1Methane emissions during storage of different treatments from cattle manure in Tianjin显示文摘Many studies on methane emissions from animal manure have revealed that animal manure is a major source of methane emissions to the atmosphere that can have negative consequences for people,animals and environment.In general,the release of methane can be influenced by the type of feed taken by animals,temperature,manure characteristics and so on.This study aimed at quantifying and comparing methane release from dairy manure with different piling treatments.Four treatments were designed including manure piling height 30,45,60 cm and adding 6 cm manure every day until the piling height was 60 cm.Static chamber method and gas chromatography were adopted to measure the methane emissions from April to June in 2009.Methane emission rates of all four manure treatments were low in the first week and then increased sharply until reaching the peak values.Subsequently,all the methane emission rates decreased and fluctuated within the steady range till the end of the experiment.Wilcoxon nonparametric tests analysis indicated that methane emission rate was greatly influenced by manure piling height and manner.There were no significant relationships between methane emission rates and the temperatures of ambience and heap.However,regression analysis showed that the quadratic equations were found between emission rates of all treatments and the gas temperature in the barrels.Jiajun Wang Chiqing Duan Yaqin Ji Yichao Sun 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,10:10
2Compound Danshen tablets downregulate amyloid protein precursor mRNA expression in a transgenic cell model of Alzheimer's disease Effects and a comparison with donepezil显示文摘After gene mutation, the pcDNA3.1/APP595/596 plasmid was transfected into HEK293 cells to establish a cell model of Alzheimer's disease. The cell model was treated with donepezil or compound Danshen tablets after culture for 72 hours. Reverse transcription-PCR showed that the mRNA expression of amyloid protein precursor decreased in all groups following culture for 24 hours, and that there was no significant difference in the amount of decrease between donepezil and compound Danshen tablets. 3Whole-Process Pollution Control for Cost-Effective and Cleaner Chemical Production A Case Study of the Tungsten Industry in China显示文摘In this research,a methodology named whole-process pollution control(WPPC)is demonstrated that improves the effectiveness of process optimization.This methodology considers waste/emission treatment as a step of the whole production process with respect to the minimization of cost and environmental impact for the whole process.The following procedures are introduced in a WPPC process optimization:①a material and energy flow investigation and optimization based on a systematic understanding of the distribution and physiochemical properties of potential pollutants;②a process optimization to increase the utilization efficiency of different elements and minimize pollutant emissions;and③an evaluation to reveal the effectiveness of the optimization strategies.The production of ammonium paratungstate was chosen for the case study.Two factors of the different optimization schemes-namely the cost-effectiveness factor and the environmental impact indicator-were evaluated and compared.This research demonstrates that by considering the nature of potential pollutants,technological innovations,economic viability,environmental impacts,and regulation requirements,WPPC can efficiently optimize a metal production process.Hongbin Cao He Zhao Di Zhang Chenming Liu Xiao Lin Yuping Li Pengge Ning Jiajun Sun Yi Zhang Zhi Sun 2019Engineering2019,5,4:7

6Nanosecond pulsed laser-assisted modified copper surface structure:Enhanced surface microhardness and microbial corrosion resistance显示文摘Microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) is an unavoidable problem in several industries. Copper(Cu)and its alloys are widely used engineering materials. However, MIC of Cu remains a persistent challenge to their performance and functional lifetime under aggressive environments. This study investigated nanosecond pulsed laser processing(LP), which may enhance the corrosion resistance of Cu. The microstructural evolution and corrosion behavior of LP-Cu in the presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB) were evaluated. Typical deformation-induced microstructural features of high-density dislocations were analyzed on the top surface of LP-Cu coupon. Electrochemical measurements suggested that LP-Cu coupons exhibited better corrosion resistance in SRB-inoculated solution compared with their original counterpart. The enhanced corrosion resistance by LP primarily resulted from the combined influences of compressive residual stress and work hardening in the surface. However, overlap percentage played a key role in improving corrosion resistance. LP produced optimal corrosion resistance at 50% overlap. 7In vivo evaluation of additively manufacturedmulti-layered scaffold for the repair of large osteochondral defects显示文摘The repair of osteochondral defects is one of the major clinical challenges in orthopaedics.Well-established osteochondral tissue engineering methods have shown promising results for the early treatment of small defects.However,less success has been achieved for the regeneration of large defects,which is mainly due to the mechanical environment of the joint and the heterogeneous nature of the tissue.In this study,we developed a multi-layered osteochondral scaffold to match the heterogeneous nature of osteochondral tissue by harnessing additive manufacturing technologies and combining the established art laser sintering and material extrusion techniques.The developed scaffold is based on a titanium and polylactic acid matrix-reinforced collagen“sandwich”composite system.The microstructure and mechanical properties of the scaffold were examined,and its safety and efficacy in the repair of large osteochondral defects were tested in an ovine condyle model.The 12-week in vivo evaluation period revealed extensive and significantly higher bone in-growth in the multi-layered scaffold compared with the collagen–HAp scaffold,and the achieved stable mechanical fixation provided strong support to the healing of the overlying cartilage,as demonstrated by hyaline-like cartilage formation.The histological examination showed that the regenerated cartilage in the multi-layer scaffold group was superior to that formed in the control group.Chondrogenic genes such as aggrecan and collagen-II were upregulated in the scaffold and were higher than those in the control group.The findings showed the safety and efficacy of the cell-free“translation-ready”osteochondral scaffold,which has the potential to be used in a one-step surgical procedure for the treatment of large osteochondral defects.Maryam Tamaddon Gordon Blunn Rongwei Tan Pan Yang Xiaodan Sun Shen-Mao Chen Jiajun Luo Ziyu Liu Ling Wang Dichen Li Ricardo Donate Mario Monzón Chaozong Liu 2022Bio-Design and Manufacturing2022,5,3:2

11Crosslinking and functionalization of acellular patches via the self-assembly of copper@tea polyphenol nanoparticles显示文摘Decellularization is a promising technique to produce natural scaffolds for tissue engineering applications.However,non-crosslinked natural scaffolds disfavor application in cardiovascular surgery due to poor biomechanics and rapid degradation.Herein,we proposed a green strategy to crosslink and functionalize acellular scaffolds via the self-assembly of copper@tea polyphenol nanoparticles(Cu@TP NPs),and the resultant nanocomposite acellular scaffolds were named as Cu@TP-dBPs.The crosslinking degree,biomechanics,denaturation temperature and resistance to enzymatic degradation of Cu@TP-dBPs were comparable to those of glutaraldehyde crosslinked decellularized bovine pericardias(Glut-dBPs).Furthermore,Cu@TP-dBPs were biocompatible and had abilities to inhibit bacterial growth and promote the formation of capillary-like networks.Subcutaneous implantation models demonstrated that Cu@TP-dBPs were free of calcification and allowed for host cell infiltration at Day 21.Cardiac patch graft models confirmed that Cu@TP-dBP patches showed improved ingrowth of functional blood vessels and remodeling of extracellular matrix at Day 60.These results suggested that Cu@TP-dBPs not only had comparable biomechanics and biostability to Glut-dBPs,but also had several advantages over Glut-dBPs in terms of anticalcification,remodeling and integration capabilities.Particularly,they were functional patches possessing antibacterial and proangiogenic activities.Thesematerial properties and biological functionsmade Cu@TP-dBPs a promising functional acellular patch for cardiovascular applications.Qin Li Yuan Gao Jiajun Zhang Yangfeng Tang Yangyong Sun Lujia Wu Hao Wu Meifang Shen Xiaohong Liu Lin Han Zhiyun Xu 2022Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1:1
12Optimization of hot air drying process for tiger nut and analysis of fatty acid composition of tiger nut oil显示文摘Hot air temperature,hot air humidity,and hot wind speed were selected as independent variables of quadratic orthogonal rotation combination test design through single factor test.Drying time,energy consumption,chromatism value,luminosity value,hardness,rehydration ratio,and other indexes of the product were used as the response value of the test.Response surface methodology(RSM)was used to analyze the effects of independent variables on the quality of tiger nut(Cyperus esculentus L.),and the process parameters were combined and optimized.The results show that the suitable technological conditions for hot air drying of tiger nut are as follows:hot air temperature of 63.15°C,hot air humidity of 44.92%,hot air wind speed of 2.48 m/s.Under these conditions,the product has the advantages of the short drying cycle,low energy consumption,good color and luster,low hardness and good rehydration performance.The fatty acid composition and content of tiger nut oil were determined by gas chromatography.The fatty acid composition and content of tiger nut oil were compared with those of soybean oil,olive oil,rapeseed oil and sesame oil,the results show that among the saturated fatty acids in tiger nut oil,palm oil had the highest content of 11.172%,which was between soybean oil and olive oil.The main composition of unsaturated fatty acids in tiger nut oil is oleic acid,with a content of 77.605%,which is 3.6 times higher than that of soybean oil,and even higher than that of olive oil.He Li Xiaoxiao Niu Jiajun Chai Changle Guo Yihao Sun Jianhua Li Chunying Li 2021International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,6:1
13Facile synthesis of two-dimensional MoS_(2)/WS_(2) lateral heterostructures with controllable core/shell size ratio by a one-step chemical vapor deposition method显示文摘Heterostructures based on two-dimensional(2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs) possess unique electronic and optical properties, which open up unprecedented opportunities in nanoscale optoelectronic devices. Synthesizing high-quality 2D TMDC heterostructures with different core/shell size ratios is of great significance for practical applications. Here, we report a simple one-step chemical vapor deposition(CVD) method for fabricating MoS2/WS2 lateral heterostructures with controllable core/shell size ratio. An ultrathin MoO3/WO3 film prepared by thermal evaporation was used as the precursor, and a step-like heating process was adopted to separately grow MoS2 and WS2 monolayers by taking advantage of the different melting points of MoO3 and WO3 sources. High-quality MoS2/WS2 lateral heterostructures with sharp interfaces were fabricated by optimizing the key growth parameters. Furthermore, the core/shell size ratio of heterostructures could be easily controlled by changing the thickness ratio of MoO3/WO3 film, and an approximately linear dependence between them is revealed. Compared with MoS2 or WS2 monolayers, the MoS2/WS2 heterostructure exhibited a shortened exciton lifetime owing to the type-Ⅱ energy band alignment, which is conducive to the application of high-performance devices. 20Enhanced nitrogen removal upon the addition of volatile fatty acids from activated sludge by combining calcium peroxide and low-thermal pretreatments显示文摘This study investigated a combined low-thermal and CaO_(2)pretreatment to enhance the volatile fatty acid(VFA)production from waste activated sludge(WAS).The fermentative product was added to a sequencing batch reactor(SBR)as an external carbon source to enhance nitrogen removal.The results showed that the combined pretreatment improved WAS solubilization,releasing more biodegradable substrates,such as proteins and polysaccharides,from TB-EPS to LB-EPS and S-EPS.The maximum VFA production of 3529±188 mg COD/L was obtained in the combined pretreatment(0.2 g CaO_(2)/g VS+70℃for 60 min),which was 2.1 and 1.4-fold of that obtained from the sole low-thermal pretreatment and the control test,respectively.Consequently,when the fermentative liquid was added as an external denitrification carbon source,the effluent total nitrogen decreased to Class A of the discharge standard for pollutants in rural wastewater treatment plants in most areas of China.Jiajun Sun Junxue Song Wei Fang Hongbin Cao 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,10:1
