| 3 | Recent progress in Co-based metal-organic framework derivatives for advanced batteries显示文摘To date,Co-based metal-organic frameworks(Co-MOFs)have drawn much attention owing to their advantages of easy preparation,high porosity and adjustable structure.Because of these enticing properties,numerous efforts have been devoted to their applications in energy storage and conversion.However,poor conductivity has become one of the biggest obstacles for large-scale use of pristine Co-MOFs.Subsequently,many attempts have been carried out to develop various Co-MOF derived materials as electrodes for rechargeable batteries in order to address the above-mentioned shortcoming and to enhance the electrical conductivity with improved stability during cycling.Moreover,in addition to improvement of Li-ion batteries in practical utilization,seeking for other rechargeable batteries is another urgent task due to the high cost and limited sources of metallic Li.Herein,by following the recent research progress,this review provides an overview of applications of Co-MOF derived materials in various rechargeable batteries including lithium-ion batteries,sodium-ion batteries,lithium-sulfur batteries,zinc air batteries and other rechargeable batteries,where they have been utilized as cathodes,anodes,separators and electrocatalysts.Accordingly,we categorize and compare the morphology driven electrochemical performance of various Co-MOF derivatives including porous carbon,cobalt oxides,cobalt chalcogenides,cobalt phosphides and corresponding composites.Finally,current challenges for large-scale production and commercialization of Co-MOF derived materials as well as some reasonable solutions have been discussed at the end. | Jianen Zhou Qingyun Yang Qiongyi Xie Hong Ou Xiaoming Lin Akif Zeb Lei Hu Yongbo Wu Guozheng Ma | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,1: | 2 |

| 5 | WIP1 promotes cancer stem cell properties by inhibiting p38 MAPK in NSCLC显示文摘Cancer stem cells(CSCs)are a small population of stem cell-like cancer cells that can initiate tumors in vivo,and are the major source of cancer initiation,relapse,and drug resistance.We previously reported that the p38 MAPK,through its downstream effectors MK2 and HSP27,suppressed CSC properties by downregulating the expression of transcription factors that mediate stemness in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)cells,and that despite unaltered total expression of total p38 proteins,the levels of activated p38 were reduced in NSCLC tissues.However,the mechanism underlying the reduced levels of activated p38 in NSCLC is unknown.In this study,we identified WIP1,a p38 phosphatase frequently overexpressed in cancer,as a suppressor of p38 in a pathway that regulates CSC properties in NSCLC.Increased WIP1 expression correlated with reduced levels of activated p38,and with increased levels of a CSC marker in NSCLC tissues.Further investigation revealed that WIP1 promoted stemness-related protein expression and CSC properties by inhibiting p38 activity in NSCLC cells.WIP1 inhibitors are currently under development as anticancer drugs based on their ability to reactivate p53.We found that a WIP1 inhibitor suppressed stemness-related protein expression and CSC properties by activating p38 in NSCLC cells in vitro and in vivo.These studies have identified the WIP1–p38–MK2–HSP27 cascade as a novel signaling pathway that,when altered,promotes CSC properties in NSCLC development,and have defined novel mechanisms underlying the oncogenic activity of WIP1 and the anticancer efficacy of WIP1 inhibitors. | Kaiyuan Deng Liang Liu Xiaoming Tan Zhen Zhang Jianjun Li Yang Ou Xin Wang Shuang Yang Rong Xiang Peiqing Sun | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 1 |

[Methods] The acute toxicity tests of prochloraz-manganese chloride complex on 8 common environmental organisms, such as Coturnix coturnix japonica, Apis mellifera L., Eisenia foetida, Bombyx mori, Trichogramma japonicum, Brachydanio rerio, Daphnia magna Straus and Scenedesmus obliquus were carried out. | 10 | Rock inhibitor may compromise human induced pluripotent stem cells for cardiac differentiation in 3D显示文摘Cardiomyocytes differentiated from human induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)are valuable for the understanding/treatment of the deadly heart diseases and their drug screening.However,the very much needed homogeneous 3D cardiac differentiation of human iPSCs is still challenging.Here,it is discovered surprisingly that Rock inhibitor(RI),used ubiquitously to improve the survival/yield of human iPSCs,induces early gastrulation-like change to human iPSCs in 3D culture and may cause their heterogeneous differentiation into all the three germ layers(i.e.,ectoderm,mesoderm,and endoderm)at the commonly used concentration(10μM).This greatly compromises the capacity of human iPSCs for homogeneous 3D cardiac differentiation.By reducing the RI to 1μM for 3D culture,the human iPSCs retain high pluripotency/quality in inner cell mass-like solid 3D spheroids.Consequently,the beating efficiency of 3D cardiac differentiation can be improved to more than 95%in~7 days(compared to less than~50%in 14 days for the 10μM RI condition).Furthermore,the outset beating time(OBT)of all resultant cardiac spheroids(CSs)is synchronized within only 1 day and they form a synchronously beating 3D construct after 5-day culture in gelatin methacrylol(GelMA)hydrogel,showing high homogeneity(in terms of the OBT)in functional maturity of the CSs.Moreover,the resultant cardiomyocytes are of high quality with key functional ultrastructures and highly responsive to cardiac drugs.These discoveries may greatly facilitate the utilization of human iPSCs for understanding and treating heart diseases. | Bin Jiang Wenquan Ou James G.Shamul Hao Chen Sarah Van Belleghem Samantha Stewart Zhenguo Liu John P.Fisher Xiaoming He | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,3: | 0 |
| 11 | Determination of Fosthiazate Residue in Ginger by Gas Chromatography显示文摘[Objectives] An analytical method was established for determining fosthiazate residue in ginger by gas chromatography with flame photometric detector(GC-NPD) to evaluate the safety of fosthiazate in ginger. [Methods] The fosthiazate residue in ginger was extracted with dichloromethane, and subjected to sodium chloride salt-out and liquid-liquid extraction with hexane and dichloromethane(the plant and soil samples had no need for the later two steps). The analysis was performed on gas chromatograph equipped with a flame photometric detector(GC-FPD), and the fosthiazate residue was quantitatively determined by calculating the peak area. [Results] The results of degradation dynamics showed that the half-life of fosthiazate was 7.2-8.7 d in ginger plants, and was 9.9-19.8 d in the soil. The results of the final residue test showed that after applying the fosthiazate granules according to the recommended high dose(active component 58.2 g a.i/m^2,WK) and low dose(38.8 g a.i/m^2,WK) once, the final residual amounts of fosthiazate in the ginger and soil were estimated to be <0.02 mg/kg and <0.02-0.103 mg/kg, respectively, while no fosthiazate residue was detected in all control samples(<0.02 mg/kg). The maximum residue limit(MRL) of fosthiazate in ginger was not established in China, and was 0.2 mg/kg in Japan. [Conclusions] The method was proved to meet the basic requirements of pesticide residue analysis on sensitivity, accuracy and precision and have good linearity. | 12 | Noncovalent reversible binding-enabled facile fabrication of leak-free PDMS microfluidic devices without plasma treatment for convenient cell loading and retrieval显示文摘The conventional approach for fabricating polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)microfluidic devices is a lengthy and inconvenient procedure and may require a clean-room microfabrication facility often not readily available.Furthermore,living cells can’t survive the oxygen-plasma and high-temperature-baking treatments required for covalent bonding to assemble multiple PDMS parts into a leak-free device,and it is difficult to disassemble the devices because of the irreversible covalent bonding.As a result,seeding/loading cells into and retrieving cells from the devices are challenging.Here,we discovered that decreasing the curing agent for crosslinking the PDMS prepolymer increases the noncovalent binding energy of the resultant PDMS surfaces without plasma or any other treatment.This enables convenient fabrication of leak-free microfluidic devices by noncovalent binding for various biomedical applications that require high pressure/flow rates and/or long-term cell culture,by simply hand-pressing the PDMS parts without plasma or any other treatment to bind/assemble.With this method,multiple types of cells can be conveniently loaded into specific areas of the PDMS parts before assembly and due to the reversible nature of the noncovalent bonding,the assembled device can be easily disassembled by hand peeling for retrieving cells.Combining with 3D printers that are widely available for making masters to eliminate the need of photolithography,this facile yet rigorous fabrication approach is much faster and more convenient for making PDMS microfluidic devices than the conventional oxygen plasma-baking-based irreversible covalent bonding method. | Bin Jiang Alisa White Wenquan Ou Sarah Van Belleghem Samantha Stewart James G.Shamul Shaik O.Rahaman John P.Fisher Xiaoming He | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,10: | 0 |
| 13 | A versatile strategy to activate self-sacrificial templated Li_(2)MnO_(3) by defect engineering toward advanced lithium storage显示文摘Despite the dazzling theoretical capacity,the devasting electrochemical activity of Li_(2)MnO_(3)(LMO)caused by the difficult oxidation of Mn4+impedes its practical application as the lithium-ion battery(LIB)cathode.The efficacious activation of the Li_(2)MnO_(3) by importing electrochemically active Mn3+ions or morphological engineering is instrumental to its lithium storage activity and structural integrity upon cycling.Herein,we propose a conceptual strategy with metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)as self-sacrificial templates to prepare oxygen-deficient Li_(2)MnO_(3)(O_v-LMO)for exalted lithium storage performance.Attributed to optimized morphological features,LMO materials derived from Mn-BDC(H_(2)BDC=1,4-dicarboxybenzene)delivered superior cycling/rate performances compared with their counterparts derived from Mn-BTC(H_(3)BTC=1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylicacid)and Mn-PTC(H_(4)PTC=pyromellitic acid).Both experimental and theoretical studies elucidate the efficacious activation of primitive LMO materials toward advanced lithium storage by importing oxygen deficiencies.Impressively,O_v-LMO derived from Mn-BDC(O_v-BDC-LMO)delivered intriguing reversible capacities(179.2 mA h g^(-1)at 20 mA g^(-1)after 200 cycles and 100.1 mA h g^(-1)at 80 mA g^(-1)after 300 cycles),which can be attributed to the small particle size that shortens pathways for Li+/electron transport,the enhanced redox activity induced by abundant oxygen vacancies,and the optimized electronic configuration that contributes to the faster lithium diffusivity.This work provides insights into the rational design of LMO by morphological and atomic modulation to direct its activation and practical application as an advanced LIB cathode. | Jian-En Zhou Yanhua Peng Xiaoyan Sang Chunlei Wu Yiqing Liu Zhijian Peng Hong Ou Yongbo Wu Xiaoming Lin Yuepeng Cai | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,10: | 0 |
