| 2 | Manipulating cavity photon dynamics by topologically curved space显示文摘Asymmetric microcavities supporting Whispering-gallery modes(WGMs)are of great significance for on-chip optical information processing.We establish asymmetric microcavities on topologically curved surfaces,where the geodesic light trajectories completely reconstruct the cavity mode features.The curvature-mediated photon-lifetime engineering enables the enhancement of the quality factors of periodic island modes by up to 200 times.Strong and weak coupling between modes of very different origins occurs when the space curvature brings them into resonance,leading to fine tailoring of the cavity photon energy and lifetime and the observation of non-Hermitian exceptional point(EP).At large space curvatures,the role of the WGMs is replaced by high-Q periodic modes protected by the high stability of island-like light trajectory.Our work demonstrates interesting physical mechanisms at the crosspoint of optical chaotic dynamics,non-Hermitian physics,and geodesic optical devices,and would initiate the novel area of geodesic microcavity photonics. | Yongsheng Wang Yuhao Ren Xiaoxuan Luo Bo Li Zaoyu Chen Zhenzhi Liu Fu Liu Yin Cai Yanpeng Zhang Jin Liu Feng Li | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,11: | 1 |
| 3 | Influence of residual chirality on the conformation and enzymatic degradation of glycopolypeptide based biomaterials显示文摘Glycopolypeptides as analogs of glycoproteins or glycosaminoglycans represent attractive building blocks for the construction of biomimetic biomaterials.However,the effects of amino acid chirality on the conformation and enzymatic degradation of glycopolypeptides are often overlooked.Here,we synthesized and characterized a range of glycopolypeptides composed of galactosylated poly(γ-propargylglutamate)s containing L-and/or D-glutamate residues.Glycopolypeptides containing pure Lglutamate residues were predominantlyα-helical,and the helicity increased over the degree of polymerization of the polypeptide backbones(24 to 44).The glycopolypeptide with pure D-glutamate residues adopted a mirroredα-helical conformation,whilst apparent random coil conformation was observed for the glycopolypeptide with equally mixed enantiomeric residues.The enzymatic degradation rates of the glycopolypeptides were markedly reduced following the introduction of D-glutamate residues into backbones.Galactoside pendants on these glycopolypeptides maintained their binding to peanut agglutinin.These structureproperty relationships provide new insight for the design of biomimetic biomaterials containing glycopolypeptides. | SHI Shun WANG JiaYu WANG TianRan REN Hui ZHOU YuHao LI Gao HE ChaoLiang CHEN XueSi | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,3: | 1 |

| 10 | Multistage defense response of microalgae exposed to pharmaceuticals in wastewater显示文摘Recently, the use of microalgae for bioremediation of pharmaceuticals(Ph As) has attracted increasing interest. However, most studies focused more on microalgae removal performance, its defensive response to the Ph As during wastewater treatment remains unexplored. Herein, microalgal three defensive systems have been investigated in synthetic wastewater, with six Ph As as the typical drug. Results show that Ph As could bind to EPS, and this action in turn could help to alleviate the direct toxicity of Ph As to microalgae. Subsequently, the physiological analyses revealed the increase of superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), and peroxidase(POD) activities, potentially reducing the oxidative stress induced by Ph As. Furthermore, the enzyme activities of cytochrome P450(CYP450) and glutathione-S-transferase(GST) were significantly upregulated after exposure to SMX, CIP and BPA, followed by a significant decrease in biodegradation rates after the addition of CYP450 inhibitors, suggesting that the biotransformation and detoxification of Ph As occurred. Meanwhile, molecular docking further revealed that CYP450 could bind with Ph As via hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interaction, which proved their abilities to be metabolized and form transformation products in microalgae.
