance of the proposed storage system is 1.70–3.73 times that of the state-of-the-art storage system Ceph,and the latency is only 3.4%–5.9%that of Ceph. | Yaofeng TU Rong XIAO Yinjun HAN Zhenghua CHEN Hao JIN Xuecheng QI Xinyuan SUN | 2023 | Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2023,24,5: | 0 |

| 17 | Restoration of reservoir diagenesis and hydrocarbon accumulation process by calcite in-situ U-Pb dating and fluid inclusion analysis: A case study on Cretaceous Qingshuihe Formation in Gaoquan Structure, southern Junggar Basin, NW China显示文摘The complexity of diagenesis and hydrocarbon accumulation in the deep reservoirs in southern Junggar Basin restricts hydrocarbon exploration in the lower reservoir assemblage. The lithofacies and diagenesis of reservoirs in the Cretaceous Qingshuihe Formation in the Gaoquan structure of the Sikeshu Sag, southern Junggar Basin were analyzed. On this basis, the thermal history was calibrated using calcite in-situ U-Pb dating and fluid inclusion analysis to depict the hydrocarbon accumulation process in the Gaoquan structure. The results show that the Qingshuihe reservoir experienced two phases of calcite cementation and three phases of hydrocarbon charging. The calcite cements are dated to be (122.1±6.4) Ma, (14.4±1.0) Ma - (14.2±0.3) Ma. The hydrocarbon charging events occurred at around 14.2-30.0 Ma (low-mature oil), 14.2 Ma (mature oil), and 2 Ma (high-mature gas). The latter two phases of hydrocarbon charging contributed dominantly to the formation of reservoir. Due to the S-N compressive thrust activity during the late Himalayan period since 2 Ma, the traps in the Gaoquan structure were reshaped, especially the effective traps which developed in the main reservoir-forming period were decreased significantly in scale, resulting in weak hydrocarbon shows in the middle-lower part of the structure. This indicates that the effective traps in key reservoir-forming period controlled hydrocarbon enrichment and distribution in the lower reservoir assemblage.
